<EMI ID=1.1>

le kieselguhr et la spongilite, utilisés dans la combinaison d'après l'invention, permettent d'une part de remplir les conditions de la préparation d'un produit résistant au feu, en amiante-ciment d'après l'invention, c'està-dire la liaison de la chaux disponible, due à l'hydratation du ciment Portland, la diminution des variations du volume et la suppression du retrait excessif du produit;
<EMI ID=8.1>

The present invention relates to a fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, at constant volume, distinguished by low weight and good machining capacity.
The application of asbestos-cement products poses urgent demands on this material, in particular the resistance to fire, which common asbestos-cement cannot meet.
It is well known that an ordinary asbestos-cement element is capable of withstanding great tensile and bending forces at normal temperatures, whereas it loses its strength by heating; the temperature at which ordinary asbestos cement can be used, must not be higher than 400 - 500 [deg.] C. The rapid rise in temperature above 500 [deg.] C usually causes deterioration of the asbestos cement, due to the physico-chemical changes occurring in both the asbestos fiber and in the stone. cement, as well as the formation of cracks under the effect of the pressure of the water vapor released in the mass of asbestos cement, which cannot leak freely, given the low porosity of asbestos cement, and causes the deterioration of products.
The above-mentioned drawbacks are eliminated by the constant volume fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, designed according to the present invention, having good mechanical machining ability, consisting of an asbestos mixture , cement and siliceous substances with the possible addition of other inorganic fibers, possibly a small amount of cellulose fibers
and treated waste, from the production of these elements or from the production of common asbestos-cement, characterized by the fact that it contains up to 55% by mass of asbestos group 6, possibly 7 according to CSN 72 1760 with maximum sieve refusal of 40%, with hole size <EMI ID = 2.1>
component from 20 to 80% by mass of expanding perlite and 80 to 20% by mass of kieselguhr, or 20 to 80% by mass of expanding perlite and 80 to 20% by mass of spongilite, the particle size of perlite up to 0.5 mm and the fineness of kieselguhr or spongilite to little

inorganic fibers with an average length greater than 10 mm, resistant to corrosion in an alkaline medium and retaining their fibrous structure in the finished product, possibly asbestos fibers group 3 according to CSN 72 1760 with retention

4.8 mm.
The advantages of the constant volume fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, designed according to this invention, consist in the fact that it makes it possible to replace the quality asbestos, commonly used, by others of inferior quality, i.e. by asbestos group 6, possibly

