<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

DEVICE.FOR, THE .DOULERING .OF .WIRES. REMAINING ON .COILS, AND .DUCED .TUBES.
The subject of the invention is a device intended for unwinding the yarn residue which is found on the unwound tubes or coils. There are known machines of various constructions made to rid the reserves and turns of residual yarns from the tubes of yarns or twists, as well as the weft spools. Most of these machines are arranged so that the thread is wound on a drum provided with a longitudinal slit and is cut and removed by this slit. The coils must be brought together to these machines, the service of which requires the co-operation of active forces.
The object of the present invention is to automatically and immediately follow the unwinding of the yarn residue after unwinding of the spool.
It consists in attaching to a unwinding machine, between the reel to be unwound and the reel to be wound up, a winding stool for the yarn residue rotating with the feeder apparatus, means being provided for gripping the beginning of the residual yarn severed from "the reel unwound above one of the movable guide eyes and to transfer it to the winding drum.
The transfer of the beginning of the yarn residue to be unwound preferably takes place by means of a gripping arm, actuated by the mechanics of the unwinding apparatus, at the very moment when the device activates the knotter apparatus.
However, other means can be imagined, for example blower or vacuum systems, which lead the wire onto the winding drum.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in side view, the device suitable for a winding machine.

Fig. 4 shows the same organs after tying.
Fig. 5 shows a front view of the thread pick-up device.
Fig. 6 shows the same device seen from the side.
Figs. 7 to 9 represent three different positions of the thread taker.
Fig. 10 shows in section the drum for winding the residual yarn.
Fig. 11 is a detail of the order for this drum.
To the frame 1 are attached a winding device 2 as well as an unwinding device 3 with an associated thread knotter 4. The thread is pulled from the spool 5 through the wandering eye 6a and the fixed eye 6, then wound on the spool 7. In the space between the thread knotter of the unwinding apparatus and the spool 7 is arranged a drum 8, actuated by the winding apparatus 2 using a control described below; a gripping arm G grasps the thread cut above the guide eye 6a and brings this thread into the field of the drum 8, which winds the residual thread coming from the spool 5a.
On the frame 1 is' fixed a shaft 9, on which is mounted a wheel 10 with inclined teeth. On both sides of this toothed wheel, which does not turn, are mounted rotating plates 13 (fig. 5 to 9), connected by distance bolts 14 and 15. On the bolt or axis 14 is arranged the eye 16 of the rod 17, connected by a lever 18 (fig. 1), which can oscillate around the pivot 19 arranged on the unwinding device 3. The lever 18 carries a roller 20 , and on the unwinding apparatus 3 is mounted a cam 21, which rotates during the reel change and pushes down the lever 18, whereby the rod 19 turns the plates 13 around the shaft 9 .
One of the plates 13 carries a lug 13a (fig. 5 and 6) to which the bolt 22 is fixed, around which the gripping arm turns G. The hub 23 of the latter carries a straight toothing, engaged with the inclined teeth of the wheel 10. The bolt or axle 22 is consequently fixed to the eye 13a with an inclination corresponding to that of the inclined teeth of the wheel 10. During the desired rotation of the plates 13, the hub 23 of the gripper arm G rolls on wheel 10 and, as a result of the inclination of arm G, gripper Z of the latter describes a movement of a helical nature, along the dotted line 12 (FIG. 1). The movement of the arm G and its clamp Z is illustrated more fully by FIGS. 5 to 9.
To this arm is fixed a slider 26, by the screws 27 engaged in the buttonhole 28. The slider 26 has a nose 30 and a nose 32. A spring 33 pulls the slider 26 towards the hub 23, so that the wire F is clamped between the nose 32 and the projecting part 34 of the arm G, these two parts together forming the clamp Z. In the rest position of the gripper arm G, the nose 30 rests on the bolt of distance 15 (fig. 6) and the Z clamp is open.
The movement of the rod 17 occurs when the knotter 4 has tied the thread of a new spool and cut the thread of the spent spool with a shear.
As soon as the rod 17 begins to move in the direction of arrow b (fig. 1), the gripping arm G turns to the left, in the direction of arrow c (fig. 7) and the nose 30 slips away. of bolt 15, which activates spring 33 and closes clamp Z, which tightens thread F.
Due to the fact that the bolt 22, around which the arm G pivots, is inclined with respect to the shaft 9, it follows that the wire F, taken by the gripper of the gripping arm, is fed (phantom line in fig. 5) behind the rim 60 of the drum 8, so that, when the gripper arm is tilted (fig. 9), it is clamped between the drum 8 and its rim 60. As the drum 8 starts to rotate, since the thread is tied to the new full spool and when the winding device is re-engaged, the residual thread of the spent spool is wound up on the spool.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The control of this winding drum 8 and its embodiment can be seen in particular in FIGS. 10 and 11. The toothed pinion 40 emerges from the side wall of the winding apparatus 1 and meshes with a toothed wheel 41, mounted on the shaft 42, which is carried by the support 43, itself screwed onto the wall of the shaft. the box 1. On the shaft 42 is further wedged., by a pin 45, a worm 44 'Between the stop surface 43a and the screw 44, it is convenient to interpose a coil spring 46, which pulls the shaft 42 against the bulge 42a. With the screw 44 meshes the helical toothed wheel 47, fixed on the shaft 48 by the pin 48a.
The shaft 48 is journalled daris the casing 49 of the support 43, and it bears on its front part, fixed by the corner 51 of the disc 52 and the screw 23, the winding drum 8 of the residual thread.
This drum has a flange 55 ′, a cone 56, and a front wall 58. The latter has a recess and the disc 60 is centered on the shoulder 59. In the disc 60 are riveted two studs 62, which engage in the drum 8 through orifices 63 in the wall 58. On the front face of this wall are fixed, by screws 64, spring steel wires 65, which hook into the notches 66 of the studs 62. In front of each Notch 66 is machined an inclined surface 67, on which the spring wires 65 slide when engaging the studs 62. This device allows the disc 60 to be adapted to the front wall of the drum 8 and of the to separate.
The cone 56 of the drum 8 is strongly rounded (chamfered) at the point where it becomes the front wall 58, so that a slit is formed at 69, in which the thread sliding on the cone. If the ends of threads are already wound up on the cone 56, it suffices for the adhesion of the new thread with those which are already wound up so that it in turn is wound up. If the space between the edge 55 of the drum 8 and its disc 60 becomes filled with residual threads, the drum 8 can be stopped by hand to remove the wound threads. The immobilization of the drum 8 causes the displacement of the worm 44 to the right against the pressure of the spring 45a, and the toothed wheel 41 disengages from the wheel 40, which stops the control of the drum 8.
The disc 60 can then., Since the drum 8 is mounted idle, be removed and the entire ring of wound son can be extracted from the cone 56.
It may be advantageous, in certain cases, to remove the threads from the drum 8 after having cut them. The drum 8 and the disc 60 are .. for this purpose .. provided with a transverse slit so that they can, as usual, be separated from each other by cutting them with a knife. In this case, there is no need to remove the disc 60.
The gripper arm described for picking up the cut threads and transferring them to the drum is only one example. It would also be possible to use, for this transfer of cut son., A blowing or suction device.
