Substd. azabenzimidazole anti-fogging agents. Formation of fog the formation of photographic images by development of an exposed photosensitive material contg. a silver halide emulsion with an aqs. alkaline compsn. is prevented by developing in the presence of an anti-fog precursor consisting an anti-fog nucleus with a de-activation gp. preg. a substd. azabensimidazole separating at a velocity which is a function of the temp. it is contacted with the compsns. Gives reduced fogging over a wide temp. range, with minimum variation in the sensitivity in the film. The anti-fog action of the precursor is masked, and only develops when it is contacted wiht the aqs. alkaline compsn. Esp. useful for diffusion transfer processes.
