<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
En ce qui concerne le dispositif à prépaiement, il peut com- porter essentiellement : un ergot prévu sur l'axe principal ci-avant; un axe- auxiliaire parallèle au précédent et portant également un ergot arrêtant nor- malement la pièce de monnaie ou autre jeton prévu, lors de la descente de celui-ci le long de la coulisse prévue à cet effet ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

LIQUID DISPENSER DEVICE.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for dispensing liquid.
Said apparatus can in particular be applied to the distribution of lighter fluid.
According to the invention, such an apparatus essentially comprises: a liquid reservoir, means for discharging a determined quantity of liquid from said reservoir, towards a dispensing valve; a control device for these delivery means; and, preferably, a prepayment device allowing the operation of said control device.
In one embodiment, the means for discharging a determined quantity of liquid out of the reservoir consist of a cylinder immersed in the liquid and of a piston moving in said cylinder to discharge a quantity of liquid, proportional to the length of its stroke, towards the aforesaid distribution valve, the admission of the liquid into said cylinder being effected by a valve, possibly a simple orifice, provided at a suitable location on the side wall of said cylinder, the movement of the piston being controlled by appropriate device.
As regards said device for moving the piston, it may be constituted by a set of levers whose different movements are obtained by means of a control arm, a return means, for example a spring, being provided to bring back the various levers. in the original position after dispensing a quantity of liquid.
In a particularly interesting embodiment of the apparatus, a prepayment device is interposed between the set of levers and the control arm.
The control arm can be mounted, for example, on a main axis carrying an element, directed downwards and causing the movement of a rod, for example by means of a stop provided thereon, in a direction substantially transverse to the main axis above, said trin-

gle acting on one arm of an inter-bearing lever, the other arm of which acts, via a rod, on the piston, elastic means, such as a spring, being provided as a return for the inter-bearing lever. -before and therefore as a reminder also for the piston and the control arm.
According to one embodiment, the arm of the inter-bearing lever, intended to cause the movement of the piston, actuates a rod mounted to slide in appropriate supports, an element connecting said rod to the piston to cause the movement of the latter in the same. sense that the aforesaid sliding rod, said element being of adjustable position on the rod to allow adjustment of the volume of the liquid delivered at each stroke of said piston.
As regards the prepayment device, it can essentially comprise: a lug provided on the main axis above; an auxiliary axis parallel to the preceding one and also carrying a lug normally stopping the coin or other token provided, during the descent of the latter along the slide provided for this purpose;
and a bracket fixed to the auxiliary axis and normally retaining a part wedged on the rod controlling the tilting of the inter-support lever, a rotation of the main axis acting, by means of the lug provided on the latter, on the coin or other token, which, in turn, pushes on the lug of the auxiliary axle to rotate the latter, thus lifting the caliper to release the coin wedged on the rod controlling the lever inter-support, the rotation of the main axis then causing, as indicated above, the displacement of the latter rod while the coin or the like. token falls into a suitable receptacle.
In an advantageous embodiment, the part wedged on the control rod for the tilting of the inter-support lever is a vertical plate the top of which is curved, so that, during the operation of the general return device and therefore the return of said part in its starting position, the stirrup falling by its own weight resumes its wedging position by sliding along the curved part of said part in the form of aforesaid vertical plate.
Finally, a shutter means may be provided on the distribution valve, said shutter means releasing the air valve, preferably a little before the start of the delivery stroke of the piston in its cylinder.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below, by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows a side view, partially in section, of the apparatus.
Figure 2 is a front view, also partially in section, of the same apparatus.
The device comprises a housing 1, on the outside of which only the dispensing valve 2 and the control arm 3 appear.
Internally, on a base 4, there is provided a structure forming a frame 5 made of angles.
Above this frame 5 is placed the liquid reservoir 6, for example containing gasoline, when it is a dispenser for filling lighters.
In this reservoir 6 is embedded a cylinder 7 in which a piston 8 can move. The bottom of the cylinder has a duct 9 leading to a distribution valve 2 which is fitted internally with two valves 10, ball and spring.
