Spring steel strip for elastic rail clamp
The invention relates to a spring steel strip for a ,. elastic rail clamp, with rods obtained by folding the band around the driving points, bars folded horizontally and resting, by the short side, against the rail shoe and the free ends in an arc of a circle, curved in eyelet shape following the direction of the rail, on whose shoe they are applied to hold it in place.
According to German patent DBP 1 090 249 elastic rail clamps sa are produced starting from a rectangular spring steel strip. In addition, the spike is curved from the bar. The rods A and B are then folded back by folding the steel strip back on itself.

tees applying under initial tension to the rail shoe. The execution of these single rod elastic crampons is achieved by separating the bar in the middle. The use of a spring steel strip of rectangular cross section for the manufacture of the rail studs has the disadvantage of a change in the shape of the section as a result of the bending of the sharp edged strip. In the region of the folding, the rectangular section becomes trapezoidal and there is an increase in volume of the compressed part, while the width of the tensile-stressed part decreases. The bead which thus appears in the bending zone can damage the outer edge of the shoe of the rail when the spike is driven into the sleeper, so that a permanent rupture of the rail can initiate there.
As is known, the stems of the elastic studs are driven into round holes in the cross member. When the square-shaped rod of the elastic crampon sinks into the wood of the cross member, the latter is subjected to a differential stress.
It even happens that with the form sharp edges of the stud .. elastic, the wood will start to split if the hole in the sleeper is somewhat too small.

The object of the invention is to eliminate the above drawbacks of the known elastic stud. This should be done while maintaining the pullout resistance and holding force of the rail in place. In addition, the surface pressure between the shank of the stud and the cross member must be uniform.
According to the invention, the problem is solved by using, for the manufacture of the stud, a steel strip
spring loaded with a rectangular cross section with rounded edges.
According to another form of the invention, the spring steel strip has a cross section the length of which is equal to twice the width and the radii at the angles of which are equal to a quarter of. this one
The advantages offered by the invention are in particular that the elastic clamp does not damage either the rail or the cross member. The rounding of the edges of the strip used
results in roughly equalization of the surface pressure between the stud and the cross member. Peaks
so far due to the notching effect of the sharp edges are - completely eliminated. A higher pullout resistance is thus obtained for the same cross section of the stud. The shape of the strip provided by the invention even allows the use, for concrete sleepers, of elastic studs driven into synthetic material or wooden studs, without these studs splitting. However, the slotted studs no longer have any retaining force.
A cleat for a double rod rail is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing, where:

of this, the rods A and B have a square cross section, with. rounded angles. A uniform cross-section of the rods is thus obtained which, in cooperation with the round holes of the sleepers, ensures a uniform surface pressure, without the appearance of tension peaks due to the effects of notching.
