PROCEDE ET DISP'OSITIF POUR L'EXECUTION DE PIEUX DE FONDATION ARMES
A BASE ELARGIE.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

PROCEDURE AND DEVICE FOR THE EXECUTION OF ARMED FOUNDATION PILES
WIDELY BASED.
The invention relates to a method and a device for the execution of foundation piles made of reinforced concrete or the like, provided with a widened base molded into the ground. It is more especially intended to form a pile of this kind, the widened base of which is executed at a height and with a controllable volume, while ensuring the obtaining of a pile having a high tensile strength. . The term concrete is used to denote any loose or plastic material suitable for the execution of foundation piles.
The method according to the invention is essentially characterized by the fact that, after driving the tube to the desired depth., A determined axial displacement is caused between the tube and a rigid body occupying at least a large part of the free section at the base of the tube, so as to place this rigid body at a determined distance under the base of the tube, and this distance is maintained while concrete is being introduced into the tube in order to push it laterally into the ground, said rigid body forming a deflector, until an enlarged base of desired height and volume is formed between said body and the lower end of the tube, to then complete the execution of the pile in any suitable manner .
According to the invention, said rigid body, which is preferably made of concrete, is advantageously joined to longitudinal reinforcements extending beyond the upper end of the tube, and the reinforcements are immobilized relative to the tube when 'spacing between said body and the base of the tube is reached. The upper face of said body is preferably conical or the like to facilitate the lateral upsetting of the concrete.
If, under the effect of tamping, the rigid body descends under the tube by a distance less than the desired height of the enlarged base, the tube will be raised by a corresponding height, keeping it in its new position. until completion of the enlarged base.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, it often happens that under the effect of the tamping, the tube being held, the rigid body would continue its descent without there occurring a notable widening of the base of the pile. This drawback is avoided by the invention, which provides for immobilizing the reinforcements integral with the rigid body after a determined descent of the latter under the tube, the reinforcement then only being released after formation of a. base enlarged by the desired volume and height, which can be precisely determined in advance.
Also according to the invention, the rigid body is preferably placed on top of a concrete layer located in the lower end of the tube and easily removable therefrom.
By way of demonstration, some exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the appended schematic drawing, in which! Figs. 1 and 2 show two views in vertical section, respectively before and after the formation of the enlarged base of a pile in progress by means of a dark tube using a waterproof plug in concrete or the like formed at its lower end; Figs. 3 and 4 show similar partial views, in the case where the tube rests on a rigid p ointe and is darkened by direct striking on the tube, and Figs. 5 and 6 show two further variants.
In the example shown in Figs. 1 and 2, tube 1 has been pushed into. the ground by striking an adherent plug .out 2 formed of concrete or the like compressed. When the desired depth has been reached, the tube 1 is maintained and the impact on the stopper is continued until it is partially expelled, or even completely if no water or mud penetration into the tube is to fear. The rigid body 3, advantageously made of concrete, is then introduced into which the reinforcing bars 4, 5, for example three or four in number, are firmly anchored. These bars can be joined by any suitable ligature 6.
On this body 3, a certain quantity of concrete is poured and the ramming is continued so as to expel the body 3 and the concrete out of the tube 1. We continue to pour concrete and knock on it until the body 3 is lowered under the tube by a distance A determined in advance, corresponding to the height of the widened base which is to be formed. At this moment, the reinforcements 4, 5 are maintained in order to avoid any additional descent of the body 3, which could occur if it was not maintained, the ground being supposed to be of such nature, for example. example of clay, that it does not offer sufficient resistance to prevent this descent under the effect of ramming.
This maintenance of the reinforcements is also always advantageous, also in the case where the rigid body does not tend to sink in further and even if the tube had to be raised somewhat to create the desired spacing. between its lower end and the rigid body. Indeed, if the reinforcements were free, they could bend outwards under the effect of the ramming, which would be disadvantageous and no longer allow exact control of the height of the widened base, since the movement. Relative axial ment between the reinforcements and the upper end of the tube would no longer correspond exactly to the distance between the base of the tube and the rigid body.
