<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Process for the preparation of alkylnitrophenol esters which are particularly suitable as fungicides and insecticides, and products thus obtained.
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of special esters of interest to phytotherapy by virtue of their ability to exert an effective fungicidal action, as well as to the use of these esters.
Nitrophenols have long been used in herbal medicine as antiparasitic agents, but their field of action was limited to a great extent owing to their high phytotoxicity attributed to the presence of the free phenolic group.
To overcome this drawback, some attempts have been made to block acidity by esterifying the hydroxyl group.
It has been found that certain alkylated and esterified nitrophenols are well suited to meet the requirements and are industrially preparable at a high degree of purity, with the near absence.
