The present invention relates to a device on a vehicle allowing the handling of a removable skip or container with gripping of said skip by its front end. This device makes it possible in particular to load the bucket onto the vehicle, to unload it from the vehicle and to tilt it for the purpose of emptying it.
Devices of this type are known, in which the loading and unloading of the bucket are carried out using a cable winch driven by a hydraulic motor or using one or two hydraulic cylinders, acting on a wire rope hoist. The removal of the bucket is done in either case by gravity. The tipping operation of the bucket is provided by a frame articulated on the rear end of the vehicle and controlled by one or more hydraulic cylinders.
The main drawback of these devices is that they require manual intervention for hooking up and unhooking the cables and, moreover, they do not allow the skips to be placed, without special arrangement, on a high quay or on a trailer.
Devices are also known for handling skips on vehicles, in which the hauling of the skip is not carried out by a cable winch, but by jacks acting on a jib crane. The movement of the bucket on the vehicle is no longer done in this case by gravity but by the driving force of the jacks. The system is therefore reversible and allows the boxes to be placed on a raised quay or on a trailer, without any special arrangement.
A known embodiment of this type comprises a square part describing an arc of a circle, and carrying, at its free end, a means of gripping the bucket.
To limit the effort to be provided, in particular to hoist the bucket onto the vehicle, this angled part can slide inside a slide with the aid of a jack. Furthermore, two other jacks are provided to pivot these slides on the frame.
This device, relatively heavy and expensive due to the fact that it requires three hydraulic jacks, moreover has a certain fragility. Indeed, the angled, sliding part, already fragile in its construction, is subjected to a dangerous torsion when the bucket is loaded or unloaded on uneven ground, because the bucket, being taken only at one point, tends to tilt sideways.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by making it possible to produce a device giving the same results, while being less expensive and more robust and while having a lower dead weight.
The device, object of the invention, comprises an arrow terminated by a gripping member, this arrow being mounted on the end of an arm, itself mounted rotatably, at its other end, on an axis transverse to the frame of the vehicle, this transverse axis being carried by a support frame for the arm and the jib, and at least one operating cylinder being articulated between the frame of the device, integral with the vehicle, and the arm.
According to the invention, this device is characterized in that the boom is freely articulated on the arm, without any other additional permanent connection with the latter, at least one stop, limiting its rotation with respect to the arm, being arranged on this same arm at the proximity of the articulation with the arrow, in that the arrow comprises, at its end opposite to that carrying the gripping member and beyond the articulation connecting it to the arm, at least one lug able to cooperate with at least two stops located on a longitudinal line to the vehicle and placed towards the front end of the device, in that the device comprises means for allowing longitudinal displacement of the transverse axis on which the arm is rotatably mounted,
and in that the actuator for maneuvering the arm in rotation is used to obtain this same longitudinal displacement of the aforesaid transverse axis, said displacement simultaneously causing, by cooperation of the arrow with the stops, the rotation of this same arrow with respect to the arms.
An important feature of the invention is that the means used to maneuver the arm in rotation are the same as those used to move longitudinally the transverse terminal axis on which the arm is articulated, so that this displacement results in a corresponding rotation of the boom. when at least one lug of the latter cooperates with at least one of the stops integral with the frame.
The gripping jib can thus perform substantially a succession of two rotations, which allows the loading or unloading of the bucket.
The present invention allows the use of a single jack to perform all the handling operations of the bucket, which constitutes an essential advantage over known embodiments.
According to a preferred embodiment, the arm comprises two side-by-side side members, on which the jib is articulated at two points and a jack for operating the arm is mounted between the side members of the latter. This jack is articulated on a frame integral with the frame of the vehicle and on the other hand around a cross member joining the side members of the arm.
According to this same embodiment, the jib comprises at each of its ends, beyond its two articulations on the side members of the arm and on the side opposite to that comprising the gripping member, a lug integral with the jib and capable of s 'Engage between two stops placed inside each of two side members of the arm support frame, this frame being carried by the frame integral with the vehicle frame.
The pins integral with the boom cause the latter to rotate towards the rear of the vehicle by resting on their associated stops when the actuator is operated in extension to unload the bucket. These same lugs cause the boom to rotate towards the front of the vehicle by resting on their associated stops, when the jack is retracted to load the bucket.
