<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

CONNECTION DEVICE FOR THE SYNCHRONOUS CONTROL OF APPLIANCES
STEP BY STEP SWITCHES.
In the technique of telecommunications, telemetry and remote controls, it is frequently necessary to synchronize or respectively to make depend on one another successive connection operations in two distant places (A and B) so that another no connection to place of B is first of all possible only when the previous connection step to place A has also actually been carried out and vice versa. In these cases, it can act as stepping switch devices, selectors, relay chains or similar devices.
Installations of this kind generally require, besides their own connection elements, a series of control relays and, which in many cases is particularly disadvantageous, require more control lines, still special auxiliary lines. by which the return announcement of the no connection is made
The object of the invention is a connection device for the synchronous control of two switching devices located in different places and which ensures absolute security of mutual synchronization using only one command line, without that other auxiliary lines or communication channels for the return announcement of the execution of the next connection are not necessary.
According to the present invention, this safety of synchronous advancement of step-by-step switching devices is achieved by the fact that these two devices are interconnected under the action of a triggered increase in current intensity. step by step from one of the extreme positions on the control line and from a power cut triggered from the other extreme position on the control line.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A mutual advancement step by step of two switching devices not connected by a transmission line, is already known per se; however, the known arrangements, as already mentioned at the beginning, require at least two control lines and different voltage sources at both ends of the transmission line, because several criteria are necessary for the characterization of the different connection stages.
In known installations, therefore, positive and negative pulses or else the different half-waves of an alternating current are used. On the other hand, the invention has the advantages of a single control line and a single voltage source at only one of the two locations, and it does not matter which side of the transmission line or control line the voltage source is connected to. The mutual control of the step-by-step switching devices is then effected exclusively by the control connection means connected to both ends of the control line. Any pulse transmitters are therefore not necessary.
The practical construction of the connection apparatus is preferably carried out in such a way that when the control line is switched on, the connection means at one of its ends first receive only a current. inactive while the control connection channels at its other end are already responding to this current, switch on the corresponding step-by-step switch device which therefore advances by one step and at the same time cause an increase in current on the control line which suffices to operate, at the far end of the control line, the control connection means mentioned in the first place, which initially received only an inactive current.
These control connection means and the step-by-step switching device which they actuate are constructed in such a way that after each switching step executed, there is automatically a short-term interruption of the control line. by which the connection means arranged at the other end of the control wire is again switched off. '
The drawing shows a connection diagram of an exemplary embodiment of the invention. This example is based on an assembly of connections provided with an electromagnetic stepping switch device of a known type at one end of a control line SL (instead of A) and a relay selector RW using a so-called relay. automatic hold at the other end of the line (instead of B).
From the magnetic step-by-step switching device, only the advancing magnet D is shown. As a further important advantage of the invention, it follows that any stepping switching devices are fundamentally different in their design. assembly can operate synchronously, while in the known arrangements, as a general rule, similar installations of this kind are required at both ends.
The kind and manner of starting the step-by-step switch device, its stopping in any position which can be determined in advance and finally its return to the rest position, are not described in more detail here because they are of no importance from the point of view of the invention. It is only noted with regard to the return to the rest position that this can be carried out as well in a known manner by local return current circuits as in the same way as that described in what follows, for starting. synchronous operation of the two connection devices, from the rest position.
The operation of the connection circuit shown is as follows: it is assumed that there is only a voltage source at place A, while at place B, the devices consist of an unattended substation, without own power supply. In order to start up the installation, it is further assumed that a voltage is applied to the winding of large resistance I of a control relay J in a manner not described in details. We thus form the following circuit:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
-, JI, D, SL, 0, ab, 01, 1 ', S1, S'2' +
In this circuit only the large resistance relay J operates, and the windings of the relays 0, 1 and S1 located in this circuit at the far end of the control pipe, receive only an inactive current.
Relay J does not close its contact i '' 'the circuit of connection magnet D, prepares by i' the connection of a low resistance holding winding @ to the control line and closes by means of it '-a capacitor C charging circuit crossing the holding winding When the magnet D attracts its armature, the switching device advances by one step. At the same time, the contact d operated by the magnet armature is reversed so that the high resistance winding of relay J is cut off from the control line and in its place the low winding resistance is switched on. This inversion is carried out without interrupting the excitation of relay J.
To ensure the inversion of this relay without interruption, the capacitor C is provided, the load current of which keeps the relay J energized by the coil II for the duration of the inversion of the contactodo. The relay J can however during this inversion time, be kept energized in another known way.
In the circuit thus formed
EMI3.1
JII9 i ', d, SL9 09 ab, 0'9 l'9 S, 8'2 + J remains energized and the relays S1, I and 0 operate in the order listed, calculating their windings correspondingly. 0 SI opens its SI 1 contact before relay I closes contact 1 '. The circuit designated above is again interrupted by the action of 0 on the contact o 'so that the relays O, 1 and S1 are again without current. Relay 0 is kept energized by means of a holding winding in a way which is not shown in more detail, while relay I as a so-called "automatic holding" relay designated here by the small black triangle, still keeps its frame attracted when it is not receiving current.
The opening of the contact o 'consequently produces an interruption of the circuit passing through the control line, the duration of which at place B is determined by the fall time of relay S1. In fact, as soon as the latter has fallen, a new circuit is formed which, starting from ends at the command line, passing through s'1, S2, 11 ', 1', 1 ''. The sole condition of removal therefore remains that the power cut on the control wire is long enough for the contact i 'of the control relay J, thus no longer receiving current, to open with certainty. this place.
By dropping relay J, connection magnet D also no longer receives current and the line is reconnected to the high-resistance winding JI. The game starts again when, instead of B, the new circuit described above closes in sequence.
In the circuit:
EMI3.2
JI d,, SL9 I "1199 11% 8 29 9 S '1 + relay J operates first of all again, puts D on, resulting in the inversion on the low resistance winding JII. above, relay S2 operates at B and opens its contact S'2. Relay II is then energized according to its winding II 'and finally, by the counter-excitation produced in winding 1', relay I is released and opens its contact 1 ''.
Thus begins the second cut of the command line SL because the circuit
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
next of relay III prepared by relay II at contact 2 'and S1 is still open at contact Se 2' This does not close again until S2 falls due to the opening of contact l ''. Relay II is also self-sustaining and is only unhooked after the next connection step after relay III has been energized. All subsequent connection steps are carried out in the same way.
As one raises without more, the connection magnet D can receive a new impulse only if the control relay J has triggered once in the meantime, and the latter can only trigger again by cutting the pipe. control because inversion on the low resistance winding does not interrupt its excitation.
On the other hand, instead of B, a subsequent connection of the chain can only take place if the circuit prepared by the interruption of the current is again closed by a control relay each time different at A. But this does not happen. This is only possible after re-energizing the connecting magnet and thereby reversing the low resistance winding JII. In this way it is perfectly ensured that each of the two stepping-switch devices to advance synchronously can never take a new step until, on the other side, this connecting step has been executed. The stepping switching devices therefore control each other automatically without the need for a particular pulse current source or feedback line.
Power cuts between individual steps can be very short. By connecting the winding JII in series with its own contact i ', the result is that the relay J still releases reliably when the power failure has already ended before the final termination of the excitation of the. relay J. It is sufficient only that contact 1 'is already somewhat open at this time.
By an appropriate choice of the durations of the switching on of the relays participating in the mutual control, it is possible to achieve a noticeably high step-by-step connection speed even for this mutual action control.
