<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

REDUCABLE BIKE EQUIPPED WITH A MICROMOTOR.
The present invention relates to a reducible bicycle provided with a micromotor, the dimensions of which can be reduced to those of a common suitcase.
The object of the invention is that of providing for the application of the motor to a reducible bicycle, of an improved type, so that the reduction of the dimensions of the bicycle itself can take place without requiring the displacement of the motor, as this is happening now.
Such an object is obtained by providing a particular type of mounting of the motor which acts by adhesion on the front wheel of the bicycle.
According to the invention, the motor is mounted on a frame arranged on the front wheel of the bicycle and fixed to the front fork by side uprights to said wheel, by means of a movable joint which allows small rotations of the bicycle. the whole in the vertical plane. The said small frame is supported by rods sliding in sleeves, also fixed to the front fork, one of which is springy, which allows by the already mentioned rotation of the frame, the removal of the grip element from wheel.
A clutch lever arranged on the handlebars of the bicycle makes it possible to perform such a maneuver.
For the particular type of application, the engine cylinder has been arranged horizontally and longitudinally under the support frame, while above and in direct contact with said frame is applied the fuel tank of reduced dimensions. and of such a shape as to allow the complete lowering of the handlebars, to reduce the bicycle to its minimum overall dimensions.
As regards the improvements made to the bicycle, they consist of a special flexible support system for the wheel.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
front and in the rear frame provided with devices that greatly facilitate disassembly of the wheel.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the included drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows the bicycle according to the invention under the conditions of use, compared with a common bicycle, marked with dots.
Fig. 2 represents the bicycle in the conditions of the smallest footprint, always compared to a common bicycle.
Fig. 3 shows the front view of the front wheel of the bicycle alone, according to the invention with the small motor.
Figs 4 and 5 represent the two side views of the wheel of fig. 3.
Fig. 6 shows the detail of the telescopic tubes which constitute the anchoring of the engine support frame.
Fig. 7 is a longitudinal view of the bicycle in the walking position (solid lines) and in the least crowded position (dotted lines); and fig. 8 shows the front fork in perspective.
With particular reference to figs. 3 to 6, the aforesaid micromotor is placed on the console constituted by the tubes 1, which are interconnected, in their horizontal part by the plate 8 (fig. 8) long like the fuel tank 10, which is applied on the plate itself.
The tubes 1, in their upper part, are bent downwards and assembled by means of the articulations 3 on the elastic uprights 2 which connect the console formed by the tubes 1 to the ears 23 between which is supported the hub of the wheel. the bicycle.
The frame 1 is connected, on the side of the front fork of the bicycle, to the articulation of the rod 24 to which are fixed the three rods 6 of which the two outer ones can slide in the sleeves 5, fixed in turn, to the middle of the small band 7, at the front fork of the bicycle.
On the central rod of the three aforesaid, is placed the spring 9 which tends to hold down the rod 24 and therefore the frame formed by the tubes 1, which supports the motor, that is to say the grip drum 13 of the motor pressed onto the wheel of the bicycle.
The control 20 which acts on the rod 24 by means of the wire 25 and which goes to the handlebars of the bicycle, makes it possible to overcome the resistance of the spring 9 and to lift the entire frame by moving the grip drum away from the wheel, rotating it around joints 3 and 24.
The motor is mounted on the above-mentioned frame, consisting of the tubes 1 and the plate 8, by means of the ears 4 and is completed by special devices, able to make its use practical and efficient.
It is indicated in particular by 11 the supply cock of the carburetor 18 and by 12 the drain cock of the fuel contained in the tank 10 and intended to allow the emptying of the tank even when the bicycle has to be reduced to its limits. minimal overall dimensions to be transported as luggage.
The grip drum 13 is fitted with a drip guard indicated by 14. The engine is fitted with a flywheel magneto 15 and a downward turn exhaust pipe 16 and fitted with a silencer 17 .
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
From the carburetor, supplied by the pipe 22, finally leaves a wire control indicated schematically by 26, which goes to the gas lever 19 fixed on the handlebars of the bicycle.
In front of the tank 10 is arranged a headlight 21 as a standard equipment of the vehicle.
