"ORIENTABLE LAMP FOR OFFICE, DRAWING TABLE, WORKBENCH AND OTHERS".
The invention relates to a lamp that can be oriented in all planes and provided with means for fixing to the edge of a table, a workbench or other flat piece of furniture, for example with a rim.
The bulb is mounted in any suitable known reflector disposed at the end of an arm capable of pivoting in the vertical plane * The reflector is fixed thereto by means of a fork in which it can oscillate, said fork being able to pivot at the end of the arm, around the longitudinal axis of the latter, The arm can pivot around a horizontal axis materialized by a connecting rod of the ends of two support arms which can themselves pivot simultaneously around a horizontal axis inserted in a mounted vertical arm, with the possibility of rotation around a vertical axis, in the fixing foot.
The position stabilization of the lamp-holder arm is ensured by a permanent magnet secured to the lamp-holder arm and able to move, opposite an iron plate secured to one of the support arms and centered on the axis of rotation of the lamp-holder arms, These are stabilized in position by the action of a tension spring calibrated accordingly,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This assembly makes it possible to place the lamp in practically all possible positions above the support object to be illuminated, the light spot being able to simultaneously be directed in any desired direction.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings represent, by way of example and without limitation, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
To this end, FIG. 1 is an overall side view of the device.
FIG. 2 is a section, along II-II of FIG. 1, on the lower part of the device and showing the arrangement of the tension spring and of its fasteners.
Figure 3 is a section, along III-III of Figure 1, of the permanent magnet and its support part.
FIG. 4 is a section, along IV-IV of FIG. 1, on the axis of rotation of the supporting arm of the lamp.

Referring to the figures, the bulb is arranged in a reflector 1 of known design. The reflector is placed between the arm of a metal fork 2 by means of two small bolts 2 'around which it can pivot, a slight clamping effect being provided to hold it in position. The fork 2 carries a central perforation for the engagement of a pivot 3 secured in the end of the tubular arm 4, preferably a synthetic tube. The fork is slightly clamped between the head of the pivot and the arm, possibly with the interposition of washers.
This arm 4 is articulated approximately in its middle on an axis 5, the ends of which are engaged and held by screws 6 in perforations made opposite in the ends of the two tubular support arms 7, also advantageously made of synthetic material.
In the rear part of the tube 4 this slipped a metal tube 14 (or possibly a bar) acting as a balancing counterweight for the lamp and its refractor. One of the tubes carries a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
circular base 8, for example made of wood or other non-magnetic material, to which is fixed by screw 9 an iron disc 10. The arm 4 carries a permanent magnet 11 embedded in a support part 12, of synthetic material or other, maintained by via 13. This permanent magnet presses continuously against the disc 10 and ensures the immobilization of the arm 4.
The support arms 7 which are parallel to each other are braced and kept apart by the axis 5, with the spacer 15, the base 8 and the fixing screws 6, rod 16 with the spacer 17 and fixing screws 18, the rod 19 with spacers 20, 21 and screws 22. On the rod 19 is arranged, with the possibility of rotation, a tubular support 23, also advantageously made of synthetic material and in which is slid, over its entire length, a metal tube reinforcement 24, tube which extends downwards out of tube 23, tube 24 serves as a housing for a tension spring 25 hooked to the base of said tube, for example on a small riveted cross member 26, and connected at its other end , with a double cord 27, advantageously in nylon, embracing on the other hand the spacer 17,
A metal collar 28 with an internal chamfered edge covers the end of the tube 23 through which the cord 27 exits. The protruding part of the metal tube 24 is intended to engage in a tube 29, advantageously of plastic material, forming part of the tube. organization of the device fixing base. This foot is composed, for example, of a base plate 30, made of wood or other material, in which the tube 29 is engaged and held in place by screws,.
The plate can be fixed for example by means of a clamp 32 or by any other means of known design, to a support such as table or the like. The free ends of the various tubes are capped with finishing caps 39.
Finally, the supply conductors 33 of the lamp are advantageously housed in the tubes. For example, they can penetrate, by its lower part at 34, into one of the arms 7, by
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
come out towards its end smiles at 35 to engage, through a perforation 36, in the bran 4 which they leave at 37 to end in the sooket of the lamp and 38. Of course, between the points 35, 36 and 37, 38 , the conductors have sufficient slack to allow the relative free movement of the corresponding elements of the device.
In summary, the various possible movements of the lamp in space are as follows: 1) Rotation of 360 around the vertical axis materialized by the tube 29 of the fixing foot.
2) Tilting of 90 ', on either side of the vertical, around the axis of rotation materialized by the rod 19, with stabilization by the action of the spring 25.
3) Rotation of about 170 from top to bottom or bottom to top, around the horizontal axis materialized by the rod 5, with stabilization by the action of the magnet 11.
4) 360 rotation of fork 2 around its pivot 3, stabilized by lightly tightening the fork.
5) Tilting of the reflector 1 carrying the bulb between the arms of the fork 2 with stabilization by light tightening at the pivot points.
This set of movement spermets, as one can easily imagine, to make the lamp occupy practically all the possible positions in space, and the organization of the head makes possible the orientation in all directions of the light spot.
It is obvious that numerous construction variants can be envisaged, both in the dimensions of the various arms and in the materials used, without however departing from the scope of the invention which can be characterized by the following.
