<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

share, with their great resistance and their cost price, for the realization of doors, decorative panels, etc,
To this end, according to the invention, said method consists, in order to obtain a plate of which one of the faces is plain and polished, in pouring the plastic material onto a rigid and indeformable support having a perfectly flat and polished face,
the face of said support being coated with an agent facilitating the separation of the plate from this support after complete polymerization of the cast material.
According to the invention, the plastic material is poured onto a mirror placed on said support.
According to the invention, said method consists, in order to obtain a plate of which the two large faces are flat and polished, in separately casting, on the aforesaid support, two plates having a flat and polished face, these two plates being assembled in such a way that that their large unpolished face, are registered with each other.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended hereto and which represent, by way of nonlimiting examples, a particular embodiment of an installation for carrying out the process. aforesaid and particular embodiments of plates obtained by this process.
FIG. 1 is a schematic view, in elevation and in section, illustrating said method.
FIG. 2 shows, in section, a plate having a large flat face obtained by the method according to the invention.
FIGS. 3 and 4 show, in section, plates having two large flat faces and produced using two plates such as the one shown in FIG. 2.

tion consists in casting, to obtain a plate 1 having a large flat and polished face 2, a plastic material, such as poly ester, on a support 3, rigid and undeformable, having a face 4, intended to come into contact with the material casting, perfectly flat and polished. The face 4 of the support is, before the casting of the plastic material, coated with an agent 5 facilitating the separation of the plate 1 from the support 3 after total polymerization of the cast plastic material, an accelerator, a curing agent and optionally, dyes being incorporated into the latter before casting.
The support 3 is advantageously constituted, as shown in FIG. 1, by a mirror 6 mounted on a frame 7, this mirror 6 preferably being a sandwich glass or a tempered glass,
The plate 1, shown in Figure 2 and cast on the aforementioned support, has a large flat and polished face 2 and can be used as it is as a covering panel. This plate, obtained by the process according to the invention offers the great advantage of no longer requiring polishing work after the casting of the plastic material, the face 2, polished fora for this casting and after polymerization of the material, exhibiting moreover, a higher polish than that which could be obtained previously with the aid of polishing equipment.
When, for example for the production of double-sided doors or panels, it is desired to obtain a plate 1 ′ whose two large faces 2 are flat and polished, two plates 1 are separately cast, each having a flat and polished face. and these two plates are assembled, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, so that their large unpolished face 8 is facing one another. These plates 1 can be assembled either by gluing (Figure 3) or by casting plastic between the two plates (Figure 4).
