<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Combined shower with water tank.
The object of the present invention is an apparatus which makes it possible to boil laundry more rapidly than by the methods generally employed to date, and furthermore to ensure the simultaneous heating of a reserve of water which can be used either for heating. rinsing, either to supply a bathtub or for any other similar use.
The apparatus according to the invention is essentially constituted by a tank, made of copper or any other suitable metal, relatively light, which, by an upper rim, rests on the internal rim of a hollow metal ring. , the height of which is equivalent to that of the tank and which can be filled with a suitable connection to the water supply.
The base of the appliance is a circular plate around which has just adapted a vertical cylindrical surface.The chamber thus formed at the lower part of the appliance has, in its center, a coal or other fuel fireplace. , from which the combuston gases are evacuated through a chimney crossing the

@ round at the top of the device and ensuring the draft.
The water brought in the circular crown can - when it is hot? - be called, by the simple operation of a tap, in a pipe which then distributes it to a bathtub or to any other receptacle; alle can also, through a special connection, flow into the washing tub for the laundry which is part of the appliance.
It goes without saying that the apparatus thus conceived offers a notable advantage in that the heat expended for the actual washing operation serves at the same time for heating water which can be used for various purposes.
The details of the embodiment of the device in accordance with the invention will become clear from the above description given with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the device. and Figure 2, a section of the fireplace, along II-II of Figure 1.
1 designates the base plate, circular, generally in sheet metal, supported by feet 2 and on which is fixed by rivets a vertical cylindrical sheet 3, bent at its upper and lower edges at right angles to the interior and supporting, in turn, a hollow crown 4, at the bottom of which cold water was brought by means of a connection pipe 5, controlled by a valve 5 '; another pipe 6, controlled by a valve 6 ', supplies the tank 7; case two pipes are connected à.la distribution pipe 8. The tank 7 widens upwards and is suspended by its outer side rim 9 to the internal edge of the ring 4, which ensures its retention in place.
The heating is provided by a coal or other fuel fireplace, limited by a wall 10 rising from the base plate at a distance from the bottom of the tank sufficient for the passage of the gases; the grid 11, on which the fire is supplied, corresponds to the bottom of the tank to be heated; the hearth opens at the front at 12 and comprises an ashtray 13. The heat which is released spreads into the chamber 14-14 'and is communicated to the crown and to the tank; refractory linings 19 can be provided, to concentrate the heat towards the chamber 14-14 '. The combustion gases that emerge
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
are eliminated by a chimney 15, which ensures the draft.
At the top of the ring 4 and, preferably, on the side opposite to that of the cold water supply, a second piping system is provided, a central pipe 16 being subdivided into two branches, of which the a 17 - controlled by the tap 17 '- may be used to route hot water to. the central tank while the other 18 - controlled by the tap 18 '- allows / to direct it to any other place of use, the discharge of hot water depending on the cold water supply.
It is understood that one could envisage variations in the realization of the object of the present invention, for example in the details of construction, without thereby departing from the spirit of the invention.
