Procédé et dispositifs pour supprimer ou provoquer
EMI1.1
-------------------------------------------------- l'aotion de ressorts ou d'organes agissant de façon analogue.
¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯aa¯¯¯¯¯¯a¯.,¯¯¯aa¯¯¯a¯¯¯¯a¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯a¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯a¯a¯¯a
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

Method and devices for suppressing or causing
EMI1.1
-------------------------------------------------- the aotion of springs or organs acting in a similar fashion.
¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯aā¯¯¯¯¯ā., ¯¯¯aā¯¯ā¯¯¯ā¯¯¯¯¯¯ā¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯āā¯a
We know the usual process for disabling action. compression, torsion, tension etc. springs, or weights or equivalent components in devices in which, in order to exert any other power, the action of the springs or weights must be interrupted for a determined time, or conversely this action must be provoked again from the interrupted state.
The disengagement (disabling) of friction brakes or clutches which are held in the engaged state by the spring pressure, is usually done by human force in such a way that one acts against the spring tension. or the action of weights in such a way that complete disengagement of the brake or clutch occurs.
An example of the usual clearance (disengagement) for example of a clutch is shown in the drawings appended to FIG. 1.
It can be seen from this figure that the driving plate 2 of the clutch is fixed to the motor shaft 1. The driven plate 3
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is permanently applied to the driving plate 2 by the pressure of the spring 4 The disengagement is effected for example by the pedal 5, which is mounted so as to be able to turn around the fixed point 6; this pedal is acted upon with force in direction 9. The shorter arm 7 of the pedal then acts against the pressure of spring 4 and disengages the clutch.
If, to disengage, you have to travel, with the lever arm 1 of the pedal, with the average pressure of the spring P in kg, the path 1 in cm, you should provide a work Pl kgcm.
In the case of the clutch or brake for large operating rotational moments, the spring must be of corresponding force so that disengaging or releasing the brake by human force is very difficult.
This drawback is avoided by the object of the present invention which embraces the method and the device for suppressing or causing the action of springs of all kinds or other means acting on the basis of elasticity, pressure, depression, traction, as weights or the like, all these means being shown in the description which follows, under the name of springs.
Unlike the hitherto usual method for suppressing or causing the action of springs, which acts by means of a force on a determined path against the tension of a spring, the introduction or elimination of the action of the spring are effected according to the present invention by the displacement of the point of action of the spring in such a way that by this displacement the incorporated length and therefore also the tension of the spring hardly vary, which means that the Spring tensions must be overcome, a minimal expenditure of labor sufficient for the displacement of the spring in order to overcome the resistance which arises from friction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The movement of the point of action can be effected by movement of the operating member, for example of the operating lever of a clutch, of a brake, etc., possibly by movement of the entire spring or only of the end work piece from the point of action of the spring, or finally by displacement of a device which serves to multiply the tension of the spring at the point of action considered always with a tension practically not changed from the spring.
There is shown in figs 2 to 14 of the accompanying drawings, by way of examples, some methods and devices for suppressing and causing the action of springs and which act on the operating member of the device put into service by the spring. , such as for example a brake, a clutch, etc.
It has been shown for example in FIGS. a and 3 the method and the device for suppressing the action of the spring 10 which acts on the arm of the operating member; this is the lever 11 which can rotate around the point 12 and is connected to the traction rod 13 by which the action of the spring is transmitted to a specific device, for example a brake or a clutch. The end pieces of the spring 10, the sleeves or the cups 14, are provided for ease of movement of rollers 15, 16 with rolling bearings.
When acting in the direction 19 with a relatively small force, the caster 16 of the end bearing part of the spring 10 rolls on the fixed wall 18 and the caster 15 of the end working part of the spring 10 rolls on the running parallel to the wall 18, of the lever 11, until the roller 15 rests on the fixed wall 17 which forms an extension of the running track of the lever 11. As a result, the spring 10 arrives in the position of FIG. 3 in which its aotipn on the lever 11 is deleted. The weak return spring 20 can then move the lever 11 into the po-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
release sition. By a reverse operation of the position of FIG. 3 up to the position of fig. 2, the lever 11 is again pushed back into the engaged position.
Figs. 4 and 5 show the method and the device for suppressing the action of the spring by removing the working end of the spring from the jointed action zone, following a circular path, which is formed on the member. operation, for example the lever 21 and by its movement on the fixed wall 22.
