The present invention relates to a method as well as to a rail for the manufacture of cabinets, containers and the like and for the assembly of walls forming angles of any type.
The object of the invention is to make the manufacture of these articles easier and more rational, in the first place for those who do not have special machinery for such production. Without special machines it is difficult to bend or bend plates in such a way that their surfaces take on a particular shape and have specific proportions. Thanks to the process and to the rod or to the profiled rail according to the invention, a uniform execution is also ensured and a more pleasant appearance is obtained.
The invention also has the very important advantage of saving significant space. Especially in the mass production of cabinets, containers etc ..., generally enough space is needed for the work of a large number of curved plates.
Thanks to the present invention it is possible to set up in a very simple manner the mass production of an article, the cutting of the parts or pieces of plate from which the article is assembled can be carried out in series, in such a manner. that we obtain a large number of parts of the same dimensions. The machining and mounting of accessories on the various sections of plates can be carried out according to the method of the invention without the difficulties generally accompanying the work of curved plates.
After cutting, machining and fitting the accessories, it is possible to proceed to the final assembly by means of the profiled rod. This profiled bead wire is described below with reference to the process according to the invention and to the drawing.
Fig. 1 represents a profiled rod.
Fig. 2 shows a corner assembly in section.
Fig. 3 shows by way of example of embodiment a box in which the profiled rod is used.
As seen in Fig. 1, the cross section of the profiled rod is such that the small hollow formed by the fact that two plates cut along a straight line come into contact at an angle, constitutes the head or the top of the profiled rod. This part can have a square cross section, but it can also be somewhat rounded.
As it follows from FIG. 2, the profiled rod is placed between two plates, which form an angle between them, so that the wings 1 and 2 of the profiled rod come to rest against the inner faces of the plates, while the edges of the plates abut against the bent part 3 of the plate, which in this case has a square cross section.
The small square has four sides and the edges 4 and 5 of the plates come up against the two sides of the square which are closest to the wings 1 and 2.
After the plates and profile rods have been assembled in the manner described, the associated parts are spot welded, riveted or screwed, for example the wing 1 of the profile rod with the plate 6 and 1 wing 2 of the rod with plate 7.
As seen in Fig. 2, the edges 4 and 5 of the plates are at a small distance from each other. This distance is obviously greater if the profile rod is made of a thicker material. It is, however, preferable to give the rod, which is dimensioned in accordance with the loads it has to bear, such a profile as to obtain a solid corner assembly and of pleasing appearance, while the head of the rod can also serve for the application of the plates, so that the plates occupy the correct position without the need for other means.

For round articles, for example round boxes or containers, the profiled rod must be bent according to the shape which the articles must adopt. Here again, according to the invention, a continuous and regular transition is obtained between the wall or base surfaces and the profiled rod.
Obviously, the two outer faces of the profiled rod must not form an angle, they can, if desired, form an arc so that the two surfaces of the object which are to be connected are united without any break in continuity.
The profiled rod may have notches, grooves or grooves, depending on the goal pursued. For this reason we are not limited to the embodiments described and illustrated, but on the contrary we can imagine variants within the scope of the invention. It is for example possible to introduce into the open channel a metal wire of suitable section, in accordance with the shape of the head of the rod. The profiled rod described can also be used for other uses than the assembly of metal constructions. The profiled rod can for example be used as a reinforcement for products made of synthetic materials, and the profiled rod can itself be made of a synthetic material.
