PROCEDE'DE FABRICATION DE SEMELLES EN CAOUTCHOUC MOUSSE ET SEMELLES OBTENUES
PAR CE PROCEDE.
INTRODUCTION.

DESCRIPTION.

PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING FOAM RUBBER SOLES AND OBTAINED SOLES
BY THIS PROCESS.
INTRODUCTION.
It is currently known to manufacture the soles of shoes such as slippers, mules or the like from foam rubber; these soles are usually provided, at the part in contact with the ground, with a layer of smooth rubber, commonly called peeling, this thin layer of rubber ensures more or less the impermeability of said sole.
The soles produced according to the old process however have the following drawbacks
16) they do not prevent the entry of water into the mass of foam rubber which composes it, this water entering the hollow parts of the foam sole by suction during walking.
@ 2) the heel and the sole are at the same level which prevents the arch of the foot and causes, after a certain time, the sagging of the sole of the foot. .
3) due to the thickness of the sole, the cost price of the latter is often quite high
4) when the sole is made entirely of foam rubber, walking causes it to crumble.
According to the present invention, it is recommended to achieve a foam rubber sole, the lower part or sole and the entire circumference of which are provided with a smooth rubber conch or skin which ensures the impermeability of said sole. by suppressing the sucking action when walking.
In addition, according to the invention, provision is made, without increasing the thickness of the sole, to provide the latter with a heel raised with respect to the planet of the foot, and this by the judicious placement. in the mold of a shape `` metal, having the shape of the foot and which will spare, after vulcanization, a

depression of the sole of the foot in the form of a bowl, in the thickness of the sole; therefore the heel will be raised, that is to say, will be flush with the thickness of the sole while the sole of the foot will be at a lower level in the interior of the sole.
As a result of this process, the sole will be lighter and allow savings in rubber.
In the case of manufacturing completely waterproof shoes, provision is made, according to the invention, by vulcanization to attach the peel of the sole to the upper of said shoe.
The drawings are given by way of example and are not limitative of other embodiments being always possible using the spirit of the claims.
FIG. I is a longitudinal section taken through a sole obtained according to the method of the invention.
Figure 2 is a section along the line A A of Figure I.
Figure 3 is a section taken along line B B of Figure I.
DESCRIPTION.
According to the present invention, the sole is made from a thin surface of ordinary rubber (I) and called peel in terms of the trade, on this layer of peel (I) is applied, by hot vulcanization, one or more strips of foam rubber (2) provided with an inflator and an accelerated vulcanizer. The thickness of this foam rubber is much greater than that of the peel. This skin is provided around the entire periphery (Ia) of the sole.
In order to make a cup (3) inside the foam rubber, a metal form (4) in the form of a foot is placed in the vulcanization mold lined with the various rubber and felt bands (5). This foot-shaped mold is fixed in such a way that the heel (4a) remains substantially at the level of the thickness of the sole while the sole of the foot plunges into the front of the sole to achieve, after vulcanization, the bowl (3) lined entirely with foam rubber.
The insertion of the sole of the foot of the mold produced according to the invention is made necessary in order to obtain the arch of the foot which the existing soles have hitherto lacked. In addition, the placement of the peel over the entire outer periphery of the sole provides the latter with the desired seal.
The felt layer provided on the inside of the sole acts as an insulation between the human foot and the foam rubber trapped in the skin.
Other embodiments of a sole being always possible, these are also covered by the present application provided that they use the spirit of the following claims.