The appended drawings given by way of nonlimiting examples, as well as the detailed description, will better demonstrate the advantages of the invention.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. I to 16, the handling device according to the invention is mounted on a road vehicle consisting of a truck 1. It is intended to unload and load a tipper 60 on the truck 1 as well as to tip it onto the truck by view of its emptying.
As shown in Figs. I and 2, the device comprises an arrow 3 carrying at its free end the gripping member, articulated in accordance with the invention, on a rotary arm 5 arranged on a frame 10.
The latter comprises two longitudinal members 10a mounted to pivot about an axis 80 embedded transversely at the rear end of the frame 81 itself integral with the frame 2 of the truck 1. It is through this frame that the device is carried by the truck.
The arm 5 comprises two longitudinal members Sa connected by a cross member 18 and by a transverse axis 7 around which the boom pivots 3. The longitudinal members Sa are articulated on the transverse terminal axis 82 carried by the frame 10. In addition, the longitudinal members Sa are slightly bent, in a vertical plane, towards their ends so that, when the boom 3 is maneuvered, the arm does not interfere with the movements of the bucket.
A hydraulic cylinder supplied by a hydraulic unit fitted to the truck is mounted between the longitudinal members Sa of the arm S and is articulated on the one hand on the frame 81 around an axis 56 carried by yokes 55 integral with the frame 81, and of elsewhere around the cross member 18 joining the longitudinal members Sa; The action of the rod 11 of the jack 9 therefore makes it possible to rotate the arm S in a substantially vertical plane, driving the arrow 3 with it.
According to an important feature of the invention, as shown in FIG. 3, the transverse terminal axis 82 on which are articulated the two longitudinal members Sa of the arm carries at its ends two pads 30 which can slide, each in a slide 41 arranged in each of the side members 10a of the frame 10. The slides 41 allow the 'transverse terminal axis 82 of the arm to perform the translation triggering the rotation of the boom 3.
Referring to fig. 4, it can be seen that the arrow 3 is composed at one end of two substantially rectilinear beams 3a which are placed side by side, each of these beams forming a lug 91, and at the other end of a hook 4 integral with the two preceding beams that come together.
Each of these two symmetrical beams 3a are articulated on a shaft 7 (shown in the figure by a dotted line) at a point situated between the lug 91 and the hook 4 and in the immediate vicinity of the lug.
To facilitate the cooperation of these lugs with the stops carried by the front ends of the side members 10a of the frame, they can include casters 92 at their end.
Each lug can engage in the housing 100 arranged in the side members 10a (fig. S). In front of and behind this housing are arranged two stops offset longitudinally 93 and 94.
The stop 93 placed in front of the stop 94 has, directed towards the front of the truck, a slightly inclined face 95 and, directed towards the rear, a vertical face 96: the stop 94 offset towards the rear only comprises a vertical useful face 99 which is directed forward.
The two vertical faces 96 and 99 delimit the housing 100.
A horizontal face 90 connecting these two stops constitutes the floor of the housing. A certain clearance is provided between the two stops to allow the passage of the lug 91 with its wheel 92. The floor 90 serves as a support for the wheels 92.
According to an important feature of the invention, the longitudinal members Sa of the arm S, as seen in FIG. 4, each carry a stop 17 in the vicinity of the point of articulation of the spar 3a of the boom on the corresponding spar of the arm. It is on these two stops that the spacer 19 rests connecting the two longitudinal members 3a of the boom in the vicinity of the articulation shaft 7.
In the example described, the angle at which the jib 3 can thus freely rotate relative to the side members 6a of the arm is approximately 35 '.
Referring now to Figs. 6 and 7, the means provided by the invention for immobilizing the transverse end axis 82 on which the arm is rotatably mounted will be described.
On the transverse terminal shaft 82 is articulated an axial locking beam 24, the end of which may or may not cooperate with a stop 63 forming a spacer of the frame 10. More precisely with the cam 64 which can be operated using a crank 66, the locking beam 24, linked to the transverse end axis 82, can be lifted as seen in fig. 7 and thus allow a retraction of the transverse terminal shaft, by sliding over the stop.
