<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

According to the invention, it is also possible to assemble the rods in groups and fix one of the ends of each group of rods to a special connecting cross member, so that the two connecting cross members can be mounted on the two end cross members of the basket. where they are fixed removably.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, will make it possible to better understand the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is likely to provide.
Fig. 1 is a schematic elevational view showing the threshing basket according to the invention in the position which it usually occupies on the combine harvester.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the basic position of a threshing basket according to the invention,
Fig.3 shows the same basket for an operating position.
Fig. 4 is a section along iV-IV (fig.2 showing a detail of the device.
There is shown in FIG. 1 part 1 of a threshing machine, and in particular of a combine harvester in which a feed system, essentially constituted by an inclined conveyor 2, sends the grains in the usual way on a threshing drum 4. As usual, a turning drum 3 can be placed behind the threshing drum 4. The grains are separated by passing through the interstices of a basket 5.
They fall through a dividing wall into the thresher's screening device. By the use of the usual means, shaking plates 9 are provided to shake the threshed straw and its ears, and to evacuate it while separating in the ordinary way the rest of the grains which are still retained in the ears.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
It can be seen in FIG. 2 that the new threshing basket according to the invention is produced in the form of a frame. The latter is formed of .Longerons 6 to which are fixed head crossbars 7 and 16, while the crossbars or crossbars
17 are arranged at more or less regular intervals. The sleepers 7 and 16 and the intermediate sleepers 17 are pierced with rows of holes 15. The new features of the threshing basket 5 are particularly visible in FIG. 2 to 4. in particular with regard to the fact that in front of the end cross member 16 there is a second end cross member 8, while beyond the other end cross member 7 there is a end cross member additional 11.
These terminal cross members have rows of metal wires or rods 10 and 13 engaged through their holes. It is also advantageous to produce two adjacent rods in the form of a U-shaped or hairpin assembly, the branches of which are engaged in two neighboring holes. sleepers 8 or 11 so that the bottom 12 of the U-shaped profile covers the gap between the two neighboring holes in question. As can be seen particularly in FIG. 3, in this way a symmetrical arrangement of two parallel longitudinal assemblies in the form of a comb is obtained, which group together all the rods of the basket and are capable of sliding relative to one another, the rods being guided by all the holes . of the intermediate cross member 17 which is located in the center.
When the assembly occupies the basic position shown in FIG. 3, the cross members 8 and 11 which each carry one of the two assemblies constituting the rods 10 or 13 of the basket, are removably fixed to the end cross members 7 or 16 of the frame; in the example shown, this connection is provided by screws 14. It can be seen in FIG. 3 that after having disassembled this connection, we can remove
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the sleepers 8 and 11 which carry the rows of rods 10 and 13.
It appears in ig. 4 that to facilitate the introduction of the rods of the basket into the cross members 17, it is advantageous to provide on one of the sides of each hole 15 a flared conical entry 18; these conical inlets are made on one side or the other of each hole 15, depending on the direction of introduction of the movable rods 10 and 13 of one or the other of the two symmetrical combs. Moreover, it can be seen from the example shown that it is advantageous to ensure by welding points or beads 19, the fixing on the cross member 11 or 8 of each bottom 12 of a set of two rods 10 or 13 with U profile.
Thanks to this new arrangement of the threshing basket 5 as shown for example in FIGS. 2 to 4, the rods 10 to 13 are fixed as rigidly as is usually necessary, and their maintenance is ensured by sufficiently secure mechanical means in any position. However, we see in fig. 3 that it suffices to remove the fixing screws or the like 14, in order to slide the end crossmembers 8 and 11 longitudinally in the opposite direction, so that in order to clean the threshing basket 5, there is placed between the rods or bars of 'a double spacing of that which exists today on known baskets.
In addition, the desired effect is observed whereby the simple longitudinal sliding of the end crossmembers 8 and 11, with a view to cleaning the assembly, pre-cleans the rods of the basket which are pulled through the holes 15 of the bars. transverse bars 17. Furthermore, the device according to the invention has another important advantage due to the fact that the transverse bars 8 and 11 can be equipped with two different groups of rods.
This arrangement makes it possible to use the same basket 5 for threshing grains.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of different species, according to a first mode of use which. keeps the two groups of rods 10 and 13 nested one inside the other, or according to a second possibility where the two groups of rods of the basket are pulled apart from one another. In the second case, a rod spacing is obtained which is double that of the first case.
It must also be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention, which would not be departed from by replacing the details of execution described. by all other equivalents.
