<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to an elastic belt comprising a front part and a rear part, the front part being provided with a reinforcement. Various systems have already been planned so far, but to be really effective, they must compress too strongly and are unpleasant to wear. The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback. For this purpose, the reinforcement, which is also elastic, is provided on the outer side of the front part, and is fixed to the front part by its two ends, preferably by means of side seams serving at the same time to join the front part. and the rear part, the reinforcement having, in the width direction, smaller dimensions than those of the corresponding portion of the front part.
In this way, the reinforcement undergoes a greater tension than the front part of the belt and serves to properly support the abdomen and to erase it.
In this particularly advantageous embodiment, the reinforcement comprises two crossed bands, symmetrically arranged and cut so that the direction of the length of each band is the normal direction of extension of the elastic fabric constituting this band, the bahdes being placed at the side. height required to retract the abdomen.
In a particular embodiment, the reinforcement comprises an additional strip arranged substantially parallel to the direction of the width of the belt, at a height determined so that the upper edge of this strip is located a little below the point of intersection of the bands. lower edges of the two crossed bands.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawing appended to this memory and which shows, by way of non-limiting examples, two embodiments of a belt according to the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a belt according to the invention and seen from the front.
Figure 2 shows, in elevation, part of the rear of the belt of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is similar to Figure 1, but relates to a variant.
Figure 4 is a section on the line IV-IV of Figure 3.
Figure 5 shows a portion of the front part of the belts of Figures 1 and 3.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate similar elements.
The belt shown in Figures 1, 2 and 5 comprises a front part 1 and a rear part 2, which are both made of elastic fabric and which are joined by means of side seams 3 and 4. It is possible to provide ribs at the front part 5.
The belt is reinforced by means of two crossed bands 6 and 7 arranged symmetrically and fixed at their ends in the side seams 3 and 4. These bands are cut so that the direction of the length of each band, being the normal direction of extension of the elastic fabric constituting this band. In other words, the "straight grain" is perpendicular to the edges of the bands. The bands 6 and 7 are arranged at the desired height to compress and retract the abdomen. Furthermore, these bands have a length such that they form an assembly which is more than the corresponding portion of the belt on which they are laid.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The dimensions of the reinforcement are therefore smaller, in the direction of the width of the belt, than those of the corresponding portion of the front part of the belt:
There is also provided an additional reinforcing strip 8, disposed substantially parallel to the direction of the width of the belt, at a height determined so that the upper edge 9 of this strip is located a little below the point of intersection 10 of the lower edges of bands 6 and 7 (figure 5).
However, to avoid any projection in front of the abdomen between band 9 and bands 6 and 7, the midpoint of edge 9 and point 10 (figure 1) are brought together, which slightly bends band 8 and increases the width. 'reinforcement effectiveness
The bands 6, 7 and 8 have the same height and are preferably made of an elastic fabric thinner than that which constitutes the belt, so as to avoid excess thicknesses.
It is useful to spare, at the lower edge of the front part 1 of the belt, a notch 11 in the shape of an inverted V. To facilitate the insertion of the belt, a lacing 12 is provided in the middle of the back.
When the belt has a sufficiently large height and is therefore intended to rise above the waist, as is the case in Figures 3 and 4, there are provided in addition to the bands 6, 7 and 8, in question above, an upper strip 13, arranged substantially parallel to the direction of the width of the belt, at a height determined so that the lower edge 14 of this strip 13 is located a little above the point of intersection 15 of the upper edges of the two bands 6 and 7. The band 13 has the same height as the bands 6, 7 and 8, and, like the latter, has a shorter length than that of the corresponding portion of the front part 1. We see from the this arrangement clearly remains in Figure 4.
At the belt of Figures 3 and 4, the bands 6, 7 and 8 are arranged as in Figure 1 and point 10 is once again joined in the middle of edge 9.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the two embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to the latter without departing from the scope of the present patent CLAIMS.
