L'invention a plus particulièrement pour objet un dispo- sitif compact susceptible de permettre l'épuipement des métiers à tisser automatiques à performances maximales. A cet effet, le dispositif selon l'invention est substantiellement constitué par la combinaison d'un moyen pour couper la duite à longueur correcte;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
d'un moyen pour l'accrochage du bout de la duite en vue d'en permettre le retour dans la foule;
L'invention concerne le dispositif en soi, en tant que combinaison des moyens prérappelés présentés sous toute forme adéquate généralement quelconque ainsi que l'appareil exécuté dans une forme compacte dont ,notamment, l'exécution décrite à titre d'exemple ci-après en se réfêrarit aux dessins annexés dans - lesquels? la figure 1 est une vue en plan d'un dispositif conforme à l'invention, le couvercle étant enlevé; les figures 2,3 et 4 représentent une coupe approxima- tivement selon les lignes II-II, III-III, IV-IV de la figure 1 en vue de montrer le maximum d'éléments essentiels du dispositif; la figure 5 est une coupe partielle selon la ligne V-V de la figure 3 ; la figure 6 est une coupe selon la ligne VI-VI de la figure 4;

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

the thread cutter with its driving device; Figures 10 and 11 show, respectively, a section along the lines X-X and XI-XI of Figure 3; FIGS. 12 and 13 represent partial views, respectively according to arrows F12 and F13 of FIG. 11; Figure 14 is an enlarged view of the part indicated at P14 in Figure 4.
The device for forming selvedges according to the invention in the embodiment shown by way of example in the appended drawings consists in substance as follows: a general housing 1 of prismatic appearance and arranged in an oil bath is top closed by a cover 2 secured in the closed position, for example by a screw device comprising a rod 3 whose lower threaded end is @@ secured in a nut! fixed on the crankcase bridge 1; the other end of the rod 3 passing through the cover, 2 is provided with a knurled operating knob 5 and a support and pressure plate 6 capable of coming to rest firmly when screwing against said cover 2 for keep it firmly in the closed position.
This cover has a longitudinal window 7 closed by a transparent wall 8, for example made of Plexiglas, which allows a permanent visual check of the components housed in said casing 1, Lowerly, this casing 1 is fixed to the adjacent part of the frame 2 trade, for example as shown in Figure 4, to the intervention of a seat 10 on which said housing is fixed by screws 11, said seat 10 being fixed, in this case, on the rib 12 in the form of dovetail of said frame .2 of the loom and firmly adjusted and fixed therein by the cooperation of an internally hazed profiled rim 13, on the one hand, and a clamp 14 clamped by a screw 15, on the other hand.
A correctly positioned fur 16 will be favorably interposed between the adjacent parts of the cartur 1 and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
seat 10. This casing comprises the mechanisms necessary for the synchronized actuation, respectively of a thread cutter 17 (Figures 7 and 9), of a hooking needle 18 (Figure 8) and, finally, of the device. delivery valve 19 (figures, 1, 3, 4).
