<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

This machine comprises a shelf I formed by a counter open at the rear to allow housing of the control members.
The shelf I is used to fix two vertical uprights and .1 connected by the spacer and by the piston support 5.
This support has, for example, a U-shaped section, and it is drilled vertically at regular intervals to receive the vertical cylinders held by bolts or other means. In the bore 61 of the cylinders, the upper piston 7 slides which has a groove 1 with a seal .8 and which at its base constitutes a large diameter piston 72 whose bottom is hollowed out at 73 substantially in the form of a spherical cap. Each of the pistons 1 is returned to the high position by coil springs .2 and 10 hooked on the one hand inside the cylinder and, on the other hand, on the piston support 5.
The pistons 1 thus mounted, appear vertically above the removable tanks II placed on the spacer and centered on the latter by their bottom, a boss or discharge II of which penetrates into one of the corresponding recesses 41 drilled in the spacer 4.
Each of the tanks II, the internal diameter of which corresponds to the diameter of the cylinders 72, internally has a conical bottom II2 on which a metal cup 19 is supported and centered.
For this purpose, the cups.12 form, at their upper part, a spherical cap whose circular base 191 is of smaller diameter than the bore of the tanks II. The rim 191 is connected with prominent nozzles 192 formed by the ends of the cross-shaped ribs 193 disposed below said cap. The ribs 193 are sloped symmetrically in 194 to bear, by centering the cups 19, on the conical bottom of the tanks II. A flat part 195 at the lower part of the cups, clears the opening II of the tanks II.
With this arrangement, after the placement of the cup 19, the spherical cap is slightly raised relative to the conical bottom II2 of the tank, so as to leave gaps 196 for the flow of the fruit juice, which can pass. between the ribs 19 and then in the opening II.
Each cup 19 in one piece constitutes an easily removable and washable filter after pressing. The precise centering of the cups 19 in the covers II is automatic by the effect of the prominent nozzles 192.
Below each tank II is placed a second removable conical filter 12 in the form of a funnel, which is fixed on the spacer 4. These filters end in a chute 12Ú to pour the fruit juice into the glass placed on the top. below, on tablet I.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The spacer 1 and the piston support are covered by a removable cover 22.
EMI3.1
Under the shelf l inside the counter is an oil tank II with hose 1Z. connected to a compression pump 15. The latter is controlled by the pedal 16 which is articulated at one end in a chain 16 secured to the counter. It is thus possible to discharge the oil into the drain pipe 17 which rises inside the counter and crosses the upright 3.
At the upper end, the pipe 17 is bent at a right angle to pre-
EMI3.2
feel horizontally. Fittings 1 connect the pipe 17 to the cylinders. According to this arrangement, by actuating the pedal j¯6, the pump 12 delivers the oil into the discharge pipe 17 to send it under pressure
EMI3.3
in the cylinders. The pressurized oil acts on the pistons 7 which are pushed back from top to bottom and which slide in through their lower pistons.
EMI3.4
riers z2 in the vats 111 The fruits gl which are placed without any preparation in the vats n and which rest on the cups 12, are thus completely pressed by the pistons 7.
The pistons 1 are raised automatically by the return action of the coil springs .3 and 10 as well as by the effect of a valve 20 which conveys the oil through the pipe 21 into the tank 13 .
EMI3.5
The bzz cylinders have their peripheral partition 14 which is high enough and disposed opposite a groove, to prevent the possible flow of oil on the fruit during the engagement of the pistons in the tanks II.
It is also planned to control the movement of the pistons by compressed air, or by any other suitable known means.
The machine can be made with all external shapes and in all dimensions, without departing from the scope of the invention.
It emerges from the description that the machine makes it possible to rapidly obtain the maximum amount of juice which it is possible to express from a fruit. On the other hand, the rapid disassembly of the various components facilitates maintenance. The operation is safe.
According to a second embodiment, the hydraulic control of the pressing pistons is obtained by means of pumps which constitute an assembly also housed in the counter forming the tablet .1 of the machine. This assembly comprises a tank 24 of parallelepiped shape which is divided internally by a vertical partition 25. In each of the
EMI3.6
compartments 2l1 and g ± 2 of the reservoir gà which is filled with oil, an independent unit is fitted including the suction and delivery pump serving to send the oil under pressure which causes the descent of the pressing pistons, and a return valve which allows the pistons to rise after pressing the fruit.
EMI3.7
In each of the compartments 2A 1 and 2A 9 is mounted a pump body 27 pierced vertically to receive the end of a cylinder ¯2 8 fixed by a cap nut 22 pressed under the tank 2. The cylinder 28 in which the slide a piston 26 is pierced at its lower part at 28- to receive a valve ball read pushed by a coil spring, 1, so as to close the orifice of the channel 2y which ends in the bore i2 in which grout - the piston 26. The channel 28l is connected to the reservoir 2 by a suction ball 32 pushed onto the communication orifice by a coil spring 33 the ball and the spring being housed in a nut 34 screwed onto the cylinder side 28.
The hole 283 of the cylinder 28 is connected by two opposite holes

