<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Anti-slip wheel for vehicles"
The subject of the invention is a non-slip wheel for a vehicle, in particular for a tractor, intended to be mounted on the outside, against the rear wheel of the vehicle, this non-slip wheel having an outside diameter slightly less than that of this rear wheel and being fitted with teeth intended to hook into the ground during use.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Wheels of this type known until now have various drawbacks. Indeed, these wheels can only be fitted to the vehicle when it is in use and it is necessary to remove them when the vehicle is moving on the roads. Consequently, these repeated assemblies and dismantles require considerable manpower and do not, for example, make it possible to mount this non-slip wheel on the axle of the vehicle when a wheel thereof is driven into the ground. In addition, it is always necessary to provide a means of transport for these non-slip wheels.
The object of the invention consists essentially in overcoming the aforementioned drawbacks and in presenting a non-slip wheel of a very simple construction and of a fairly low cost price.
To this end, the teeth of the non-slip wheel according to the invention are removable.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the teeth can be mounted inside the non-slip wheel so as to occupy an inactive position. Thus, the teeth are always within easy reach when the anti-slip wheel needs to be put into operation.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the non-slip wheel has at its periphery holes in each of which engages a rod integral with the rear side of the teeth, this side pressing against said periphery. of the wheel, a fixing means, cooperating with each of these rods, being provided making it possible to maintain the latter in a stationary position in said holes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
According to a preferred embodiment of the object of the invention, each of the dens has the shape of a triangular prism, the base of which is in the form of an isosceles triangle, the lateral face of the prism delimited by the unequal dimension of the base resting against the rim of the non-slip wheel, so that the ridges between the side faces of the prism are parallel to the axis of the wheel.
The invention also relates to vehicles provided with at least one of the non-slip wheels described above.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings given below, by way of nonlimiting example, of a particular embodiment of the subject of the invention.
FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a non-slip wheel according to the invention, mounted on the axle of a rear wheel of a tractor.
FIG. 2 is a detail view in perspective, on a larger scale, with partial breakages, of part of the anti-slip wheel shown in FIG. 1.
In both figures, the same reference numerals designate the same elements.
The non-slip wheel 1 shown in the figures essentially comprises a hub 2, fixed to the medium bolts 3 on the axle 4 of the rear wheels 5 of an agricultural tractor, and a rim 6, having the appearance of a regular polygon, joined by spokes 7, said hub 2. A tooth 8 is mounted in the center of each side of the polygon. These teeth 8 are removable and each have the shape of a triangular prism, the base 9 of which is in the shape of an isosceles triangle. The lateral face 10 of the tooth delimited by the uneven side of the base rests against the rim 6 and this so that the ridges @ the three lateral faces of the prism are @ @ @ the

non-slip wheel 1.
At the center of the lateral face 10 of the teeth 8 is fixed, perpendicular to this face 10, a rod 11 of square section having at its free end an orifice 14 passing through the rod 11 right through and in which a pin 12 can be inserted. The latter has a head 18 on which is articulated an open ring 19, the ends of which rotate in notches, provided on either side in said head, these notches being offset with respect to one another, by so as to obtain a spring effect when this ring 19 is folded around the free end of the rod 11 on the end of the pin 12 against which it is then held elastically, The orifice 14, provided in the rod 11, preferably extends in the direction of rotation of the non-slip wheel 1,
the spindle 12 being inserted into this orifice 14 of the inactive teeth, so that the head 18 of the spindle 12 is directed in the direction of rotation of the wheel. Indeed, in the case where a tooth 8 'occupies an inactive position, the pin 12 and, consequently, the ring 19 is on the outer face 16 of the rim 6, so that the ring 19 could be s' cling to an obstacle in the ground and thus release the pin 12 from its hole 14. The fact of placing the head 18 of the pin 12 in the direction of rotation makes it possible to remedy this danger since, in this case, the 'ring
19 is always applied against the rim 6, when it comes into contact with the ground.
The position of the pin 12 is less important than the tooth is on the outer surface 16 of the rim 6, since in this case the pin 12 can hardly rub on the ground.
