had? and X are the same or different substituents. chosen from the class consisting of the hydrogen atom, the lower alkyl radicals, whether branched or not, the hydroxyl radical, the lower alkoxy radicals whether branched or not, and Y and 8 are identical or different substituents, chosen from the class , consisting of the hydrogen atom and the hydroxy radical.
By the expressions lower alkyl radicals and lower alkoxy radicals, as used herein, is meant alkyl or alkoxy radicals having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, for example methyl, ethyl radicals. , isopropyl, metthoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy, t-butoxy.
Particularly interesting compounds of the present invention are the compounds of the general formula 1, in which they are substituted. Y and z are both a hydroxyl radical and these compounds are therefore mixed ethers-oxides derived from glycerol.
Particularly interesting compotes of the present invention are the compounds of the general formula i in which W and X are the same or different oxygen radicals, for example the hydroxyl radical or an alkoxy radical, such as the methoxy radical or ethoxy. These W and X substituents are preferably attached in the meta position relative to the n-propoxy or substituted n-propoxy radical of general formula I.
Among the compounds of the present invention, the preferred compound is 1- (3,5-dimethoxyphéoxy) -2,3-dihydroxypropane.
A subject of the present invention is also a process for the preparation of compounds of general formula I, according to which a phenbolic compound of general formula 11 is reacted;

The reaction can advantageously be carried out in pre-ounce of a solvent or of a diluent, preferably a solvent or a polar diluent, such as for example an aliphatic alcohol, such as methanol, ethanol, or water, or their mixtures,
It is also advantageous to carry out the reaction in the presence of a basic compound, for example an oxide, a hydroxide, an alkoxide or a carbonate of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, or alternatively an aliphatic tertiary amine.
Basic compounds useful for the purposes of the invention are, for example, potassium or sodium hydroxide, sodium methoxide, potassium carbonate, triethylamine,
The amount of the basic compound used is preferably at least equal to one mole per mole of the phenolic compound of general formula II.
The reaction is carried out at room temperature or at a temperature above room temperature, for example between 20 and 130 C. The reaction time is between 0.5 and 15 hours depending on the temperature chosen in the specified range. .
At the end of the reaction, the reaction medium can be optionally concentrated, for example by distillation or by evaporation of solvents or diluents, and the compound of general formula i is isolated by an appropriate method, for example; by crystallization, by extraction with an organic solvent immiscible with water, such as an ether, chloroform or a hydrocarbon such as benzene, thickened by evaporating the solvent

of the extract thus obtained = by fractional distillation; by filtration.
The compounds of general formula 1 are interesting by virtue of their pharmacodynamic properties. According to the invention, it has been shown that some of these derivatives have antispasmodic and spasmolytic properties.
The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions which contain as active constituents one or more compounds of the general formula i, alone or with other active substances, in admixture with a suitable pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle.
These compositions can be solid compositions such as bare or coated tablets, cachets, capsules, dispersible powders or suppositories, or liquid compositions for oral use or for use by injection. Solid compositions for oral use can be prepared by mixing one or more compounds according to the invention, for example with milk sugar, powdered sugar, starch, talc. Compositions for anal use can be prepared by incorporating one or more compounds in accordance with the invention, for example in cocoa butter or in another suitable vehicle such as the derivatives of mono-, di- and triglycerides. of saturated fatty acids.
Liquid compositions for oral use can be prepared, for example, by dissolving one or more compounds in accordance with the invention, and in addition a stabilizing or anti-oxidant substance, such as for example p- methyl hydroxybenzoate and 19 propyl p-hydroxybenzoate in distilled water, or distilled water with the addition of ethanol, glycerin, flavoring syrups. The compositions for use by injection can be prepared by dissolving one or more compounds according to the invention in distilled water, optionally in the presence of a stabilizing agent.
