<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Les dessine annexée montrent à titre illustratif et non restrictif, et d'une façon très schématique, des formes de réali- Dation de barres faucheuses suivant l'invention. Dans ces dessina! la figure 1 montre la barre faucheuse vue en plan;
La figure 2 en est une vue frontale, partiellement en coupe suivant le plan II-II de la figure 1;
La figure 3 en est une vue par le dessous, suivant la flèche III de la figure 2 et partiellement en coupe suivant le plan III-III de cette même figure;
La figure 4 est une coupe transversale suivent le plan IV-IV de la figure 1, et à plus grande échelle;
La figure 5 montre une variante au dispositif de commande;
La figure 6 montre, semblablement à la figure 2,un autre exemple de barre faucheuse;

La figure 7 est une vue en plan de la barre faucheuse do la figure 6 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Mechanical mower bar, with rotating mowing elements"
The present invention relates to mechanical mower bars and relates to a tool of the category referred to, which is characterized in a fundamental way vis-à-vis those known, both by its construction and by its operating principle,
We know that the known mower bars, which derive from the active element of mowing machines, are basically constituted by a plurality of cutting elements arranged like the teeth of a comb moving alternately and cooperating with another fixed comb. this one, to cut the stems in the manner
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a mesh shears,
The mower bar according to the invention works, on the contrary,
using a plurality of elements not moving in a linear fashion, but rotating on their own axis, at high and uniform speed, oea rotating elements being arranged along the advancing front of the bar.
It has been observed that by such an arrangement, the efficiency and the regularity of the mowing work were considerably improved, this being due to the fact that the diagram of the mowing work is uniform and without stopping as well as the advancement of the bar. mower.
In general, this tool will be produced in the form of a mower bar proper, that is to say as an accessory tool to be used in combination with an agricultural tractor, but it goes without saying that it can also be produced. in the form of a mower maohine proper, and it should also be understood that it could be provided with all types of accessory and / or safety devices.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of illustration and without limitation, and in a very schematic manner, embodiments of mower bars according to the invention. In these drawings! Figure 1 shows the mower bar seen in plan;
FIG. 2 is a front view thereof, partially in section along the plane II-II of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a view thereof from below, along arrow III of FIG. 2 and partially in section along plane III-III of this same figure;
Figure 4 is a cross section taken along the plane IV-IV of Figure 1, and on a larger scale;
Figure 5 shows a variant of the control device;
FIG. 6 shows, similarly to FIG. 2, another example of a mower bar;

Figure 7 is a plan view of the mower bar of Figure 6;
Figure 8 is a section along the plane VIII-VIII of; figure 6, and
FIG. 9 is a section taken along the plane IX-IX of FIG. 7, on a larger scale.
In the example of FIGS. 1 to 4, the mower bar comprises in combination, a longitudinal box 1, the length of which depends on the width of the zone to be mown.
In this box are fixed approximately vertical axes 2 (inclines of about 10 vis-à-vis the vertical).
Each of these axes carries a hub 2 rotating on ball or roller bearings. On the lower part of this hub is wedged @ a chain wheel 2 while the upper part forms a flange 6 on which is fixed a disc 7, constituting the actual fauoheur member.
These discs 7 are arranged in two very close superimposed plana, so that the discs in the upper plane partially reopen the discs; in the lower plane ,.
All chain wheels 5 are connected by an endless chain 8 controlled by a drive wheel 9 wedged on a shaft 10 protruding above the bar and provided with a pulley 11 which receives its movement by the power take-off of the traotor equipped with the mower bar, the latter being connected to the tractor by a hinge 12.
Correct meshing of the chain P with the wheels is ensured by placing between each wheel 1 and its neighbor, a roller 13. These rollers force the chain 8 to meander by winding in a small arc on each toothing. A tensioner roller 14 provided with an external control device, or with a spring, allowing it to be moved transversely with respect to the andiron
8, ensures the regular tension of chainmail last.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
According to a variant, illustrated by FIG. 5, the vertical shaft 10, instead of being provided directly with the pulley 11, carries a bevel wheel 17 meshing with a bevel wheel 18 wedged on
EMI4.1
a horizontal shaft 12. which carries the pulley 11. That oi, consequently, is located in a vertical plane.
Bar 1 is connected to the tractor or other machine by
EMI4.2
a hinge which is integral with the pad 16 which supports' :. "., one of the ends of the bar 1. This shoe has the shape of a box and encloses the driving wheel. Another shoe 2z is arranged at the other end of the bar 1 and is of the usual shape and size .
EMI4.3
As it emerges from what we have just exposed and illustrated- <: "-. Trer, the set of discs, 7, superimposed and rotating in the same direction, form by their edges a wavy but substantial line. lement continuous, forming a cutting edge on each side of the bar.:
1, parallel to this bar and advancing in front of it.
EMI4.4
All the stems of plants reappearing by this cutting line are cut by the bar which advances very close to the ground and, for this purpose, the plane of the discs is somewhat inclined towards the ground, as can be seen in figure 4.
Naturally this inclination, which in the example / in practice shown is of the order of 10?, May be somewhat different, / - depending on the case of application and even the diameter of the discs 7.
The example described, as we have just said, is not limiting, the details of construction and execution being able to vary within very wide limits.
EMI4.5

of the bar, between it and the field.
In the embodiment illustrated by Figures 6 to 9, the mower bar still comprises a long hollow member
EMI5.1
1 support ± at its ends by patina 2. and 16 te7.s as in the first example described above. the shoe 16, still in the form of a box, supports and contains control cogs (fig. 5) similar to those of the first example, namely: a pulley 11 whose shaft 19 controls, by the reference ± -18 , a vertical shaft 10 on which is wedged a chain wheel 9.
Box 1 contains the almost vertical axles (inclined about 10 from the vertical) mounted on bearings and as many hubs 3, each provided with a chain wheel ±, The chain 8 runs snaking over all the chain wheels 5 which are forced to turn, each in the opposite direction to that of its neighbors, and after passing over a roller, tensioner, returns to the driving wheel 9.
Each of the hubs 3 is provided with a flange 6 and on each of these flanges is wedged one of the mowing members.
These, instead of having the shape of toothed discs, are blades affecting the shape of elongated diamonds, having their extreme ends blunt or truncated and tapered,
The cutting parts will preferably be provided with a layer or transfer of a hard material, in order to improve the preservation of the cutting edge,
Unlike the first example, these cutting members are all arranged in the same plane, which is made possible by their elongated and relatively narrow shape and also by the fact that they are offset by 90 and that they turn in the opposite direction. like gears.
This arrangement of the blades, the paths of which intersect, has the advantage of having a cutting line,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
continuous very close to a straight line.
The boot 1 constituting the body of the tool, as represented in FIG. 9, is thinned, almost tapered at the front, so that it does not disturb the engagement of the plant stems' by the cutting blades,
The mower bar according to the invention can be completed by protection members to avoid any danger that may come from blades rotating at high speed, for example comb teeth, these members not however involved in the mowing function, but having the sole function of preventing foreign bodies larger than the diameter of the plant stems to be mown, from coming into contact with the rotating blades 7.
Above the rotating mower units, a cover 20 can be placed on bar 1, extending over the entire upper part of the tool, with the exception of a narrow longitudinal zone in which said mowing organs,
Where appropriate, in order to meet particular requirements, the mowing units of this second example could also be placed below the bar, that is to say, between the latter and the ground.
