ROBINET A SOUPAPE AUXILIAIRE.

AUXILIARY VALVE.
The present invention relates to a valve comprising a cup-shaped shutter body mounted so as to be pressed by a hollow rod against an annular seat provided in the valve, such that the shutter edge of the plate can be pressed together. tight, using a packing ring, against the annular seat, in the center of which is the valve inlet.
The main characteristic of the invention consists in that the valve is provided with an auxiliary valve in the form of a cylindrical plug placed in the cup-shaped shutter body and the lower and upper end longitudinal parts of which are threaded. The threaded parts are required to be screwed into appropriate threads, provided respectively in the inlet orifice of the valve and in a central orifice in the bottom of the cup-shaped obturator body.
The upper threaded part of the plug moves freely in the bore of the rod, its end being able to be turned using a tool, a socket wrench for example, which is inserted through this bore,
The cylindrical plug serves as an auxiliary valve when, after having been screwed into the inlet of the tap, it closes the latter, for example when it comes to replacing the seal ring of the tap.
In order to better explain the fundamental principle of the invention, a preferred embodiment thereof will be described below, while highlighting other advantages of this invention.
The description relates to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side view of the valve, part in vertical section.
Fig. 2 is a cross section of this valve along II-II of fig 1.
The valve shown in these drawings has a valve body

valve 1 with annular seat 2 in the center of which there is an inlet orifice 3. To ensure the closure of the inlet orifice 3, the valve is provided with a cylindrical plug body 4 in the form of a cup, mounted to move guided in a cylindrical bore 5 of the valve body 1. The shutter 4 has a flat horizontal bottom 6, its shutter edge 7 being lined with a sealing ring 8. When closing the orifice of arrival 3, the packing ring 8 is pressed against the seat 2 by the fact that the control rod 9 is screwed from top to bottom in a sleeve 10 screwed on a connection II formed on the upper part of the body 1. To ensure the Sealing of the rod 9, the upper end of the sleeve 10 is provided with a stuffing box.
The rod 9 has a central bore 12, the upper end of which is closed by a screw 13. At the upper end of the rod 9 is removably fixed a handwheel 14, the lower end of the rod bearing on the face. upper (outer) bottom of the obturator organ. When the rod is fully screwed in, the obturator is pressed against the seat 2. When the rod is unscrewed, the obturator is lifted by the pressure of the liquid and releases the inlet orifice 3.
The valve is provided with an auxiliary valve in the form of a cylindrical plug 15 disposed inside the shutter 4. This plug has a cylindrical bead 16 which guides it in the cylindrical bore of the shutter. The two ends of the plug 15 are formed by the respective threaded parts 17 and 18, both preferably cut at the same pitch. The upper threaded part 17 is screwed into a central orifice 19 provided in the bottom 6 of the shutter and moves freely in the bore 12 of the rod 9.
The lower part 18 can be screwed into a corresponding thread 20 provided in the inlet orifice 3, so that a conical annular face 21, located immediately inside the threaded part 18, comes to rest against a corresponding conical seat 22, provided along the inner edge of the inlet orifice 3. In order to allow the rotation of the plug 15, the end of the upper threaded part 17 is constituted by a square end 23; on which can be engaged a socket wrench ihséré through the bore 12 of the rod, after removal of the handwheel 14 and the screw 13. The auxiliary valve is intended to stop the passage of liquid in the valve, by example when it comes to replacing the packing ring 8.
After having thus closed the inlet orifice 3, the sleeve 10 is unscrewed and it is removed together with the control rod 9. The obturator 4 is then unscrewed from the upper threaded part 17 of the plug 15 using 'a special key which engages in two holes 24 drilled in the outer face of the bottom of the shutter, after which the ring 8 is replaced and the shutter 4, the sleeve 10 and the rod 9. The cap 15 is then unscrewed using the socket wrench, until the bead 16, the upper annular face of which is provided with a jam washer 25, comes to rest against the inner lower face of the shutter, which prevents liquid from entering through the central orifice 19, to go up in the bore of the rod.
The most important advantage of the auxiliary valve according to the invention is that it is accessible from above, for example when it is used in taps intended for washbasins or the like.
It goes without saying that the invention can undergo various modifications without departing from its fundamental principles. For example, the sealing ring 8 and the sealing washer 25 can be mounted freely.
