<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a centrifuge for spinning from small grain materials, comprising a rotating perforated drum subjected at the same time to. axial oscillations, in order to evacuate the dried material (oscillating centrifuge).
There is known a centrifuge with a perforated rotating drum and performing at the same time axial oscillations, which comprises in a hollow and fixed central shaft, a connecting rod whose upper end attacks the perforated drum by means of a bearing and a free coupling. The perforated drum is clamped between upper and lower oscillation springs, which rest on a shaft of the drum, mounted around the central and hollow shaft.
The present invention aims to improve such a centrifuge and, to this end, the perforated drum is provided with a bottom in the form of a truncated cone, which projects into the drum, and between this bottom
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Besides an upper cap in the form of a lantern, connected to the shaft of the drum, oscillation springs are provided and below the bottom is mounted a free coupling, which, by means of intermediate arms pass through the lantern, is connected to the bearing provided at the upper end of the connecting rod.
A centrifuge thus constructed is characterized, among other things, in that the drum is very light. It can therefore be subjected to an oscillation at very high axial accelerations at the cusps, without the bearing of the drum shaft being excessively stressed by the inertia forces which then occur and without the bearing's lifetime. be reduced.
In order to thoroughly squeeze the centrifuged material, it is necessary to have a great acceleration of the centrifugal force at the periphery of the drum. On the other hand, the bearing pressure of the material on the wall of the drum is all the higher as the centrifugal acceleration is great. This means that for a strong centrifugal acceleration, it is necessary to work with strong axial accelerations, so that the material is safely removed from the drum. Thanks to the strong axial accelerations, which can be used in the centrifuge according to the present invention, it is therefore possible to ensure a high level of spinning and at the same time the removal of the material drained from the drum, while sparing the bearing. the drum shaft.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a middle longitudinal section through an oscillating centrifuge, Figure 2 is a section through line II-II, Figure 3 shows, on a larger scale, a detail, and Figure 4 is a sectional view. nar line IV-IV.
The centrifuge comprises a perforated drum 1, in the form of a truncated cone, open at the top and having a perforated wall 2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The average diameter D of the perforated drum is about 1000 mm, and the generatrix of the drum wall has an inclination of about 10 on the axis of the drum. The latter has a conical bottom 3 which protrudes into the drum and comprises, at the upper part, a top 4, and at the lower part, a horizontal underside 5 yes, advantageously, slightly exceeds the lower edge of the wall. of the drum.
On the upper edge of the drum are mounted a flange 6 and a conical ring 7 directed downwards. Such a drum can be constructed with sufficient strength, while having a total weight of about 120k
On the frame 8 is fixed a shaft 9, hollow, central and fixed. It is surrounded by the drum shaft, which is hollow and consists of two parts 10 and 11 screwed into each other, and it can rotate on the central axis in two tapered roller bearings, without being able to slide axially. . At a certain distance below the bottom of the drum, the shaft carries a collar 14 with a diameter substantially equal to that of the bottom. To this collar is fixed a grooved pulley 23.
Part 11 of the tree is in the shape of a lantern at its upper end and has four in this place. openings 15 distributed regularly (Figure 2). The lantern is closed at the top by a cap 16, fixed by screws 17 to the uprights 18 of the lantern.
Advantageously, to the cap is fixed by ribs 19, a cone 20 which surrounds at a certain distance both the cap and the bottom, leaving an annular space 21.
Between the top of the bottom and the cap 16, there are regularly distributed in a circle three oscillation springs 24, or more, and between the bottom of the bottom and the flange 14, three oscillation springs 25, or more. In this way, the drum is connected to the shaft of the drum so that it can oscillate. The oscillation springs are advantageously made of rubber. Instead of the upper oscillation springs 24, a single rubber ring spring can also be used. Such a spring has the advantage of closing the annular space 21 inwardly, vis-à-vis the shaft of the drum.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The lower oscillation springs 25, can also be replaced by a single annular rubber spring.
In the central hollow shaft is housed a connecting rod 26 of an eccentric control. The head 27 of the connecting rod has a bearing 28 and surrounds an eccentric 29 wedged on a shaft 30. The shaft is journaled in two bearings 31 and 32, provided in the central are. As seen in Figures 3 and 4, the big end constitutes a separate element. It is connected to the connecting rod proper by a pivot 33 placed perpendicular to the eccentric shaft. The big end and the eccentric thus together form a cardan joint.
At the upper end of the. connecting rod 26, is mounted a movable bearing 37; for example an oscillating roller bearing 34. It is housed in a housing 35 with a cover 36. The upper edge of the housing 35 has four radial shoulders 37 ;, which engage with sufficient play in the openings 15 of the lantern.