According to another feature, the invention provides means for locking the arm 6 in rotation on the frame 10, when the bucket 60 is loaded on the truck.
In the embodiment described, these means comprise lateral tenons 23, mounted on the longitudinal members Sa of the rotary arm 5 and notches 31 formed in the longitudinal members 10a of the frame 10 and which are arranged to receive the tenons 23 when the transverse terminal shaft 82 is in the forward position (fig. 10).
To facilitate the loading and unloading of the bucket 60, rolling guide rollers 54 are also provided.
The bucket is equipped with side members 51 which, during handling, will roll on these guide rollers. On the other hand. these same side members will be supported on the wings 81a of the frame 80 when the body 60 is loaded definitively on the truck. The bucket 60 is also provided with a lifting ring 48 attached to the front of the bucket. Two end rollers 52 facilitate the movement of the bucket on the ground during maneuvers (fig. 8).
The successive operations which can be carried out by means of the handling device according to the invention will now be described. Unloading the body 60, loading and tipping to allow it to be emptied.
We will first proceed to the description of the unloading operation.
Referring to fig. 2 which shows the bucket 60 loaded on the vehicle in position A1, it can be seen that the hook 4 of the boom 3 is engaged in the attachment 48 and thus retains the bucket 60 longitudinally.
This rests on the wings 81a of the frame 81 and on the rollers 54 via its side members 51.
The rollers 92 of the lugs are engaged in the housing 100 between the two stops 93 and 94 and rest on the horizontal face 90 which is also integral with the front end of the frame 10. The latter rests on a spacer of the frame 81, not shown, so as not to overload the figure. As for the two side members of the arm, they rest on the front transverse beam of the frame 81.
The rod of the jack 9 is completely retracted and the tenons 23 of the arm 5 are engaged inside the notches 31. The transverse terminal shaft 82 of the arm is in abutment in position A by means of the pads 39 against the ends 41 a front of the slides 41 (fig. 3) and, as shown in fig. 11, the end of the locking beam 24 resting on the arm 65b of the notch 65 has a clearance J with the top 65h of the notch. This game will make it possible, as will be seen later, to lift the locking beam 24.
Reference will again be made to FIG. 2 for the actual description of the unloading maneuver.
To make the retraction of the transverse terminal axis 82 possible, the cam 64 which lifts the locking beam 24 is first rotated. The hydraulic cylinder 9 is then actuated, the rod of which moves through the arm. the transverse terminal axis 82 along the slides 41 (fig. 3). Correspondingly, the connecting rod 24 slides on the cam 64 while passing over the top 65h of the notch 65 (FIG. 7).
The rollers 92 of the lugs 91 bearing on the horizontal face 90 come into abutment on the vertical face 99, causing the arrow 3 to perform a rearward rotational movement, driving the bucket 60 (FIG. 2) which moves backwards. position B1 by rolling, via its side members 51, on the guide rollers 54. The movement of the boom 3 has its center of rotation located on the axis xx 'joining the centers of rotation of the two rollers 92 (fig. 4 ). As for the arm, it has simultaneously described an upward rotational movement around the transverse terminal axis 82 and a translational movement towards the rear of the truck, along the slide 41.
It is very important to note that it is thanks to the lugs 91 bearing on the frame 10 that the boom, while pivoting, lifts and can thus describe a circular trajectory with respect to the truck, the starting point of which x and the end point ss are on the same horizontal line. This is an absolutely necessary condition for proper operation since the attachment 48 of the dump body, in its movement towards the rear on the truck, cannot in any case descend below a horizontal line passing through the starting point. at. This would be the case if the boom was not equipped with lugs which make it rise at the same time as they rotate it.
During this movement, the lateral tenons 23 come out of the notches 31 (fig. 2), thus unlocking the side members 5a of the arm 5 with respect to the frame 10.
