J
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

ESDcl1.tiellcmont, the panel is presented in the form of a
EMI1.7
plate of desired thickness bearing a longitudinal groove on one side
EMI1.8
and on its opposite side, a longitudinal protrusion. In a first
EMI1.9

constructive mode, the. longitudinal groove is substantially located in the middle of the thickness of the element, its lower lip is a little longer than its upper lip, while the longitudinal protrusion is also substantially located in the middle of the thickness of the panel. and so. found between two notches, the upper one of which is deeper than the lower.
The panel is made of any suitable material, preferably an expanded plastic material which, as is known, has both the advantage of being very light and that of being an excellent thermal and sound insulator. The mechanical strength of the panel can be improved by incorporating a suitable reinforcement such as, for example, a wire mesh. It is also possible to envisage the use of a sandwich panel of which at least one of the exterior faces of hard material, metal or synthetic material is advantageously conditioned to be able to receive a layer of paint or other desired coating.
Internally the panel comprises one or more layers of known insulating materials. It therefore makes it possible to combine high mechanical resistance with the particular qualities of the intermediate material.
In a second variant, more particularly reserved for the use of compact materials of high mechanical strength, and therefore of low thickness, for example metals, the longitudinal .rainure is formed by the fold back on itself towards the inside one of the sides of the panel, while the longitudinal projection is formed by the opposite edge folded in S towards the outside.
These panels may carry perforations, ribs or other decorative assets.
The frame de.support consists of simple angles or pieces in frrme d'S fixed by any known means to the building and whose lower horizontal wing serves as an attachment means.
It is also possible to use metal or other boxes, self-supporting in the form of a U with folded lower edges to constitute hooking means. The side panels can
J
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
advantageously supported by decorative effect moldings *
The supports are put in place, possibly taking into account the division into two equal parts of the difference between the width of the room and that of the closest exact multiple of the unit width of the panels. This makes it possible to ensure the symmetry of appearance of the ceiling, the two end panels, cut for this purpose, having the same width.
The installation of the panels is extremely simple: if, for example, the operation is started from the left side of the room, the first panel, possibly cut to the desired width specified above, is presented with its projection to the right, its left edge is either supported by engaging the wing of the wall support in its groove, or resting on the decorative molding, its right side is then manually supported until the next panel is fitted * The latter is likewise supported by engagement of the wing of the following support in its groove which simultaneously receives and supports the projection of the first. The assembly thus continues step by step until the last panel on the right, the right side of which is supported by a decorative molding. The assembly is analogous in the case of the metal panel.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings represent, by way of example and without limitation, embodiments of panels according to the invention, as well as their assembly in place.
To this end, FIG. 1 represents, a transverse vertical section, a Duct of three light panels, with their intermediate supports and end panels support, on the one hand on support ut, on the other hand on decorative molding. .
Flower 2 is the detail of the assembly of a first cut panel.

Referring to Figure 1, each panel A, B or C, has, in section, a substantially rectangular seation bearing on one side - 'to gaucho in the drawing - a longitudinal groove mediaae 1 between two lips of which the lower 2 projects further than upper 3, and on the right, a median projection 4 between two cutouts, the lower 5 of which is shallower than the upper 6. These panels are advantageously made of an expanded synthetic material, by example of polystyrene. Reinforcing frames 7, for example made of metal mesh, can be incorporated therein in order to increase their mechanical strength.
The support and hooking parts are, for example, s-shaped pieces 8 fixed by screws 9 in the joists 10 of the ceiling, brackets 11 fixed by screws 12 in the wall 13, boxes 14, advantageously self-supporting, or fixed by screws 15, moldings 16, advantageously decorative, fixed by screws 17, other methods of fixing than screws are obviously possible.
The sandwich panels shown in figure 3 consist of the superposition of plates of materials of different natures.
For example a first lower plate 18 made of metal, reinforced polyester or the like, a second plate 19 constituting the median projection, also a plate made of hard material, a plate 20 of light material with insulating action, an upper plate 21 of hard material. The plates 18 and 21 make Bailli, to the left, on the inner plates 19 and 20, so as to produce the longitudinal groove 22.
The variant in thin panels shown in Figure 4 consists of a plate 23, one edge of which is folded upwards and then towards the inside so as to form the longitudinal groove
24 between 23 and the fold 25, while the other edge is folded upwards then outwards to form the tab 26.
The on-site assembly of the panels is therefore carried out as fired::
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In the case of thick panels, the supports being obviously put in place, possibly taking into account, as said, the question of symmetrical presentation of the whole, the panel A (figure * 1) is hung on the support 11 with support from ua lip 3 on the horizontal wing of said support and / or is placed on the decorative molding 27 (FIG. 2) * Its other end is momentarily supported manually or in any suitable manner.
The panel 3 is then put in place, the horizontal flange of the support 8 is introduced into its. groove which simultaneously receives the projection 4 of the panel A, the curd which bears on the lip 2 of said panel. B. Panel A is now supported along its two side sides. The editing continues in the same way. the last panel C being supported on the one hand by resting its lip 3 on the support 14 and, on the other hand, by the decorative molding 16 on which it places by its projection 4 or, if it has been cut, directly by its underside.
The shortening of the lips 3 and the deepening of the notches 6 are provided to allow the passage, between two consecutive elements, of the vertical wing of the common support.
In the case of thin panels according to Figure 4, assembly is also carried out, from left to right, by placing the first panel A, assumed to be cut, on the molding 28 and hooking by introducing the lower flange of the support 29 in the groove 24, laying of the second panel B by resting its tab 26 on the upper side of the fold 25 and hooking by its longitudinal groove to the support 30, and so on. The last element is placed either on a molding or hangs on a support as described *
It is obvious that other constructive variants can be envisaged, both in the shapes of the elements and in the nature of the constituent materials, without however departing from the scope of the invention which may be characterized by the following.