It is obvious that the arrangement of the motor illustrated above will in no way be an obstacle to the folding of the elements of the bicycle in order to reduce the latter to a minimum space requirement, making it possible to reduce the assembly to the dimensions provided for transport. of the vehicle as luggage
The articulation of the frame also makes it possible to detach the motor from the front wheel of the bicycle while driving by means of any type of control, possibly with wire, so as not to create any bulk at the reduction. tion of the vehicle, even while maintaining the safety of its operation
With particular reference to figs 7 and 8, the two horizontal and parallel tubes of the frame 31 and 32 are welded to the steering tube 33 around which a rigid parallelogram can be rotated by means of normal devices,
formed by the tubes 34 and 35 and by the bolsters 36-37.
The tubes 38 and 39 of the handlebar slide between the tubes 34 and 35 which, in their upper part, have two hinged heads 40 and 41, where the ends of two other tubes 42-43 are articulated which extend downwards to the hub of the wheel to form the front fork of the bicycle.
The articulations of the tubes 42 and 43 and of the heads 40-41 will be - preferably obtained by means of elastic sleeves of the "silent block" type or the like, or else the heads 40-41 can be mounted so as to spring on the frame formed by the tubes 34-35 and the bolsters 36-37, by means of any known device.
The two branches 42-43 of the fork are also interconnected by the bolster 44.
The steering tube 33 ends at the bottom with a plate 45, crossed by a pivot 46 whose head is integral with the bolster 44 while its rod is threaded.
A spring 47 is compressed between a plate 45 and the nut 48.
In this way the fork is held adherent to the tubes 34 and 35 on which it presses with the interposition of two small blocks of elastic substance 49 and 500
When the weight of the cyclist is supported on the bicycle and when the roller 51 of the micromotor drives the wheel 52, the spring 47 will be stretched and will perform oscillations which, with the effect of the silent-block or other elastic device of the heads 40 and 41 will give the bicycle sufficient elastic flexion even on rough roads.
At the same time the same spring 47 will function as a tear guard because, if the motor suddenly starts up, the force is propagated to the spring 47 which gives way, thus reducing the tear. The posterior part of fig. 7 shows a particular conformation of the rear fork which facilitates disassembly of the wheel.
The tube 55 represents one of the two uprights of the frame between which slide the telescopic tubes of the saddle support.
The two frames 56 and 56 '(the latter is not visible) equal and parallel constitute as a whole the fork proper and can each be welded to the respective uprights 55 and 55' (the latter is not visible) or although they can be formed by a single tube, which has one end welded to the upright 55, for example at point 57, so it forms the frame which is visible in fig 7; it is welded to the upright 55 at point 58 and the tube is then bent perpendicular to the plane of the drawing to form the frame 56 '(not visible) which ends at point 57', not visible and corresponding to point 57.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
A sector 59 is welded to the frame 56 on which the hub 60 of the return wheel is mounted. Two tensioners 61 and 61 'serve to tension the chains 62 and 63. A slot 64 is cut on the sector 59 to remove the hub 60.
To the lower part of the two frames 56 and 56 'are fixed the two sectors 65 and 65' (the second not visible) which have a long arched slot 66, with its center in the center of the hub 60. This slot is as long as the sector and the hub 67 of the rear wheel slides on it when the bicycle is reduced to its smallest space, or when one wants to remove the wheel.
But, in order to prevent the hub from coming out of the slots 66 and 66 'whenever it is desired to reduce the bicycle, the length of the sectors is adjusted so that, if the tire is inflated, the latter striking against the trans tubes. - versals which connect the two uprights 55 and 55 ', prevent the hub from coming out of the slots 66 and 66', while if the tire is deflated, a fact which is always verified when you want to remove the wheel, the hub can move forward a few more centimeters and come out of the slot. It is then sufficient to remove the false link of the chain 63 to dismantle the wheel.
The other operations to go from the running position to that of the least space are obvious.
The entire rear part of the bicycle approaches the front part by sliding the tubes 31 and 32 between the sleeves fixed between the uprights 55 and 55 '. The handlebar and saddle support tubes enter into the respective tubes 34-35 and 55-55 ', while the motor remains in its place on the front fork.