The cylinder 7 has an orifice 11 allowing the entry of the liquid. It will be understood that a displacement of the piston 8 towards the bottom of the cylinder
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
dre 7 will force the liquid in it to enter the tap
9 and to release the balls from their seat, against the action of the springs to finally exit through the conduit 12.
The piston 8 is integral, via an element--
13, of a rod 14 slidably mounted in supports 15 and 16. The displacement of this rod 14 therefore brings about a corresponding displacement of the piston 8. It will easily be understood that Insulation 13 with the piston 8 * can be of adjustable position on the rod 14 to vary the length of the stroke of the piston 8, and therefore the amount of liquid delivered with each stroke.
At its outer end, the rod 14 is pivotally mounted at the end of an inter-bearing lever 15, pivoting at 16 and provided, at its other end, with a return spring 17.
In order to rotate the inter-bearing lever 15 around point 16, a rod 18 is provided which slides in suitable supports 19 and 20.
Considering Figure 1, it can be seen that a movement to the left of the rod 18 causes the tilting of the lever 15 around the point 16 and, consequently, the movement to the right of the rod 14 and the piston 8. in its cylinder 7.
To allow control of the movement of the rod 18, the latter carries a stop 21 on which acts an element 22 fixed to the main axis 23, at the end of which (FIG. 2) is fixed the control arm 3. The tilting thereof will therefore allow the element 22 to push on the stop 21, integral with the rod 18. The latter carries yet another stop 24, limiting the stroke of said rod.
On the main axis 23, a cam 25 is mounted which, during the rotation of said axis 23, raises a pivoting lever 26 at 27 integrally with a means 28 for closing the outlet of the valve 2. In FIG. 1, two different positions of the shutter device 28 'and of its control means are shown: levers and cam, namely the closed position of the valve, in solid lines, and the open position, in phantom lines. It goes without saying that this closure means 28 is in fact only a safety or additional closure, since the actual closure is given by the ball valves 10.
The cam 25 is obviously wedged on the main axis 23, so that it acts on the lever 26, a little before the element 22 acts on the stop 21; in other words, the obtuse means - rator 28 will move away a little before piston 8 begins to move in cylinder 7.
It is also possible to provide for the intervention of a prepayment device. For this purpose, on the rod 18 is disposed a vertical part 29 normally retained by a bracket 30, fixed on an auxiliary pin 31.
This has a lug 32 oriented downwards, while another lug 33 is provided substantially horizontally on the main axis 23. A neck = smooth 34 is provided in the device for the introduction of a piece of coin 35. When this is inserted, it abuts against the lug 32. At this moment, if one acts on the control arm 3 in the direction of the arrow (figure 1), the lug 33 pushes the coin 35 against the lug 32. The auxiliary shaft 31 rotates and the caliper 30 rises to release the coin 29 and allow the movement of the rod 18 and, therefore, the operation of the piston 8, the element 22 of the main axis 23 acting on its stop 21 only after the lifting of the bracket 30.
The coin continues its descent in the slide 34 to fall into a suitable receptacle.
When the quantity of liquid has been discharged and the control arm 3 is released, the return spring 17 returns the interpressed lever 15 to its starting position, and consequently also the rod 18 and the vertical part 29 which will be of curved shape, for example in a quarter-circle, at its upper part to allow the stirrup 30 to easily resume its substantially horizontal position in FIG. 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
It will be understood, on the other hand, that, if a coin 35 is not introduced into the slide 34, a tilting of the control arm 3 will not allow the release of the coin 29 from its bracket 30, and so say - positive therefore remains blocked.
Any support 36 may be provided for the support of the object, for example a lighter, to be filled.
The adjustment of the quantity of liquid delivered by the piston 8, at each stroke of the latter, can be obtained by moving the element 13 on the rod 14, as well as by changing the position of the stop 24. on the rod 18.
It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but that many modifications could be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
