<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

CAN, ESPECIALLY FOR AUTOMOTIVE FUEL.
The present invention relates to a container, in particular for fuel for automobiles, and aims to create a container which can be emptied easily and easily.
It is known that the emptying and the transfer of the contents of cans into a tank of a vehicle or into another container present difficulties, even if the container to be filled is provided with a funnel.
To remedy these drawbacks, nozzles have already been proposed which can be adapted to the pouring opening of the container. Such nozzles, although they are very practical ;, nevertheless present a special part to take away which can be lost and the adaptation and removal of which, in connection with the opening and closing of the device-der closure of the container, present an undesirable waste of time.
According to the invention, the container is provided with a drain pipe, which can be brought by pivoting towards the position of use. In addition, the bottle may have a device for closing the drain opening, which opens and closes by pivoting the drain pipe; In this way, a drain hose is always located on the container, which hose does not cause disturbances in its rest position and which can be brought, if necessary, into the position of use, so that waste of time and laborious handling, due to the fixing of the drain-pipe and its subsequent removal, are avoided.
In addition, there results- the additional advantage that the drain hose automatically opens and closes the closure device of the canister, being brought into- and being moved away from the use position, if, in addition, the drain pipe is brought into action with the closure device of the container.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description below, in conjunction with the accompanying drawings which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
represent exemplary embodiments of the invention without, however, limiting the invention to the exemplary embodiments.
Figure 1 shows a vertical sectional view of the top of a canister with a straight drain hose.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the container according to Figure 1.
Figure 3 shows a partial vertical sectional view of the upper part of a canister with a curved drain pipe.
Figure 4 is a plan view relating to Figure 3.
Figure 5 shows a vertical sectional view of the top of a canister with a drain hose which can be pivoted partially towards the interior of the canister.
Figure 6 is a partial plan view of the container according to Figure 5.
Figure 7 shows, in vertical section, seen from the side of the curved part of the drain pipe, the container of Figure 5.
The container 1. is provided with a drain pipe 2 which can be brought by pivoting into the position of use. The latter is represented, in the drawings, by a dashed line. On the other hand, the container has a closing device which is opened and closed by pivoting of the drain pipe.
In the embodiments according to Figures 1 to 4, this closure device comprises a closure body 3 which is adapted, in Figure 1 by a traction member 4 and in Figure 3 by the links 28, at the end of the drain hose directed to the canister drain hole.
The pulling member or the links are just long enough so that, by swiveling the drain pipe towards the rest position, the closure body is pulled into the closed position, shown in solid lines in the figures let 3.
The drain hose can be fixed both in the use position and in the rest position, and serves, in the rest position, as a handle for transporting the container.
On the side facing towards the canister drain opening, the drain hose is provided with a collar-shaped seat 5. The drain opening has a corresponding counter-seat, designated 6 in figure. 1, which consists of an elastic packing material, such as rubber. The collar 5 is pressed against the counter-seat by a clamping device.
According to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2, there is shown, as a clamping device, a hasp 7 which passes over the collar 5, and a catch 8. The catch is pivoted on the collar, after the morail - we have had to grasp the collar 5.
In figures 1 and 2, the articulation of the drain pipe is made by a pair of levers 9, which flank the drain pipe. The pair of levers has a pivot pin 10 at the drain pipe and a pivot pin 11 at the canister.
In the container according to Figures 1 and 2, two handles 12 are located at the top of the container. The drain hose is placed between these two handles when it has been brought by pivoting into the rest position. The upper surface 13 of the container has a shape such that the drain pipe only rests on the upper surface in the vicinity of its pouring end, and can be, elsewhere, grasped from below. By means of the spring clip 14, the drain pipe is secured in the rest position. The support piece 15 of the clip, to be actuated with a finger, facilitates the removal of the clip to release the pipe.
The air hole 16 is provided in the upper surface of the container.
The drain hose closes the air hole at rest and is provided with a seal 17 for this purpose.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the exemplary embodiment according to Figures 1 and 2, the ring 18 is screwed into the drain hole and the drain pipe is articulated in this (ring. The projections 19 of the ring make it easier to remove. socket of the ring to screw and unscrew it.
In Figures 3 and 4, the drain pipe is housed in the articulation of the container, so as to be able to turn around its axis, and a bayonet closure is provided to secure the seat of the drain pipe to the counter-seat. - age of the tank The drain pipe has two rings 5 and 20, between which. is arranged a ring 21 so as to be able to move.
This ring comprises a branch 22 which is connected, by the hinge 23, to the upper surface of the dono Ring 5 at the same time constitutes the seat in the form of a collar for the drain pipe pivoted outwards.
When adapting the ring 21 to the drain pipe, one can proceed by passing through the ring 21, the drain pipe 2, provided with the collar ring 5, and then sliding the ring 20 on the drain hose and attaching it to that hose.
The bayonet closure may be formed so that the flange ring 5 is provided with radial protrusions 24, diametrically opposed, while tabs 25 are provided on the upper surface of the container which tabs leave between their faces. $ lower and the upper surface of the canister a slot 26 for 1-1-engagement of the protrusions = When opening the canister, the drain hose is swung outwards and rotated first so that the protrusions 24 arrive, during the adaptation of the collar 5 on the counter-seat 27, between the tabs 25.
Then, - we continue to turn the drain pipe so that the projections come to grip the tabs below and the drain pipe takes the position shown in phantom in figure 3 The lower face of the tabs can easily present a wedge inclination at the opening of the slot 26, so that the flange is forcefully pushed onto the back seat.
The drain hose is bent in an arc. The can has a support 29, suitable for the arcuate shape, for the pouring end of the drain pipe. When the drain pipe has been swiveled inwards, the end used for pouring is placed on this support 29 = In this position, the drain pipe is taken over by a spring member which consists of in a tilting element 31, being under the action of the spring 30 on the rod 32. Inside the end of the pipe is provided a leaf spring 33 which can be pushed downwards by the push-button 34 and which has a point 35.
The latter passes through the end of the pipe and into the part, passing over, of the tilting element
A leaf spring 36 passes over the air hole provided at the bottom of the support. This leaf spring carries, at its underside, a rubber nipple 37 which blocks the air hole after pivoting the drain pipe towards the bottom. inside.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 5 to 7, the drain pipe has a perforated curved part 41 which passes into the drain opening to extend inside the container. Then, the curved part passes into the stuffing 42. The end of the curved part extending inside the canister is closed by a plate 38 which protrudes on the pipe like a collar 39. Holes 40 are provided. up to the closure plate.
Of course, it is also possible to provide the end of the pipe directly with a collar and to close the tube by a suitable plug or other means. In any event, the holes 40 should only be provided up to the closure device.
The center of curvature of the curved pipe is in the axis of the hinge 23 around which the pipe can be rotated. The curved part 41 of the pipe. is long enough for the flange 39 to tighten closely the packing 42, when the drain pipe is pivoted into the rest position, that is to say when it occupies the position shown in Figure 5.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The drain pipe is fixed to the container in the same way as in the example of the embodiment of figures 3 and 4. Likewise, the fixing in the rest position as well as the closing of the air hole in the holder of the drain pipe are the same as in the example of execution according to figures 3 and 4.