The disengagement of the springs is effected by means of a minimal force in the direction 24, that is to say again perpendicular to the action of the spring. The roller 15 here rolls on a circular track, the center of curvature of which is at point 23 which at the same time forms the point around which the spring or construction in which the spring is mounted rotates. As the spring progresses from the position of fig4 to that of fig. 5, the smaller becomes the force transmitted by the spring in the traction rod 13. In the position according to FIG. 5, the roller 15 reaches the fixed wall 22, so that the action of the spring 10 on the operating member 21 and on the traction rod 13 effectively ceases: the action of the spring is removed.
The relatively weak return spring 20 then moves the actuator 21 by rotation around the point 12 into the disengaged position so that the clutch is disengaged or the brake is released, i.e. the play necessary between the brake drum and the brake band or brake shoes or between the clutch plates arises.
When the spring 10 is put back into service, the operation is carried out in the opposite direction to the direction 24. As soon as the roller 15, in its path from the position of FIG. 5, passes in front of the center of rotation 12, the moment which arises brings the actuator 21 back to the position of fig. 4,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the weak return spring 21 being compressed. The spring 10 moves into the active position shown in FIG. 4.
Roller 15 and swivel 23 can also be provided here with rolling bearings so that when the spring is brought into and out of action, only the rolling friction in the bearings and in the spring has to be overcome. the caster so that the labor expenditure necessary for the actuation and disengagement of the spring, compared to the work which was expended for this purpose in the current devices (see fig. 1), is less out of all proportion.
The lever II of Figs. 2 and 3 or the lever 21 of Figs. 4 and 5 can be fixed to the pivot 12 on which the brake cam or the device for disengaging the clutch, etc. can be mounted directly.
There is shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 in front view and in plan view the method and the device for transmitting the action of the leaf spring 25 by rotation of this spring around the pins 27, 28 of the support 26 of the leaf spring, the axis of which is parallel or, in the event of partial bending of the leaf spring, approximately parallel to the direction in which the spring tension acts. The working end of the spring 25 rolls by means of a roller 29 on the actuating member of the brake or the clutch, for example on the lever 30 which is mounted so as to be able to rotate around the pivots 31, 32 .
The track on the actuator 30, which is shown in FIG. 7 in the engaged position is in the plane perpendicular or approximately perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the leaf spring 25, so that by the rolling movement of the spring in direction 55, the spring tension hardly varies.
In the position shown in FIG. 7, the action of the spring on the actuator 30 is in service. By rotating the spring in direction 55 to behind the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
rotation 31, 32, its action on the actuator 30 is eliminated.
There is shown in FIG. 8 a special solution according to the principle visible in fig. 4 and 5. There are arranged here one behind the other two actuators of two different braking devices, clutch ', etc., which are engaged alternately by a single actuating spring 10. The two actuators actuators are connected by traction rods 35, 36, or by pivots of the shafts 53, 54, to the devices which are put into service by these actuators and the latter are provided with running tracks 33, 34 which have a shape such that in the position of removal of the operating elements, the spring 10 can move on these rolling tracks 33, 34 without its tension substantially varying.
Between the two maneuvering members there is disposed a fixed support track 22 which forms the extension of the tracks 33, 34. In the case where the roller 15. of the spring 10 rests on this fixed track 22, the two control members maneuver are put out of action by means of their tracks 53, 34.
By movement in the directions 37, 38, it is possible to activate the spring 10 alternately on the two actuators 33, 34 and thus activate the corresponding devices. This arrangement could be conformed in an analogous manner for the modes of solution which are shown in FIGS. 2, 3 or 6, 7. It would also be possible to have more than two actuators one after the other, their tracks forming, in the engaged position, sections of a track. circular or rectilinear bearing. The individual maneuvers would be separated by fixed parts of the track.
It would also be possible to place several actuators side by side (parallel) and to actuate them separately.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
directly by a larger rolling wheel by means of one or more tilting levers.