At the end of this first step, the arrow has rotated about 35- relative to the arm and is, through the spacer 19, in contact with the stops 17 of the arm 5 (fig. 4). Furthermore, the transverse terminal shaft 82 is in abutment in position B (FIG. 2), via the pads 39, against the ends 41b of the slides 41 (FIG. 3) and the rollers 92 of the pins 91 are in contact. abutment on the faces 99. It is important to underline, as seen in fig. 2, that at the end of this step, the bucket 60 has passed from position Al to position Bl, moving back by a length L much greater than that 1, of which the transverse terminal shaft 82 has moved back from A to B and correspondingly that from which the cylinder rod came out. In the embodiment described, L represents a length approximately seven times greater than 1.
It should also be noted that the force to be provided by the jack 9, namely that necessary for the substantially horizontal translation of the bucket, which is small, multiplied by the number representing the ratio of the lever arms, remains relatively low compared to the maximum effort required, in particular, to hoist the body onto the truck.
The jack 9, continuing to be actuated, lifts the arm S which rotates around the transverse terminal axis 82, the latter remaining blocked in position B in FIG. 2, thanks to the fact that the pads carrying the axis 82 are in abutment at the rear ends of the slides 51. Simultaneously, the rollers 92 of the lugs 91 roll on the substantially vertical surface 99 of the rear stop 94, and the arm 6 performs a rotation symbolized by the arrow F, by driving the arrow 3 which remains blocked in its angular position relative to the arm 5, thanks to the stops 17. This rotation of the arm 5 and of the arrow 3 drives the bucket 60 which tilts while rolling on the rollers -guides 54.
When the arm 5 reaches a substantially vertical position, the arrow 3 retaining its position relative to it, the stress exerted on the transverse terminal shaft 82 changes direction. This shaft therefore performs a reverse displacement of the previous one, along the slides 41, until these pads 39 come into abutment at A against the front ends 41a of the slides. The transverse shaft 82 is then immobilized again, while the arm 5 continues to rotate around it: the contact with the ground by the bucket is made by means of the rollers 52 (FIG. 8); the movement continues until the bucket is completely resting on the ground. It is then sufficient to lower the arm still slightly to release the hook from the grab ring of the bucket.
To return the device to its initial position, it is then sufficient to move the truck forward to prevent the hook 4 from engaging again in the attachment 48. The jack 9 is then actuated in the opposite direction to bring back the arm 5 and arrow 3 to their starting position.
The various maneuvers carried out to bring the arm 5 and the jib 3 back to their initial position are identical to those carried out during an operation of loading a bucket 60, an operation which will now be described.
The device is then in the final position of the unloading operation and in particular the transverse end axis 82 is in position A (FIG. 2).
The bucket to be loaded resting on the ground, the vehicle is moved back to bring the arm 5 and the boom 3 into a position such that by actuating the jack 9 so as to retract its rod 11, the hook 4 by rising s' engages in clip 48.
The rotation of the arm 5 continuing in the direction which raises the hook 4, the bucket 60, raised, advances on its support rollers 52 and comes into position A2 of FIG. 2, the rotation continuing, the transverse terminal axis 82 remains in abutment at A: after a rotation of approximately 120'-, the arm S occupies the position A3 of FIG. 5 while the hook 4 retains the bucket 60 partially loaded and which has rolled on the guide rollers 54.
During this rotation, the arrow 3 has remained blocked in rotation with respect to the arm 5 thanks to the stops 17. At the end of rotation, the rollers 92 of the lugs 91 rest on the faces 95 of the front stops 93. It is then actuated again. the cylinder 9 to bring out the rod 1 1 in order to bring the transverse terminal axis 82 into its extreme position B (Fig. 9). The arm 5 supporting the load then moves in a substantially horizontal translation, until simultaneously the rollers 92 come into contact with the vertical face 99 of the stops 94 and the transverse terminal axis 82 comes into abutment at B through the 'intermediary of its runners on the rear ends 41b of the slides.
The jack 9 (fig. 10) is retracted again, which, taking into account the inclination of the jack and the weight supported, drives the arm 5 successively in a downward rotational movement and in a translational movement towards the end. 'forward while the rollers 92 come into contact with the vertical faces 96 of the front stops 93, thus causing the rotation around the axis 7 of the boom 3 which, itself, drives the bucket 60 of a length L (fig . 2), therefore much greater than the length I from which the jack retracts.
