<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>

<EMI ID=12.1>
<EMI ID=13.1>

OF IRON.
This invention relates to a heavy-duty road vehicle for transporting cars or railway wagons.
The object of the invention is to enable the railway wagon to be removed from the track without having recourse to special fixed installations, to transport it on an ordinary road to its destination and to leave it, for the time necessary to unload it, on a section 'of' track

wagon in as simple a way as possible, by providing members which make it possible to lower the tail of the road vehicle on the ground and to arrange the platform in an inclined plane,
Another object of the invention is the elimination of any spring, while improving the suspension and road holding by the use of a reduced number of wheels mounted on large diameter tires, instead of a large one. number of tubeless tires (solid tires).
The elasticity of the long frame also improves the load distribution on the wheels as well as the ability to overcome any unevenness in the terrain.
Other subjects of the invention will become apparent on reading the description which follows referring, by way of indication and not limiting, to the appended drawing which shows one of the preferred embodiments of the invention. In the drawing: Figure 1 is an end view of the transport vehicle weight <EMI ID = 4.1> Figure 2 is a side view of the vehicle, its tail lowered on the ground, a section of track being in-train d '' be lowered on the ground to transfer the wagon there for the unloading operation and other ancillary operations. <EMI ID = 5.1> Figure 4 shows the middle axle of the vehicle.

Figures 12 and 13 show, in elevation, one of the jacks used for raising and lowering the rear end of the vehicle; Finally, FIG. 14 is a plan view of such a jack.
According to the invention, the transport vehicle consists essentially of a heavy vehicle mounted on three axles, 1,
<EMI ID = 7.1>
On the rear frame 5 is fixed the track 6, on which the wagon 7 is mounted, retained in the desired position by means of wedges 8 or other usual locking devices.
On the front frame 4 are arranged the traction drive and control mechanisms of the accessory mechanisms, such as the hauling winch 9, the pumps and the oil distributor for the cylinders and the brakes.
The front axle of the vehicle essentially fulfills a steering and, where appropriate, traction function; the intermediate axle 2 fulfills a steering, driving and carrying function; the rear axle 3.a steering and load-bearing function.
The rear frame 5 is articulated on the intermediate axle 2 for rotation in at least two directions, namely, around the vertical axis X-X and the horizontal axis Y-Y. The frame 5 thins near the joint, where it forms a fork in the vertical plane and it is articulated to the sliders 11 and 12 of the balance 13 oscillating in turn in the two supports 14, 15 around the axis YY of the intermediate axle 2 (fig. 4).
The rear axle has two stub axles 16, 17 (fig. 3), on which are mounted the hubs of the pneumatic tires 18 19, articulated to the two knuckle carriers 20,21, which are not fixed, but can be attached to the rear end 22 of the frame side members 5 using a retaining pin 23, when the vehicle is ready for travel (fig. 6), and can be moved outward to remove the wheels of the chassis (fig. 5), in order to load and unload the vehicle, to allow the passage of the wagon which goes up or down.
To make this maneuver possible, each knuckle holder 20 is connected, using the arm 24, to a mechanical device with a deformable parallelogram, formed of two arms 25, 26, situated in different planes, of the arm 24 and of the console 27 integral with the frame. The knuckle holder 20 moves vertically in the arm 24 by means of the prismatic guides 28, 29, provided
<EMI ID = 8.1>
that 32 or other equivalent means rotates the toothed sector 30, sa-lidaire of one of the arms 25, and the arms of the parallelogram, 'bringing the knuckle carrier and the associated wheels closer to or away from the frame. The prismatic guides 28,29 allow the rocket to maintain its normal height above the ground, when lowering the tail of the vehicle and the deformable parallelogram.
The rockets 16 and 17 are connected to each other by means of a steering tie rod 46, actuated, via a short rod, by means of a double lever 47 pivotally mounted on the frame, around a vertical axis. The ends of this lever, equidistant from the center of rotation, are connected by rods 48 and 49 to a lever 50, identical to the lever 47, but mounted near the intermediate axle. At the ends of the lever 50 are secured the ends of a chain passing, for example, on a toothed wheel 150 (FIG. 4) supported by the intermediate axle. This arrangement ensures the transmission of movement from the intermediate axle to the wheels 19 and 18 of the intermediate axle.
According to the variant shown in Figures 7 and 8 of the assembly of the rear wheels, the latter are fixed to the frame using a fastener.