<EMI ID = 7.1>
sieve with hole size of 1.6 mm, and in the fact that it has a low volumetric weight and maximum porosity, the required resistance properties being retained thanks to the reduction in the quantity of the cement binder and the use of the maximum quantity of the suitably chosen agglomerate, Another advantage of the asbestos-cement element consists in the fact that it has a good coefficient of water vapor permeability, conducibility and capacity low temperature and lends itself well to the job, including nailing and screwing.
Siliceous bodies, such as expanding perlite,
kieselguhr and spongilite, used in the combination according to the invention, make it possible on the one hand to fulfill the conditions for the preparation of a fire-resistant product, in asbestos-cement according to the invention, it is that is, the binding of the available lime, due to the hydration of the Portland cement, the decrease in volume changes and the suppression of excessive shrinkage of the product;
the porosity necessary for the free evacuation of the water vapor, released under the action of high temperatures, on the other hand to reduce the volumetric weight.
The content of dust fractions, which characterizes the short-fiber asbestos designed according to the present invention, does not negatively influence the physical and mechanical properties of the products, as is the case
of traditional asbestos cement. In the case of “non-autoclaved” fire-resistant asbestos-cement elements, these dust fractions constitute an agglomerate whose characteristics are similar to those of sprayed siliceous bodies, introduced artificially; in case of employment
of the autoclave in the manufacturing process, these dust fractions react with the calcium hydroxide and thus contribute to the strength of the product.
To obtain the fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, according to the present invention, it was then necessary to reduce the content of cement binder to the indispensable limit, given by the required resistance properties.
By lowering the binder content, in the system in which the fibers and grains of the agglomerates "float" in the binder mass of the hardened Portland cement, are transformed into a somewhat opposite structure, constituted by the fibers and agglomerates, assembled by a weak layer of binder containing fibers and grains of agglomerates and making it possible to obtain a product still having the required mechanical properties. These structures also create
the conditions for the porosity and the machinability of the product.
The use of the combined addition of expansive-kieselguhr perlite or expansive-spongilite perlite advantageously combines the somewhat different effects of these bodies on
the technological process, especially the dehydration and the formation of the carpet, as well as certain properties of the products, in particular the variation of volume under the actuation
temperature and humidity. In addition, it allows the volumetric weight of the products to be reduced as much as possible, the fraction of kieselguhr or spongilite being sufficient for the binding of the available lime, produced during
of the hydration of the cement, even without the autoclave of the products and contributes, by the creation of new binders resulting from the reaction on the lime, to the general agglomeration and to the increase in the resistance of the final product. The total quantity of siliceous additions is completed by the fraction of dust contained in the asbestos in short fibers.
The favorable influence of the addition of a relatively small amount of long inorganic fibers, such as long fiber asbestos, mineral fibers or
glass with an average length greater than 10 mm, resistant to corrosion in an alkaline medium and retaining their fibrous structure in the finished product, possibly fibers
v
asbestos group 3 according to CSN 72 1760 with minimum retention of
50% on the sieve with the size of 4.8 mm holes, consists above all in the function of suspension and dispersion compared to the other components contained in the suspension, then in the favorable effect on the formation of the carpet during filtration , on improving the consistency of the belt during formation, facilitating handling, and on increasing the resistance of the product. The amount of additional fibers is to be chosen as a function of the total agglomerate content and the mode of transport of the suspension, taking into account the increasing tendency of certain kinds of fibers to shorten during processing.
It should be noted that the aforementioned fibers with high resistance in alkaline medium are mineral or glass fibers whose corrosion process is slowed down to the point that their functional properties remain retained in the product for the expected duration of its technical life.
Besides the mentioned addition of fractions of inorganic long fibers, it is possible to advantageously use the addition of sulphate or sulphite cellulose, old scrolled paper, etc., favorably influencing the creation of the monolayer on the squeegee and consequently the performance of the molding machine, in admissible quantity compared to the classification of the given product in the category A of fire retardant materials according to CSN 73 0853.
For the production of a fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, designed according to the present invention, it is convenient to work with a concentration of the aqueous suspension of the initial components greater than for the usual formation of slabs on it. Hatschkov type molding plant. The use of the high concentration of the suspension of the components, at relatively high speed of the molding machine, is possible thanks to the presence of the combined addition of expansive perlite-kieselguhr or expansive perlite-spongilite in the mentioned range, and it allows better homogenization of the components and eliminates the segregation of the light fractions; then, it improves the formation of the filter layer, increases
the coating speed and favorably influences the water passing through the sieve.
For the manufacture of the fire-resistant asbestos-cement element, the procedure is, for example, as follows: first prepare the cellulose suspension, add to it short-fiber asbestos group 6, possibly 7 according to CSN 72 1760 with maximum retention of 40% on the sieve with hole size of 1.6 mm and the addition of the fraction
long fibers, then add the siliceous bodies, the return sludge acquired in the recuperators, the additions accelerating the hardening of the cement, possibly other additions, such as crushed hard waste from
own production or production of asbestos cement etc. The suspension obtained is to be dehydrated in the usual way on the Hatschov installation; before dehydration, the concentration of the suspension is
<EMI ID = 8.1>
obtained is to work in pressed or non-pressed products.
To speed up the setting process, it is possible
to treat the products with steam, possibly
"autoclave" them. In the final phase, the products are dried and sized.