There is shown in FIGS. 9 and 10 a device which is apparent to that of FIGS. 4 and 5 and which can also be used for realizations according to .fig. 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and similar embodiments. The maneuvering member 39, which can rotate around the pivot 12 and which is connected to the device to be maneuvered either by means of this pivot or by means of the traction rod 13, carries the rolling track serving for the movement of the working end of the spring 10 which is again established in such a way that in the engaged position of the actuator 39, it allows, without variation in tension, the rolling movement of the spring 10,
The raceway 41 is formed on one side of the pivot 12 while on the other side of this pivot, another raceway 42 has been formed which is inclined with respect to the track 41 in such a way that after the folding of the actuator 39 around the pivot 12 up to the fixed stop 40 (see fig. 10), this raceway 42 takes a position in which its center falls to the center of rotation 23 of the spring 10, so that this spring can travel through track 42 without voltage variation. By moving the spring 10 on the track 42, with this device a forged pivoting of the actuator 39 is produced into the out of action position, an operation for which a special spring or similar device would be necessary. .
Figs. 11, 12 show a device which is a development of that according to FIGS. 9, 10 and which can also be used for the devices according to FIGS. a, 3, 6, 7. In this case, the operating member 39 has running tracks 45, 46 on both sides of the rotation pivot 12, one of these running tracks each time belonging to a working arm. of the actuator
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
One of the lever arms of the maneuvering member, carrying the track 45, for example puts into service, by means of the traction rod 35, a device, the second lever arm carrying the track. bearing 46 activates another device with the draw rod 56.
The two rolling tracks 45, 46 are established in such a way and inclined relative to each other in such a way that when the corresponding arm is put into service, the rolling track allows the operating spring 10, without variation of tension, the walking movement and that the running track of a working arm is, in the service position, the extension of the running track of the second arm in its service position. By the movement of the spring 10 of an arm of the actuator on the second arm, when one of the arms is put into service, a forced disabling of the second arm is produced.
Figs. 13 and 14 show another device following the process of figs 2 to 7, which can also be a variant of the device according to figs. 8 to 12. In this device, the working end of the spring 10 circulates on a fixed track 49, of circular or rectilinear shape, the shape and arrangement of which with respect to the center of rotation of the spring allow that the tension of the spring in its reciprocating movement does not vary. On the profile of this rolling track, the actuator 50 protrudes with its oblique part 51 and part 52.
The spring 10 which rolls from the position shown in FIG. 13 and in direction 55, circulates by means of its roller 15, without leaving the track 49, on the oblique part 51 of the actuator and moves the actuator 50 into the position of fig. 14, as long as the roller 15 of the spring 10 does not reach the part 52 of the actuator.
The device to be put into service, brake or

clutch, is adjusted in such a way with respect to the actuator 50 that during the complete commissioning of the device and its actuator 50, the rolling part 52 exceeds the fixed raceway 49 so little that the The actuator 50 can take all the pressure of the spring 10 so that the length of the spring incorporated and its tension hardly vary substantially.
To produce an automatic return of the actuating spring 10, which circulates back and forth on the rolling track of the actuator or on the fixed track, without variation in its tension, it is necessary have a special return spring 20 which returns the displaced operating spring 10 in one direction to the initial position, as soon as the force action which has separated the spring ceases. This use of the return spring is usual in industrial practice,
To simplify the device, it is possible, in the case where an automatic return of the separated operating spring is necessary, to produce the device described in such a way that the running track of the spring on the operating member or on the fixed track receives a small inclination compared to the position which ensures the rolling movement of the spring without variation of its tension.
This has the consequence, it is true, that when rolling the operating spring in the inclined direction described, the spring tension increases somewhat, but this excess tension favors, during the return movement, the reestablishment. of the operating spring in the initial position and acts as if the device were provided with a special return spring. Depending on requirements, the deviation from the regular circular or rectilinear track can be achieved only in several sections of this track.
The track for the operating spring can,

in all the cases described so far, also be provided with notches or shallow recesses in which the rolling roller of the operating spring falls down and thus immobilizes the spring in the desired position against any unwanted displacement .
Frequently, and this in particular in the case where the running track is formed by several maneuvering members or working arms (see fig. 8, 11, 12), it is very advantageous for maneuvering by hand. or at the foot to make visible the position taken by the operating spring (when it is not directly visible). This result can be obtained by the fact that there are small indentations, elevations or slopes in the rolling track which, by increasing or decreasing the resistance arising during the rolling of the spring, cause know to the personnel that the spring passes in the positions where these obstacles are placed.