The bucket 60 is definitely in place when the jack is fully retracted. The rollers 92 are then in contact with both the vertical faces 96 and the horizontal faces 90 of the housings 100 of the lugs (FIG. II).
The switching operation will now be described.
The device according to the invention being initially in the position AI shown in FIG. 2, the casters 92 and the locking beam 24 are placed as shown in fig. He.
The jack 9 is then triggered, the play J is then absorbed and the end of the locking beam 24 abuts in the notch 65. The terminal axis 82 can no longer move back, the jack 9 lifts the arm 5 by pivoting around the axis 56 (fig. 12). The frame 10 being secured to the side members 5a of the arm 5 by virtue of the tenons 23 engaged in the notches 31 is driven by the arm by pivoting about the axis 80 (FIG. 12). The bucket is driven in this movement by the hook 4 and it rocks around the axis 80, resting on the guide rollers 54.
It is important to note that the boom 3 is itself locked in rotation by its lugs 91 and the rollers 92 in gées in the housings 100 of the frame 10.
The jack 9 is stopped as soon as the inclination of the frame 10 and of the bucket 60 is sufficient for emptying the latter.
The device according to the invention makes it possible to carry out all the handling operations of the removable bucket by means of a single jack, which constitutes an essential advantage over known embodiments.
In the version shown in fig. 13, the boom, in its part between the gripping member and the articulation, is bent, so that the bucket being in place on the truck, a portion of the boom 3a comprising the hook is in a vertical position and the other portion 3b in a horizontal position under the bucket. This feature allows, for the same displacement of the transverse terminal axis, a greater displacement of the end of the boom.
In the version shown in fig. 14, the tilting frame 10, supporting the arm and the boom, has been shortened by approximately half to reduce the dead weight of the device.
The stops, placed at the front of the device, therefore no longer belong to this frame 10 but, according to the invention, become integral with the frame 81, forming the frame of the device, which frame is itself linked to the frame 2 of the truck.
This shortening also causes the locking notches 31 on the frame 10 to retreat as well as the tenons 23 on the arm.
However, nothing has changed as regards the operation of the device for loading or unloading the skip, since everything takes place during these two operations, as if the stops were integral with the frame 81, the frame 10 remaining fixed with respect to the same. frame 81.
It is only for the tipping operation of the bucket that we see the need for a rearward locking of this same bucket, because, during this tilting, the lug, integral with the boom, n 'is no longer as before locked in housing 100 and therefore the boom is rotated rearwardly by the weight of the bucket.
Therefore, as shown in Figs. 14, 15 and 16, there is provided, integral with the outer bottom of the bucket, at least one fixed leg 102, and on the frame 10, supporting the arm and the boom, at least one hinged leg 101 on an axis 103: a small actuator 104 allows the movable leg 101 to be brought into abutment on the fixed leg 102 placed on the bucket, so that the latter, during tilting, is retained.
Note that the bucket is always held laterally thanks to the boom whose end is engaged in the hooking ring of the bucket.
Conversely, the small cylinder 104 allows the movable tab 101 to be retracted, which comes into position lOla (Fig. 15). This erasure of the tab 101 has the effect of allowing the back of the bucket when it is desired to place the latter on the ground.
We said above that the shortening of the frame 10 led to the retraction of the locking notches 31 as well as that of the tenons 23 on the arm; However, this recoil has the consequence of bringing the assembly, notch and tenon, closer to the transverse shaft around which the arm pivots. This approximation makes it necessary to retract the tenon 23 when it comes into contact with the top of the notch 31, so that the arm 5 can be lowered sufficiently to allow the lug to cooperate with the stops.
This retraction of the tenon 23 is carried out in a simple manner by mounting, in the housing of the arm inside which the tenon can slide, a return spring 105.
In the version shown in the left part of fig. 14, the device comprises two identical maneuvering jacks 9, placed on each side of an arm 5 consisting of a single spar, the end of which, on the boom side, is recessed in the shape of an inverted U, so as to form a housing for receive the central lug 91 of this same arrow when the assembly occupies the rest position described in FIG. 15. FIG. 14 shows that the central lug 91 of the arrow can cooperate with a set of two stops 93 and 94 arranged on the longitudinal axis of the device and carried by a spacer 106 of the frame 81.
