<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to a beet harvester of the type comprising, in particular, a frame carrying, on the one hand, a U-shaped frame open at the top and. consisting of / two independent L-shaped parts, each carrying at their lower end, located close to the ground, a stripping point and, on the other hand, a paddle wheel which, as the harvester advances, turns by in a continuous manner around an axis parallel to the direction of advance of the harvester, the pallets being of such length that when they are in the low position, their ends pass flush with the ground.
As is known, the harvesters of this type currently in use have certain drawbacks. Indeed, the parts
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
L-shaped cheek bearing the arra / ge points. are rigid and plow the soil in such a brutal way that often the beets are mutilated. @
Another drawback of current machines is that the frame clogs up, more or less quickly, with waste lying around on the field. As a result of this incident, work must be stopped periodically to allow the frame to be cleaned.
It should also be pointed out that the harvesters, currently known, reject the beets pulled up at a variable distance from the machine, which considerably increases the time of picking.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. To this end, in the harvester according to the invention, each of the L-shaped parts forming the frame comprises at least one spring which tends to press it against the neighboring L-shaped part, so that during the operation of beet pulling the two pieces in
L, normally pressed against each other, deviate more or less from each other according to the resistance encountered.
This flexible plowing softens the soil and prevents the penetration of the tearing tips into the beets, which are harder than the soil.
As a result, the beets are pulled out more easily and are not mutilated at the time of pulling.
According to a preferred embodiment of the object of the invention, the harvester comprises at least one movable pallet periodically engaging in the frame formed by the two L-shaped parts and in this way clears the interior of the frame of waste. accumulating there during labor.
@
On the other hand, according to another preferred embodiment, at least one L-shaped part constituting the frame is provided with - a squeegee disposed behind the frame, vertically with respect to the frame.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
port on the ground and at an angle to the direction of movement of the harvester, so that its end near the frame is facing the upright of the L-shaped piece, while the other end is located substantially opposite the middle of the frame, so that any torn beet is automatically pushed towards the middle of the frame, where it is picked up by one of the pallets of the wheel, and thrown by the latter to the side of the harvester.
Since the beets are sown in parallel rows, at a distance of 60 cm from each other, the harvester according to the present invention has several frames placed in front, while the corresponding paddle wheels are arranged in steps, so as not to hinder the movement of beets rejected by the pallets.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended hereto, and which represent, by way of non-limiting example, a particular embodiment of the subject of the invention.
FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the rear of the harvester according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a schematic side view of the puller shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a schematic horizontal projection of the harvester shown in Figure 1.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate similar elements.
The beet harvester shown in the drawings is of the type comprising, in particular, a frame 1 carrying, on the one hand, the three frames 2, 3, 4, and, on the other hand, the three paddle wheels 5, 6 and 7, arranged in the extension of the aforementioned frames. Since the sowing of beets has been standardized
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and is carried out in rows spaced from each other by about 60 cm, the shafts 8, 9 and'10 carrying the paddle wheels, respegm tively 5, 6 and 7, are also arranged at 60 cm l 'one of the other.
Each frame is U-shaped and consists of two L-shaped pieces, 11 / and 12, independent of each other. The lower ends 13 of these, located near the ground, each bear; a pulling point 14.
In accordance with the invention, the post 15 of each L-shaped piece consists of leaf springs and is therefore flexible. Normally, parts 11 and 12 are pressed together. Thanks to the flexibility of the post 15, if a pulling point 14 encounters a beet, it goes around it instead of piercing it, as happens when the post 15 is rigid. The invention therefore has the advantage of making it possible to avoid mutilation of the beets when they are harvested.
On the other hand, as we know, during work, frames 2, 3 and 4 are very quickly clogged with waste of all kinds, scattered on the field. To remedy this drawback, the frame 1 carries a shaft 16 disposed in front of the frames 2, 3 and 4 and rotating when the harvester advances. In front of each frame are mounted two pallets 17 and 18, which; while rotating, periodically enter the frame in front of which they are placed and expel the waste that has accumulated there from it.
As is known, the evacuation of the torn beets takes place via the pallet wheels 5,6 and 7. The length of. these pallets 19 is such that, when their free end 20 is at the lowest point of its travel, it passes flush with the ground. It is at this moment that it gives the beets encountered a blow which throws them towards the outside of the machine. So that the beets are presented in the best
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
conditions in front of the pallets 19, the frames 2, 3 and 4 are provided with a squeegee 21, formed by the slats 22.
These scrapers are fixed to part 6 of the frames and, being arranged at an angle, push the torn beets back towards the middle of their respective frames.
To avoid the dispersion of the beets projected by the pallets 19, the harvester is provided with a stop 23, placed next to the machine. This way, after the digger has passed, all the beets are brought together in a row.
As the harvester shown in the drawings comprises three frames 2, 3 and 4, and three paddle wheels 5, 6 and 7, so as not to interfere with the movement of the beets thrown by the paddle wheels, these are arranged in bleachers.
On the other hand, the speed of the paddle wheels is not the same, that of the wheel 7 furthest from the stop 23 is the greatest, while that of the wheel 5 closest to the stop 23 is the smallest. In this way, all the beets arrive at the -stop 23, being animated, approximately, at the same speed.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described, and that many modifications can be made to the latter without departing from the present patent.
