<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to a device for the regular supply of an appliance with movable material, comprising a corridor mounted as a carrier on a support elastically carried by leaf springs mounted on a rigid frame in such a manner. in bringing this support back to a position of equilibrium after having been removed therefrom under the action of a pulsed current which supplies an electromagnet whose frame is fixed to said support and whose yoke is carried by said frame, the displacements of said reinforcement taking place in an oblique direction with respect to that of the end of the corridor.
Its purpose is to allow easy adjustment of the tension of the aforesaid leaf springs so as to bring the oscillation frequency of the parts into resonance or almost in resonance with the frequency of the pulsed current which supplies the electromagnet, in view of to reduce the consumption of electrical energy necessary for the advancement of the material in the corridor.
The apparatus according to the invention comprises a device for adjusting the tension of the above-mentioned leaf springs.
A simple way to adjust the tension of the leaf springs is to subject them to the action of at least one additional spring, the tension of which is adjustable.
According to a particular embodiment applicable in the case where the corridor support is supported elastically by two bundles of blades / placed in the field and whose ends are immobilized with respect to the rigid frame, two additional adjustable tension springs act,

feels in opposition on the two packs of blades.
Preferably, the device for adjusting the tension of the two additional springs acting in opposition to the two packs of leaves acts simultaneously on these two additional springs so as to cause equal and opposite variations in tension.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically represent, and by way of example only, three embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a vertical section through a plane designated by line 1-1 in Figure 2 in a first embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section along the line II-II of Figure 1.
FIG. 3 very schematically shows, in vertical section, part of another embodiment in which the adjacent ends of two helical springs serving for adjusting the tension of the spring blades bear on the support of the corridor.
FIG. 4 shows a plan of the elements shown in FIG. 1, after partial breaking.
FIG. 5 shows in vertical section another adjustment device applicable in the case of use of a single pack of leaf springs.
In Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a device for regularly advancing a loose material poured into a corridor 2 mounted cantilever on a support 3. The latter is resiliently carried by two packs of leaf springs 4 and 5 placed field and whose ex-

hoppers Are immobilized in a rigid frame 6. The latter essentially comprises two side walls 7 and 8 joined by spacers 9, 10 and 11 The walls 7 and 8 have eyelets 12 through which the rigid frame 4 can be suspended from brackets. chains.
On this frame, is fixed the yoke of an electromagnet supplied by pulsed current. the frame 14 of this electromagnet is fixed on the support 3 of the corridor. the electro-magnet is directed so that its frame oscillates in a plane forming with the plane of the bottom of the corridor 2 an angle advantageously between 10 and 30.
To adjust the tension of the spring leaf packs 4 and 5 and, consequently, to vary the frequency of oscillation of these leaves, of all the parts which they support and of the load contained in the corridor, a rod 15 immobilized axially with respect to the spacer 10 which it passes through is rotated by means of nuts 16, this rod having two threads in opposite directions on which are engaged plates 17 and 18 serving as 'support to additional springs 19 and 20. These are coil springs which, on the other hand, support on the leaf spring packs 4 and 5, through parts 28 and 29 forming part of the mobile crew.
These springs therefore act in opposition on these packets of blades and simultaneously cause variations in tension thereof equal and opposite when the rod 15 is rotated. Locknuts 21 serve to immobilize the plates 17 and 18 relative to the rod. 15 when the setting is complete.
Thanks to this arrangement,) we can therefore easily adapt the device would have said material flow rates.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
without disassembly and prolonged shutdown of this device.
In addition, the distance between the movable armature 14 and the yoke 13 of the electromagnet is not modified.
To obtain this result, it is not essential that the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2 be adopted. In FIGS. 3 and 4, another embodiment has been shown in which the rod 15 is immobilized axially with respect to a rib 22 which the support 3 has downwards. To simplify the figures, it has not been shown. the oscillating corridor nor the electromagnet which causes the oscillations.
The helical springs 19 and 20 which press on the spacers 9 and 11 of the rigid frame, act in opposition to the packs of blades 4 and 5 by means of the rib 22 and the support 3.
If the oscillating corridor were carried only by a single pack of leaf springs, it would still be possible to easily modify the tension of these by the action of an additional spring acting on them in an adjustable manner but in this case the air gap would vary between the armature and the yoke of the electromagnet.
It will also be understood that, whatever the number of packets of leaf springs placed de.champ, it is not essential to use one or more helical springs in order to be able to adapt the device according to the invention to the treatment of different loads. In FIG. 5, some elements of a third embodiment have been shown in which a single pack of leaf spring 5 receives the elastic thrust of a leaf spring 23, through the intermediary of a support piece 24. The thrust transmitted to the pack of blades 5 is adjustable by a screw 25 engaged in a piece

integral with the rigid frame, not shown.
In the case where two adjustable tension springs acting in opposition to two packets of leaf springs which support the oscillating corridor are used, it is also not essential to modify the simultaneously. the same amount of tension of these two additional springs in order to be able to adapt the device according to the invention to the treatment of different loads, but in this case the adjustment is itself slightly longer.
