<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

CONSTRUCTION PANELS AND CONSTRUCTION MADE WITH THESE PANELS.
The present invention relates to a building panel, more especially intended for use as a supporting and insulating panel in prefabricated constructions.
According to the invention, such a panel comprises: a wooden frame; a core of insulating material, more especially of agglomerated wood fibers; at least one resistant coating; and preferably a lateral interlocking device, allowing rapid assembly without visible joints.
In one embodiment, the frame is made of solid wood and is preferably not visible.
According to yet another embodiment, the resistant coating is constituted by a plywood provided with an impregnated and bakelized veneer or by any other suitable material, such as "eternit".
As regards the interlocking device for the panels, it consists, according to one embodiment, of at least one tongue, on the field of the panel, corresponding to at least one groove in the field of a neighboring panel.
The present invention also relates to constructions, in particular prefabricated constructions, produced using the above panels.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a panel according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows the interlocking of the solid wood frame.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Figures 3 and 4 show in elevation panels or panel parts with interlocking devices.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate identical or similar elements.
Each panel is made up of a solid wood frame 1 (figure 1) with assembly, at the corners, according to the system shown in figure 2. This frame will remain hidden when the finished panel is used. The panel also comprises a core 2 of insulating material, for example agglomerated wood fibers. Finally, a resistant coating 3 is provided, consisting either of a plywood provided with an impregnated and bakelized veneer, or of any other material, for example, of "eternity". This covering 3 therefore completely covers the solid wood frame 1 and the core of insulating material 2.
In order to constitute a load-bearing element for the application to prefabricated buildings, both as a wall element and as a roof element, thus rendering a framework unnecessary, the frame can optionally be reinforced in any suitable manner.
For the interlocking of the panels one into the other, a device can be provided as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. The panels have a certain number of tongues 4 intended to fit into corresponding grooves. 5 neighboring panels. The arrangement of the tongues 4 and the grooves 5 can be standardized so that any panel. can be nested in any other panel. The embodiment of said tongues and grooves can be arbitrary.
One can, for example, provide, as shown in Figure 3, complete grooves 5 in the fields of the panels and then insert tongues 4 at the appropriate places, said tongues and grooves can be provided on all fields of the panels or on a part of them.
Assembly can therefore be carried out quickly and will therefore not leave any visible joint. However, depending on the case, the interlocking device may be made up or completed by a joint cover made of wood or other material, visible and fixed to the two adjacent panels by simple clamping or gluing or by any means of fixing. fixation.
The resistance of such a panel allows its use as a load-bearing panel, which in a construction avoids the provision of uprights on which the roof rests.
The interior of the chipboard panel made with the intervention of a synthetic binder allows, with a small thickness, a significant thermal and acoustic insulation, which can also be variable according to the degree of density and compression of the fibers. . In a practical case, the coefficient of thermal conductivity was 0.045 - 0.050 (large calorie per meter of thickness and square meter of surface per hour and per C.).
The exterior protection of the panel made by plywood and one or more bakelized veneers gives the panel the appearance of a completely new material.
The panel is plain, with a fairly glossy polish and retains the decorative effect of wood. As it is, the panel no longer requires any finishing work (no painting or varnish). It is inherently flame retardant, thanks to the internal bond of synthetic resins. The bakelized surface is characterized by great hardness and therefore resists scratches and impacts. Likewise, this surface is not attacked by saline water or by most of the known acids.
The seamless connection gives the juxtaposed panels an absolutely flat surface, and thus constitutes an extremely solid exterior wall.

It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above but that many modifications could be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
