SIEGE BASCULANT

TILTING SEAT
The object of the invention is a seat of the so-called chaise-longue type and this seat is characteristic in that its support elements remaining stationary, the seat itself and the back support can tilt by modifying their relative angular position so as to ensure, in all movements, a comfortable position, Tilting,., respectively the change of position of the seat itself and of the back support, is carried out, without any mechanism, by the occupant himself without that the latter must neither get up nor activate any device for this purpose.
The movable elements of the seat move according to the will of the occupant in proportion to the position taken by the latter.
In order to meet such conditions, said seat is made, in a way, by two very distinct groups of members: 1 - all the members participating in the support proper, these members being foldable one on the other, but immobile when the seat is deployed, and 2 - the participating members of the seat proper and of the back support, which are articulated on the fixed support and can mutually tilt, as explained above.
In order to bring out the characteristics of the invention more clearly, more detailed explanations are given below with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 represents the seat according to the invention in the deployed state and , in phantom, a second position of the tilting elements; FIG. 2 represents, in perspective view, a detail of the construction of the fixed support; FIG. 3 represents, in perspective view, the seat according to the invention completed by a legrest.
The seat according to the invention is produced by two groups of organs, the first providing the support proper and the second forming them.

tilting elements.
The support itself consists substantially of a parallelogram 1-2-3-4 articulated around the four pivots, respectively 5-6-7-8. The upper side 2 carries the armrest 9; the front element 3 of the parallelogram is extended downwards and rests on the ground; Posterior isolation 1 of the parallelogram is articulated by a link 10 at an intermediate point of the rod 11 forming the second support on the solo The deployment movements of the parallelogram 1-2-3-4 are limited by a stop 12 coming into contact with said rod 11.
All the elements which have just been described are arranged on either side of the seat, in a perfectly symmetrical manner, and all these elements are joined together two by two by crossbars,
The group of elements forming the actual support of the seat can be deployed as shown in Figures 1 to 3, or be reduced to a relatively very small footprint by folding over one another of the various articulated elements, respectively of the parallelogram 1-2 -3-4 and rod 11.
On the support thus conditioned, bear the tilting elements forming the seat itself and the back support.
The tilting elements are also packaged in the form of a parallelogram as follows: the seat itself is formed of two longitudinal members 13-14, joined at the front by a cross member 15 and articulated at the rear by means of pivots 16 at an intermediate point of the lateral uprights 17-18 of the dorsal support These two lateral uprights 17-18 are mutually secured by two cross members 19-20, respectively upper and lower.
The uprights 17-18 are articulated on the upper side 2 of the parallelograms 1-2-3-4 of the support elements by the same pivots {; already reported. Finally, the side members 13-14 of the seat proper are supported towards by connecting rods 21-22 articulated, on the one hand, to said side members 13-14 by the pivot 23 and, on the other hand, to the upper edge 2 by the pivots 24-25. Examination of FIG. 1 clearly shows the mutual movements, respectively of the seat itself and of the support, dormant under the sole request of the occupant and in proportion to the position taken by the latter.
Contrary to custom, it is the seat proper and the back support which adapt almost instantaneously and automatically to the position taken by the occupant.
Obviously, the seat thus conditioned is completed by the canvas upholstery of the seat proper and of the back support, respectively 26-27 and, optionally, by a leg support formed by an extension. sion 28 articulated in front of the seat proper and having front supports 29-30 resting on the ground (FIG. 3).
It will obviously be possible to make any generally unspecified accessory modifications to this seat and, in particular, to replace the components described by all equivalent components or of equivalent function.
Also, this seat can be made in all appropriate dimensions, in all materials deemed suitable and receive any general accessories.
