<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>

The present invention relates to a window consisting of a frame and at least two movable leaves.
Windows are used more and more with leaves movable by translation (sliding leaves). These fall into two categories, namely windows with a fixed part and a sliding leaf and windows with two sliding leaves, which each have their drawbacks.
Windows with a fixed part have the disadvantage that the cleaning of at least the outer face of the sliding leaf must necessarily be carried out from outside the building, which requires, in multi-storey buildings, to resort to professionals and specialized equipment
for the maintenance and cleaning of said windows.
To overcome this drawback, windows with two sliding leaves have been made which, by operating these two leaves, allow the cleaning of the external face of the latter from inside the building. However, these windows have the disadvantage of being of a cost much higher than that of windows having a fixed part because the two sliding leaves, one of which will only be opened occasionally. in particular require frames with a double leaf guide system and complex sealing devices provided between the frames and the leaves as well as between the leaves.
The two aforementioned categories of windows also include windows with sliding leaves in which certain leaves are hinged on the lower crossmembers of the frames so as to be able to be "bellows" and this, for ventilation purposes, said leaves being able to be put in position " bellows "either only when they occupy their closed position, or during their translation. These latter windows have the same disadvantages as those listed above. That is to say that if they are provided with a fixed part, the cleaning of at least the external face of the sliding leaf must be carried out from the outside of the building. When all the leaves of these windows are sliding, the "bellows" setting of some of: their leaves further increases their cost, in particular given the presence of the "bellows" mechanisms.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to provide a window, cost significantly lower than that of windows in which all the leaves are sliding, the cleaning of which can be easily carried out from inside the building. In addition, the window according to the invention also makes it possible to obtain ventilation similar to that obtained with the help of leaves which can be put in "bellows".
To this end, according to the invention, the leaves and the frame are arranged so that one of the leaves, cooperating with guides provided in the frame along two opposite edges of the leaf, can
move by translation and so that the other leaf, assembled to the frame by hinges, can pivot, relative to the leaf moving by translation,
<EMI ID = 1.1>
According to one embodiment of the invention, the leaf guides moving in translation are associated with the cross members of the frame while the hinges assembling the movable leaf by pivoting are associated with one of the uprights of said frame.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the two leaves are offset from one another so that the leaf movable by pivoting is, in the closed position, parallel
to the movable leaf by translation, said leaves being arranged so that the movable leaf by translation can be moved when the movable leaf by pivoting is in the closed position.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the frame consists of two juxtaposed elements, one of the elements supporting the movable leaf by translation, the other element supporting the movable leaf by pivoting the latter leaf being advantageously turned towards the inside the room where the window is installed, the hinges being arranged on the frame and the leaf
so that the latter opens towards the interior of said room.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended to this specification and which represent, by way of nonlimiting examples, several particular embodiments of the window according to the invention.
Figures 1 to 3 are perspective views showing the window according to the invention respecti-vely in the closed position (Figure 1), with its sliding leaf partially open (Figure 2) and with its pivoting leaf partially open (Figure 3) .
Figures 4 to 8 are sectional views along lines IV-IV to VIII-VIII of Figure 1.
<EMI ID = 2.1>
are schematic views, in plan and partially broken, showing two variants of the window shown in FIGS. 1 to 8, the positions of the window sashes illustrated in FIGS. 9 to 11 and in FIGS. 12 to 14 corresponding to those of the illustrated window in Figures 1 to 3.
Figures 15 to 17 are schematic views, in profile and partially broken, of another variant of the window according to the invention.
In the different figures, the same reference notations designate identical or analogous elements.
The windows according to the invention, shown in the drawings, consist of a frame 1 and at least two movable leaves 2 and 3. These are arranged so that the leaf 2, which cooperates with guides 4 provided in the dormant along two opposite edges of the leaf, can move by translation (sliding leaf) and so that the leaf 3, assembled to the frame by hinges 5, can pivot, relative to the leaf 2, by an angle of at least less
<EMI ID = 3.1>
to proceed easily, while remaining inside the building, with cleaning and maintenance of the external face 6 of leaf 2.
In the embodiments of the window according to the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to
11, the guides 4 of the leaf 2 are associated with the cross members 7 of the frame while the hinges of the leaf 3 are associated with one of the uprights 8 of said frame. However, one could also provide, according to the invention, either to associate the hinges 5 of the leaf 3, as shown in FIGS. 12 to 14, with one of the crosspieces
7 of the frame, or, as shown in Figures 15 to 17, to associate the guides 4 to the uprights 8 of the frame and to associate the hinges 5 of the leaf 3 with one of the crosspieces 7 of said frame.
In the embodiments of the window according to the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to
8 and 15 to 17, leaves 2 and 3 are offset one
relative to the other so that the leaf 3 is, in the closed position, parallel to the movable leaf 2. These two leaves are also arranged so that the leaf 2 can be operated when the movable leaf 3 is in the closed position. The dormant 1
consists, as shown in FIGS. 4 to 8, of two juxtaposed elements 10 and 11 supporting the leaves 2 and 3 respectively, these two elements being either manufactured using separate sections and assembled using parts 12 made of insulating material
<EMI ID = 4.1>
using a single extruded profile, injected with insulating material, and some parts of which have been cut, in a manner known per se, to avoid said thermal bridges.
Although in all the illustrated embodiments, the leaves 3 have been shown so as to be able to open towards the interior of the building, nothing does. is opposed to the frames and hinges 5 of the leaves 3 being arranged so that
these open to the outside of the building.
If one refers to Figures 4 to 8, one could also according to the invention rather than having two elements 10 and 11 of the frame having the same dimensions with an intermediate amount 13 provided on the element 11 and on which takes support leaf 3 in the closed position, have an element
11 whose cross members 7 do not extend beyond said upright 12 on the side of the latter opposite the hinges 5.
One could also, according to the invention and as shown in Figures 9 to 14, provide, to reduce the cost of windows, a frame of simpler construction than that described above. This simplified frame, which also makes it possible to produce windows of reduced bulk, is arranged for
that leaves 2 and 3 are located in the extension of one another. In this case, the sliding leaf 2 must be in the closed position to authorize the closing of the leaf 3, the latter however having to be in the open position to authorize the displacement by translation of the leaf 2. This construction makes it possible to eliminate the intermediate amount
13 above, the leaf 3 in fact bearing on the leaf 2 when the two leaves occupy their closed position, means for locking the leaf 3 being provided on the leaf 2.
As shown in Figures 4 to 8, the leaves 2 and 3 are, like the frame, thermally insulated by parts 12. In addition, sealing means 14, constituted by tabs 15 fixed either to the dor-mant or to the leaves are provided to prevent any infiltration between the frame and the leaves. In addition, these means 14, constituted in particular by brushes 16, are also provided to prevent infiltration
<EMI ID = 5.1>
to be fitted with either single glazing or multiple glazing.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to these without departing from the scope of this patent.
Thus one could in particular provide a frame whose intermediate amount 13 is assembled to the crosspieces 7 of the element 11 of the frame (see Figures 1 to 8) using locking means arranged to allow the release of the upright 13, so that the opening, in which the window is arranged, can be completely released, by opening the pivoting leaf 3 and removing the sliding leaf 2 as well as the amount 13.