To these shoulders 37, a sleeve 38 is fixed using corresponding arms 45. This sleeve ends at a certain distance. this below the bottom, where it is provided with a horizontal rim 39 directed outwards. It is clamped between two annular rubber dampers 41 and 40 resting at the top against the bottom and at the bottom against the flat ring 42 which, in turn, is fixed to the bottom by screws 44 with the interposition of spacing nozzles - ment 43. In this way, the connecting rod is read back to the drum like a free coupling.
Thanks to the movable bearing 34 at the upper end of the connecting rod and to the cardan joint at its lower end, this connecting rod can be placed obliquely in all directions and follow any oscillations of the drum. This avoids angular pressures which otherwise would occur in the bearing 28.,
The perforated drum is surrounded by a fixed tarpaulin 46. The outer wall thereof ends at. some distance
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
below the. flange 6, and surround the conical ring 7 with a little play. The tarpaulin is well closed at this point to prevent the water from escaping.
The tarpaulin has at the bottom an outlet pipe 50 and it is fixed by several ribs 51 'to the outer support wall 52.
The latter surrounds the tarpaulin at a distance such that an annular chamber 53 remains. The wall 52 is, in turn, fixed to the frame.
8, by several ribs 54. It is provided at the bottom with two feet
55 or more, with the aid of which, and -because the intermediate of low elastic constant shock absorbers 56, preferably of rubber; the centrifuge is supported on a hopper 57. On a console 58 of the wall 52, a motor 59 is mounted which attacks the grooved pulley 23 'by several trapezoidal belts. A roof 70 is provided above the belts, in the. annular chamber 53.
On the side opposite to the motor 59, is mounted on a console 61, a second motor
62, which through a transmission to. belts 63 and an elastic coupling 65, is connected to the eccentric shaft
30. At the top, the centrifuge is closed by a roof 66 having a central opening 67. In it a pipe 68 passes, for the supply of the material to be centrifuged, which opens out. inside the conical casing.
In operation, the shaft 10, 11 of the drum is rotated by the motor 59, at a speed of 450 revolutions per minute for example. The torque generated at the drum shaft is transmitted through the collar 14 and the cap 16 to the oscillation springs 24, 25 and from there to the perforated drum which thus rotates at the same speed as the shaft. ' For the aforementioned speed of 450 revolutions per minute, the centrifugal acceleration at the periphery of the drum shell corresponds on average to about 100 times the acceleration of the earth.
At the same time, the motor 62 subjects the drum, by means of the eccentric shaft 30, the connecting rod 26 and the free coupling 40, 41, to axial oscillations which have, for example,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
example, a frequency of 35 hertz and an amplitude of 3 mm. The axial acceleration which the drum then undergoes at each cusp corresponds to approximately 15 times the acceleration of the earth. For a total weight of 120 kg and the aforementioned axial acceleration, the drum therefore has in its cuspid positions an inertia force of about 1800 kg. This can be absorbed by the bearings 12, 13 with conical rollers, without danger for their service life.
The material to be wrung out, for example wet charcoal fines with a caliber of about 0 to 10 mm, is introduced into the centrifuge through the pipe 68. The charcoal fines arrive on the cap 16 in the annular chamber 21, in which, under the effect of friction by adhesion on the cone 20 and on the bottom 3, they are accelerated in the direction of rotation of the perforated drum. After leaving the annular chamber 21, the carbon fines arrive on the wall of the perforated drum 2. The fines move upwards on this wall, under the effect of the oscillations of the drum. During this time they are wrung out to a very great extent, under the effect of the strong centrifugal acceleration mentioned above, corresponding to about 100 times the acceleration of the earth.
The coal fines exit the drum over the flange 6 and fall through the annular chamber 53 into the hopper. The trapezoidal belts 60 are then protected by the roof 70 against damage due to the falling coal. The water separated from the charcoal during the dewatering passes through the perforations in the wall and is collected in the tank 46. It is continuously discharged therefrom through the pipe 50.
As can be seen in Figure 1, the lower oscillation springs 25 lie on a circle of a fairly large diameter.
On the other hand, the upper oscillation springs 24 are very far apart vertically from each other. This ensures great stability of the drum with respect to the oscillations which are then generated, @ when, for example, there is an imbalance in the drum.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
weight due to the irregular arrival of the material to be wrung out.
The centrifuge according to the present invention also offers the advantage that the conical casing is connected to the cap.
16 to the drum shaft and therefore does not participate in the oscillations of the drum, but only rotates.