These three essential elements, the synchronized movements of which must form the edge, are set in motion from a single motor axis 20, which rotates at the rate of one revolution per movement of the loom, that is to say by tightening a pick. This axis is supported on an inlet 21 of the casing by known bearings and is, on the one hand, immobilized lôngitudina- lement by a stop ring 22 and, on the other hand, by a pinion 23 secured to said axis' input by a radial pin 24.
Thrust bearings, known per se, are preferably interposed between the end faces of said inlet 21 and, respectively, the ring 22 and the pinion 23.
In said housing 1 also bears, by bearings known per se, an axis 25 parallel to the aforesaid motor axis 20. On this axis 25 are wedged a pinion 26 of the same diameter as the aforesaid pinion 23 wedged on the axis motor 20, a bevel gear 27 and two cams 28-29. The bevel gear 27 meshes with a second bevel gear 30 of the same diameter and wedged, by a pin 31, on an axis 32 perpendicular to the aforesaid axes 20-25.
This pin 32 is supported below, by a turning 33, on a bearing block 34 and at an intermediate point, by means of also known bearings, on a bearing 35 whose fixed part is welded to one of the walls of the general casing 1.
The aforesaid catch 34 is fixed, by means of a screw 36, to the underside / of the housing 1 and this fixed part or support of the catch is crossed right through by a hole 37, the diameter of which is greater than that of the axis 25 which therefore freely passes through said support. On the upper part of the axis 32 is fixed, by a pin 38, a ring 39 whose
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
upper face 40 has radial teeth. On the same axis 32 is fixed, by an axial clamping screw 41, a disc 42 lower extended by a bar-cutting 43, the lower face of which also has radial teeth capable of co-operating with the radial teeth 40 of the ring below. adjacent in order to be able to adjust the relative position of said disc 42 and to energetically secure this disc to said axis 32.
The disc 42 carries a crank knob 44 engaged in a slide 45 which is itself engaged with gentle friction in a slide 46. The latter is mounted oscillating around a pivot 47 bearing on a pad 48 also fixed to the adjacent face of the slide. general housing 1, The other end of the slide 46 is articulated, by a pivot 49, at one end of a lever 50, the other end of which carries a pivot 51 engaged in a slide 52 itself positive - ment guided in @@ e fixed slide 53. For questions of ease of assembly and take up play, said slide 53 comprises a branch or gib 54 attached, adjustable by screws 55 and fixed to the main part of the slide by screws 56.
Said screws have a diameter smaller than that of the passage holes of said branch or gib, so as to allow transverse adjustment thereof. In said epulisseau 52 is engaged the pivot 57 on which is mounted, by means of bearings also known, the actual delivery device, in this case shown at 19 and consisting of a profiled needle 58-58 'integral with a support 59 which attaches it to said pivot 57. The free end of the needle 58-58 delimits a contoured notch 60 approximately in the form of a V providing an easier entry of the thread.
The two sections 58-
58 'of said needle are secured in an adjustable manner' by a / ris of pressure 58 "so that the pressure of said needle on the thread can be kept substantially constant whatever the diameter of the thread.