The rod 11 engages a hole 13 passing through the rim 6 radially. The rod 11, engaged in the hole 13, exceeds the rim 6 on the opposite side of the tooth 8 so as to allow the pin 12 to be engaged in the orifice 14 provided at the free end of this rod 11. Thus, the 8 teeth are held in
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a stationary position with respect to this rim 6. The latter is hollow and has a rectangular section. The holes 13 are of square section and are reinforced by a portion of tube 15 mounted inside the rim 6.
As can be seen in the figures, the teeth 8 can be mounted either on the outer face 16 of the tap 6, or on the inner face 17 of the latter. In FIG. 1, the two lower teeth 8 'are mounted on the inner face 17 of the rim 6 and are thus housed between the latter and the hub 2, so as to occupy an inactive position. The other teeth 8 are mounted on the outer face 16 of the rim 6 and occupy an active position, that is to say they can engage in the ground when the tractor is set in motion. The same method of fixing can therefore be used in the two positions of the teeth.
Furthermore, the outer diameter of the rim 6 is slightly smaller than that of the tire of the rear wheel 5, on the axle 4 of which the non-slip wheel 1 is mounted, so that when the teeth are placed on the inner face 17 of this rim 6, the latter cannot touch the ground. When the teeth 8 are placed on the outer face 16, they protrude from the tire of the rear wheel 5 and can therefore penetrate deeply into the ground.
The fact of being able to disassemble the teeth 8 and place them in an inactive position on the non-slip wheel 1 gives the latter rather unexpected advantages compared to known non-slip wheels where the teeth are mounted in an irremovable manner on the outer face of the wheel. a rim. In fact, the hub 2 of the anti-slip wheel according to the invention can be of a standard construction and be fixed by bolts 3 on the axle 4 of the tractor, since it can be mounted on the latter even when it is is not used and the tractor must, for example
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
move on the road. In this case, it suffices quite simply to place all the teeth 8 in their inactive position.
In addition, in the event that a rear wheel 5 of the tractor has sunk too deeply into the ground and it is impossible to move forward, it suffices quite simply to place the tines 8, which are still accessible, on the outer face 16 of the rim 6, so that by rotating the rear wheel 5 of the tractor by a small angular distance, the tooth 8, being on the front of the rim 6 and more brought closer to the ground enters the ground and allows, by hooking the latter, and then the following ones, in the ground, to release this sunken wheel 5 and to move the tractor forward. This possibility does not exist with non-slip wheels with fixed teeth.
With the latter, the lateral side of the rear wheel 5 must be completely cleared so that the anti-slip wheel can be fitted thereon.
1 te, which of course requires considerable work.
Further by the fact that the following anti-slip wheel; the invention does not interfere with the movement of the tractor on the road, there is no longer any need to provide a means of transport for the latter, as is the case for the existing non-slip wheels.
The non-slip wheel with removable teeth allows the operator to use the number of teeth he deems useful for the job at hand. So most of the work will be done with 6 teeth, all of the teeth will only be used in rare cases.
It is also possible to provide special teeth; such as teeth of larger dimensions or having the shape of a hook, which can be used in extremely difficult cases, for example, with a beam placed horizontally against the front of the non-slip wheel, so that one of the these special teeth can rest on the beam and thus make the pressed wheel of the tractor come out.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
It may, in certain cases, be advantageous to provide on the tractor one or more supports for the tines.
These supports can, for example, consist of a horizontal profiled bar in which holes are provided, the section of which corresponds to that of the holes 13 provided in the rim 6 of the non-slip wheel 1 and in which the inactive teeth can be fixed.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and that many variants can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the present patent.
This is how the shape and number of teeth can vary; that the means for fixing the teeth may, for example, consist of a pin mounted on one of the faces of the rim and engaging under the action of a spring in an orifice provided in the rod integral with the teeth; this non-slip wheel can be applied to any vehicle moving in difficult ground, such as bulldozers, trucks equipped with winches for removing trees from the woods, etc .; that the non-slip wheel may have a circular shape obtained, for example, by the bending of a profile.
