L'invention est décrite ci-dessous en plus amples détails et en se référant aux dessins annexés dans lesquels : les figures 1 et 2 sont des représentations en perspective du bondon vu sous deux angles opposés; la figure 3 est une doupe axiale du bondon; la figure 4 est une coupe semblable à celle de la figure 3, montrant le bondon en place dans le fût et muni d'un robinet ou d'une conduite ; les figures 5 et 6 sont des représentations en perspective d'une forme de réalisation modifiée du bondon, comportant un membre porteur, vues sous deux angles opposés; la figure 7 est une coupe axiale du bondon avec membre porteur re- présenté aux figures 5 et 6; la figure 8 est une vue en perspective de l'élément bondon montré aux figures 5 et 6;

The object of this invention is to present a bung for beer kegs or similar containers for liquids, making it possible to adapt a tap or a pipe to said container without discharging the contents thereof during the operation.
A feature of the invention is that the bung which exhibits the aforementioned advantages comes flush with the outer wall of the drum when mounted, so that the drum can be rolled and handled just as usual.
The bung is made of semi-flexible plastic, such as for example a thermoplastic such as polyethene or a material from the styrene group, by a molding operation.
The bung has a cylindrical-conical body which adapts to the bung of the barrel. This body is provided with an outer shoulder intended to hook to the inner edge of the barrel around the strip. From this shoulder, a conical part directed inwards facilitates the introduction of the bung into the bung. At the outer beginning of the bung, there is an inner collar integral with it and with a connecting tube directed towards the inside of the barrel. This connection tube carries at its inner end a cap which is fixed thereto so as to be able to be knocked out by a valve or a pipe which would be introduced into said connection tube, the latter also being provided with a disc of 'sealing at its outer end.
In another embodiment, the bung consists of a cylindrical-conical bearing member with reduced outside diameter from a shoulder to the inside end, a groove being formed at the base of said shoulder. A bung element, made of semi-flexible plastic, has a disc with a flanged edge, the latter being provided with an inward bead. This bung element resiliently clamps on the reduced part of the cylindrical-conical support member. The bead is introduced into the groove mentioned above and the bung element is held in place by the pressure of the wall of the bung.
The disc of the bung member is made in such a way that it can be knocked out by the pressure of a valve or a pipe which would be introduced into the cylindrical-conical support member, the knocked-out parts joining after removal. of said valve or of said pipe. A removable sealing cap is provided at the outer end of said cylindrical-conical carrier member.
The invention is described below in greater detail and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figures 1 and 2 are perspective representations of the bung viewed from two opposite angles; FIG. 3 is an axial cutout of the bung; Figure 4 is a section similar to that of Figure 3, showing the bung in place in the drum and provided with a valve or a pipe; Figures 5 and 6 are perspective representations of a modified embodiment of the bung, including a supporting member, viewed from two opposite angles; Figure 7 is an axial section of the bung with supporting member shown in Figures 5 and 6; Figure 8 is a perspective view of the bung member shown in Figures 5 and 6;
FIG. 9 is a section similar to that of FIG. 7, showing the bung and its supporting member in place in a barrel and provided with a valve or a pipe.

With reference to the figures. 1 to 4, we see part 1 of the bung 'which is driven by hard friction in the bung and whose length is equal to the thickness of the wall 2 of the barrel. It is provided with a shoulder 3 designed to hook the inner wall of the barrel around the bung. The inner conical inlet 4 has a lesser material thickness and is therefore more flexible than part 1. This inlet 4 serves as a guide for the introduction of the bung into the barrel and, when using 'an extractor, facilitates the extraction of the bung by crashing. The holes 2 have been provided to allow gases or similar products which would be trapped inside the bung to escape.
The collar 6 which is directed towards the axis at the outer end of the part 1 is integral with a conical connecting tube 7 directed towards the inside of the barrel. This tube 7 is provided with an internal screw thread 8 to be able to receive a valve or a pipe 9. The internal end of the connection tube 7 is closed by a cap 10 which is connected to it so that it can be knocked out from the end. of the valve or of the pipe which would be introduced into said connecting tube 7.
The collar 6 is provided with an internal annular groove 11 where a sealing disc 12 in the form of a cup can be fixed by elasticity. The thickness of the disc has been reduced at a given location 13 which can easily be pierced by the disc extractor.
In the modified embodiment shown in Figures 5 to 9, the bung consists of a supporting member 14 with tapered inner and outer faces and which can be made of wood. Its outer diameter is reduced as at 15 from the shoulder 16 to the inner end, a groove 17 being formed at the base of said shoulder.
A plastic bung element consists of a disc 18 with flange 19, which is provided with an internal bead 20. It can also carry an outer bead 21 The bung element is made so as to resiliently clamp on the part to be reduced diameter 15 of the cylindrical supporting member 14 and the bead 20 fits in the groove 17. Positioned in this way, the collar 19 forms the extension of the outer wall of the cylindrical supporting member 14, the outer bead 21 projecting slightly .
The disc-shaped portion 18 of the bung element is provided along one of its diameters with a deep "V" groove 22 and on either side thereof, on a diameter perpendicular to the first. , a reinforcing bead 23. The "V" groove is arranged so that the disc can be broken through by the pressure of a valve or a pipe 24 (introduced into the cylindrical support member) and Reinforcing beads will help to close the opening when removing said valve or pipe.
When the bung is housed in a bung, the collar of the bung element is held on the bung by contact with the wall 25 of the barrel and by the locking of the bead 20 in the groove 17.
A removable sealing cap consists of a sleeve disc 26 of plastic material. It is provided to fit into the outer end of the cylindrical support member 14. It can be removed with a suitable tool. corn.