pressure), and, on the other hand, with the opposite pipe gfl2 which ends at the return valve.
The latter consists of a body 36 screwed onto the body

of pump in. In the member 36, drilled axially at 36, is mounted a valve 37 which closes the orifice of the hole ± fi1 in connection with the reservoir in. A spring

luff coil is interposed between the protective cap 39 and the body 36. in order to keep the valve 12 applied against the orifice of the hole .36.
The cylinders are each controlled independently by one of the pedals 0 and (1 (figure 13) which are articulated on an axis 2. carried by supports A3 fixed to the rear of the tank 2. On the other hand, the valves d 'exhaust 37 are simultaneously controlled by a single pedal 44
EMI4.2
interposed between the pedals Q and Al.
The operation of this hydraulic control system has three distinct phases: oil suction, oil pressurization
EMI4.3
and return the oil to the reservoir. These phases are described below, so In the first suction phase, when the pistons 2fi (figures B and 9) are automatically raised by the action of the return springs A5 attached to the pedals A0 and A1. contained in the reservoir 24 is sucked into the bore 212 of the cylinders 28 due to the erasure of the ball 32. This erasure results from the suction created by the movement
EMI4.4
In the movement, the ball-valve 1Q closes the orifice of the hole 28 so as to allow the storage of the oil in the cylinder 28.
In the second pressurization phase, when one or the other of the pedals,), Al. Or both pedals at 11 times, are actuated, the oil contained in the cylinders 21 is discharged into the channel 28 at against the ball-valve 30 which is pushed back. This oil enters the pipe 27 of the pump body gz and then passes through one of the pipes.M to act on the pressing pistons of the machine (figure 10). In this phase, the ± ball is applied to its seat and prevents the return to the reservoir of the oil contained in the cylinder.
In the third oil return phase, when the fruits have been pressed, the pressing pistons are raised simultaneously by actuating the pedal 44 by which pressure is exerted on the pressing pistons.
EMI4.5
caps 39. By this pressure (Figure 12), the valve 12 is pushed back from its seat to allow the oil to pass which returns to the reservoir 24 in
EMI4.6
passing through hole 1 of the J20 body
The supply pipes 35 which are connected to the pump bodies 27 pass on each side in the uprights of the machine and have their upper end folded horizontally at 35 @.
Each of the horizontal parts of the pipes is connected to two cylinders 46 in which the axial rod of the pressing pistons 47 slides.
Consequently, each of the pedals 40. and 41 which controls a single pump, only causes the simultaneous displacement of the two pressing pistons.
EMI4.7
A.7 connected to pipe 3 in relation to the pedal operated. The pedals 41, 41 which are foldable, are placed close enough to each other to be able to be actuated together with a single foot, so as to simultaneously control all the pressing pistons 47.
According to an assembly illustrated in FIG. 7, the return from the bottom to the top of the pistons 47, after pressing, is obtained by a single coil spring 48 folded in the shape of a U and supported at the top on a support cradle 49 The latter is fixed on a plate 50 which is raised relative to the support 51.
It is also planned to add a water pipe 52 to which are connected taps .51 housed in the spacer 54. These taps are arranged opposite each chute 55 to achieve a mixture of water and fruit juice.
The hydraulic pump (s) can be controlled with an electric motor equipped with the necessary reducing members, the assembly then being controlled remotely either by button, or by lever or by any other known means. With the hydraulic control arrangements described above, the machine can be set up in a smaller volume and, for example, in the form of a small cabinet supported by an already existing counter.