integral with the knuckle carrier 105, the cantilevered ends of which engage in the corresponding seats of the half-supports 101, 101 '.
In order to fix the knuckle holder with blocking to the frame ready for walking, a cross member 106 is provided in the knuckle carrier which can be moved vertically by means of a worm 107 driven by the hand wheel 108 provided with a ratchet. stop. We lower the crossbar until it is
<EMI ID = 10.1>
relative factor between the knuckle holder and the chassis.
Thanks to this device, the load is supported by the solid hooks law, 101 ', while the blocking members only support the weight of the wheels, when they are raised above the ground.
A flange 119, integral with the lower part of the knuckle holder
105, is used to secure the knuckle holder to the arm 110 of an oscillation mechanism (Figures 9 to 11). This mechanism essentially comprises an arm 110, pivoting at 111 at one end of the rod 112 of a double-acting compressed air cylinder, the body 113 of which is integral with the frame. At its opposite end, the rod 112 is integral with a balance 114 movable on two guides 115, 116 arranged so as to prevent the rotation of the balance and therefore of the rod, in a given direction. A rod 118 is articulated at 117 to the arm 110 and it is fixed at its opposite end at 119, so as to be able to pivot on a support 120 movable on a guide 121 under the action of a counter spring 122.
One or more hydraulic cylinders 32 are arranged towards the rear end of the frame 5 on either side thereof, with a view to raising and lowering the tail of the frame. The cylinder body 32 (figures 12, 13 and
14) is fixed to the side member 22 of the frame, and its support plate 33 is articulated to the end of the movable piston 34. At the end of the piston is also articulated a rod 35, coupled by the adjustable spring 36 to the lever 37 articulated in 38 on the frame. Lever 37 supports the fork stem
36 'rotating on the ZZ axis and fitted with a small wheel 39. At the upper end of the fork rod fits, at 40, by a prismatic end, a guide bar for the steering of the wheel 39. When the vehicle is in running condition, the cylinder support plate and the wheel are raised out of contact with the ground (fig. 12).
When the jack is actuated, the vehicle being stationary, if the rear frame is unloaded, contact with the ground only takes place on the edge of the wheel 39, the spring being calibrated so as to support the weight of the unloaded frame. , corresponding to the corresponding cylinder. On the other hand, if the chassis is loaded, the weight of the load is <EMI ID = 11.1>
cylinder plate to rest on the ground and to support its portion of the applied load. This allows, when the vehicle is unloaded, small movements of the rear of the vehicle by the turning of the wheels 39.
<EMI ID = 12.1>
re of the frame 5, at each end of the elements of the track 6; this ramp is actuated by means of a jack 42; it is intended to connect the rails 6 of the vehicle to the rails on which the wagon is taken or placed. By virtue of these connection ramps 41, it is possible to easily assemble and dismantle the sections of rails 43, suitably articulated, used for laying the wagon on the ground. The pivoting of the ramps provided by means of the jack 42 thus folds, from their developed position, the rails 43 which are associated with them, with a view to loading them onto the vehicle or placing them on the ground. The rear ends of the rails are provided with wheels 44 which can be secured to the ends 45 of the frame 5, at a height such that they come into contact with the ground when the rear of the vehicle is lowered.
The maneuvers to be carried out to pick up and set up the wagon are simple. First of all, the vehicle is arranged so that the side members of its rear frame are approximately parallel to the rails on which the wagon is located. Using the jacks 32, the rear part of the frame is raised in order to move the rear wheels away from the ground and, by properly orienting the wheels 39 by hand, the final alignment and the approach of the vehicle to the wagon to be made easier. move. The b, coupling arre 46 of the steering is removed and the device 23 blocking the stub axle 20 on the spar is opened, and the wheels are moved apart (FIG. 5) by actuating the jack 30. After having lowered the jacks 32, the rear of the chassis descends until it comes into contact with the ground.
To allow the wagon to cross the slight difference in residual level, the connecting ramps 41 are lowered and, after having blocked the vehicle brakes, the cable is hooked to the wagon which is hoisted using the winch 9 and which is blocked on the rails 6. The jacks 32 are then actuated by lifting the tail of the chassis, in order to bring the rear wheels together, to block the knuckle carrier on the spar and to put the coupling bar back in place. 46. The loading operations end with the lowering of the jacks, which are brought back to their end-of-stroke position (fig. 12). Before the departure of the vehicle, care is taken to take from the depot, using an appropriate trolley, a section of articulated track 43 and to assemble it to the ramps 41, without neglecting, after hauling it, to hook the wheels 44 at the ends
45 of the chassis.
To remove the wagon, the jacks 32 are actuated, with a view to freeing the rear wheels and allowing them to be spaced apart, as indicated in FIG. 5. After having lowered the rear of the frame and unhooking the wheels 44, we develop on the ground the track section 43 (fig. 2) by actuating the jacks 42. All you have to do then is release the winch 9 and lower the wagon resting on track 6 to transfer it to the rails 43. After having blocked the wagon on these rails, the ramps 41 are dismantled and the operations already described are repeated to put the vehicle back into working condition, ready to take another wagpn.
The maneuvers described above can be simplified by using the removable fixing device for the rear wheels, according to the variant shown in Figures 7 to 11. In the running position, the rear wheel jacks are connected to the frame (fig. 9). . To obtain the correct position for loading and unloading the wagon, the rear end of the chassis is raised using jacks 32 (fig. 13), in order to move the wheels away from the ground, the handwheels are unscrewed. 108 in order to release the crosspiece 106 from the respective bearing surfaces and to lower the carrier
<EMI ID = 13.1>
After this operation, the arm 110 can be moved outwards, any subsequent lowering of the wheels being prevented by the support of the balance 114 on its guides 115 and 116, which opposes the pivoting, in this direction, of