Opposite and at a distance determined by the boss of the cam 28, a fixed stop is maintained, the object of which is to prevent any separation between the roller 92 and the cam 28, especially when the speed of the metering is particularly rapid.
Finally, the same motor axis 20 also conveniently sets the thread cutting device 17 in motion. For this purpose, the latter is constituted by the combination of a curved blade 98 fixed by screws 99 at the end of a lever 100 keyed on. a tubular sleeve 101 surrounding, with gentle friction, the aforesaid pin 89. This sleeve bears, by known bearings, on a nozzle 102 fixed to the adjacent wall of the casing 1 so that the aforesaid pin 89 also bears on said nozzle 102 via said sleeve and known bearings.
As has been described for the hooking needle 18, on said tubular sleeve 101 is wedged an arm 103 carrying the axis 104 of a roller 105 maintained in permanent contact with the aforesaid cam 29 by the return action. of a spring 106. Celuiki is trapped between a flat 107 present by said arm 103 and the corresponding part of the casing 1, both having guide pins, respectively 108-109 for said spring 106. Opposite and at a distance determined by the boss of the cam 29, a fixed stop 110 is maintained, the purpose of which is to prevent

expensive any separation between the roller 105 and the cam 29, especially when the rate of the loom is particularly fast.
This thread-cutting device is completed by a second curved blade 111 mounted on an axis 112 integral with the first blade 98. Said blade 111 is extended beyond said axis 112 and is articulated by a pivot 113 at the end of a crank 114. the other end of which is mounted on a pivot 115 bearing on a fixed part of the housing. In order to provide an elastic bias tending to apply said strips 98-111 one against the other, on the axis 112 is disposed a pressure spring 116.
The operation of this device is substantially as follows; considering, in the appended figures, that we have to do with the formation of the right selvedge, the normal warp threads being shown schematically at 117 and false warp threads being shown at 118-119. The device is shown in the starting position, the last pick deposited by the thread puller - (not shown) is shown schematically at 120, It will be observed that the end protruding from the pick, relative to the width of the web of warp threads , that is to say also of the fabric, surmounts the hooking needle 18, is engaged in the notch 60 of the delivery needle 19 and is engaged between the cutting blades 8-111 of the thread cutting device 17.
The axis 20 rotating at a rate of one revolution per movement of the loom of the loom, first of all causes the actuation of the thread cutter 17, which puts the pick to the exact predetermined length. This actuation of the thread cutter 17 occurs by the tilting of the blade complex 98, the lever 100, the sleeve 101, the arm 103, under the action of the cam 29, the boss of which urges the roller 105, the axis 25 of said. cam 29 being driven by said input shaft 20 via pinions 23-26.
The tilting of the aforesaid complex also causes the two blades 98-111 to come together by the solicitation of

the crank 114 which oscillates around its fixed pivot 115 by causing the blade 111 to pivot around the axis 112, At the same time, the more elongated boss of the second cam 28 pushes the roller 92 back, which causes it to oscillate around the axis 112 axis 89 the complex formed of the needle 86. the fixing device., 87., the lever 88 bringing the tip of said needle 86 to a level higher than the level of the pick 120.
Since the boss of cam 28 is substantially slower than that of cam 29, said high position of hooking needle 86 is maintained substantially after thread trimmer 17 has operated. In practice, at the moment when the thread cutting device 17 and the hooking needles 18 have been actuated, the delivery device 19 is set in motion.
The aim is to move the end of the pick 120 intended to form the selvedge, that is to say the part of the pick beyond the hooking needle 86 so as to make it undergo a corresponding trajectory. to the first part of the closed trajectory shown at 83. The aim of this special trajectory is to bring as much as possible to the edges of the fabric the end of the pick intended to screw up the selvedge and thus promote the formation of the latter, especially at great speed.
This very special movement of the discharge device is produced from the single motor axis 20, the spur gears 23-26, the bevel gears 27-30, the axis 32, the disc 42, the slide 45; the latter causes the slide 46 to move around its pivot 47 causing the axial displacement of the slide 52 in the slide 53; this slide drives the support 59 with its profiled needle 58 in a complex movement which is conditioned as follows: in the position shown in FIG. 1, the roller 78 is in contact with the cam 84 while the roller 67 is engaged in the corresponding adjournment 82.
In its first translational movement, that is to say in the direction of repression
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
from the end of the pick, the notched end 60 of the needle 58 will follow the first part of the path indicated at 83 because of the very path imposed by the postponement 82. At the end of the outward travel, the roller 78 comes in contact with the cam 85, which releases the roller 67 from the bearing 82 and engages the roller 66 in the opening 81. As a result, in the return movement, the notched end of the return needle 19 will follow the second part of the path or return path indicated at 83 to resume its waiting position between the hooking needle 18 and the thread cutting device 17.
From this return, the pick as well as the end of the pick brought back into the crowd are tightened in the traditional way. Thus, the selvage is carried out at the same time as the pick pieces remaining beyond the thread cutting device 17 are fixed in the warp threads 119, said false chain threads 118-119 being considered as waste. Manufacturing.
These different operations will obviously be synchronized in such a way that a complete cycle can be executed in the minimum of time, that is to say with a minimum of duration between successive operations.
It goes without saying that the various components described will be rationally adapted to the various cases of application in proportion to the types of trade to be equipped.
We can also apply the combination of the three essential elements characterizing this device in infinitely variable forms and animate them by these mechanisms other than those described, insofar as they fulfill the same combined functions with a view to similar results.
Any variants can also be envisaged by modifying the shape of the various elements involved in said combination with a view to adapting them to the cases of particular applications.