The new loads of concrete which will then be poured into the tube and tamped, will be pushed back laterally into the ground, the body 3 forming a deflector. For this purpose, the upper face of this body will advantageously be conical, rounded or the like. It will be understood that the control of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
volume of the concrete loads makes it possible to determine with exactitude the volume of the widened base which will be formed on the height A. The concreting of the pile is then completed in the usual way ;, either by removing the tube 1, or by abandoning it in the ground if it is a permanent sheath.
The immobilization of the frame during the formation of the enlarged base can be achieved in any suitable way, for example by means of hooks 7 formed at the upper end of the frames 4.5, which hooks come to rest on the head. of the tube 1 when the body 3 has descended the distance A under the tube. It will be enough to cut the hooks to release the frame after formation of the widened base., If it is about a sheath abandoned in the ground, the hooks can remain. It is also possible to provide the frame with a reinforcing ring at its upper end and immobilize the latter relative to the tube during the formation of the enlarged base. In the case of a permanent sheath, this ring can be given a diameter corresponding to that of the sheath, so that it comes to rest on the latter.
Such an arrangement is shown in FIG. 4 (ring 8).
The application of the invention is particularly advantageous when the jacking takes place by means of a concrete plug, as described above, or by means of a mandrel resting at the same time on the head of the. tube and on a sealing plug made of concrete or the like placed therein. However, the invention also applies with advantage when other jacking methods are used.
In the example shown in Figs. 3-49 the tube 1 rests on a jacking point 9 and is for example lowered into the ground by direct impact on the tube. Before the installation of the body 3 with the reinforcement 4, 5, 6, a quantity of concrete 10 is poured into the tube. When the desired depth is reached, this concrete 10 is expelled, ie before the introduction of the body 3. , or after this introduction and pouring of a certain quantity of concrete onto this body. Then, the enlarged base is formed as described with reference to Figs. 1-2.
In the same way as the plug 2, the concrete mass 10 will form the lower part of the enlarged base, thus completely coating the underside of the body 3 and eliminating any danger of infiltration along the surface of this body, and therefore any danger of destruction of the reinforcements at their point of attachment to the body 3. We therefore remain assured of a perfect anchoring of the reinforcement in the base of the pile, as well as of its strong resistance to traction which tends to separating the shaft from the base and which occur, for example, during soil heaving which is frequent in clay soils.
However, it is understood that the invention also extends to the case where the body 3 is placed directly on the point 9, as well as in the case where the body 3 is one with this point 9, that is to say in the case where the reinforcements 4, 5 are anchored directly in the point 9 as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, this point then being advantageously provided with a conical or rounded upper face.
To oppose the bending of the reinforcements outwards over the free height between the tube and the rigid body during the tamping of the concrete to form the widened base ;, the invention also provides for reinforcement of the reinforcements over at least this height free. Furthermore, in order to reduce the number of lobes of which the enlarged base will be composed as a result of the presence of the reinforcing bars which inevitably obstruct the lateral upset of the concrete, it is advisable to reduce the number of reinforcements, for example to three which is the minimum to avoid tilting of the body 3, the section of these bars being increased accordingly. The use of a small number of reinforcements of large section is therefore very advantageous. The number of reinforcing bars for the pile shaft may be greater.
Figs.5 and 6 show such embodiments.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In Fig. 5, the frame comprises a small number of large bars 11 anchored in the rigid deflector body and a number of thin bars 12 terminating approximately at the base of the tube 1, all of these bars being joined by one. ligature 6. The tip 9 and the body 3 (Fig. 3) are combined into a single body.'13 '.
In Fig. 6, the reinforcing basket for the pile shank comprises thin bars 12 and at the lower end of at least some of them are fixed, for example by welding, larger bars 14 anchored in the body 13.
