<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

BAKERY OVENS IMPROVEMENTS.
The present invention relates to ovens for bakeries, pastry shops, etc., and more particularly those heated with hot charcoal on a grate.
It is known that in furnaces of this type certain difficulties are encountered in carrying out the combustion properly and in preventing the formation of fumes. In general, the lower fuel layer burns quite difficultly, especially when relatively poor fuels are used.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to provide a bakery oven in which better combustion can be achieved and which is efficient.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
thus likely to burn inferior fuels which usually cannot be used.
For this purpose, the bakery oven is characterized in that it comprises, in the axis of the platform or the grid, a blowing box comprising in its upper part flattened air blowing orifices s' extending over the entire length of the furnace and opening into the fuel introduced into the furnace.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the blowing box comprises at its upper part longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs which are intended to cool the cover in direct contact with the fire, and to consolidate the box.
These ribs are preferably formed by T-irons which are surmounted by the cover resting on these irons by small flanges in order to produce the blowing openings of flattened shape.
In order to make the invention fully understood, an exemplary embodiment thereof will be given below.
FIG. 1 shows an end view of the blowing box, with partial section through a vertical plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the box.
FIG. 2 shows a partial section of the box, taken by a vertical plane passing through the axis of the box.
Figure 3 is a vertical section through a bakery oven provided with the blowing box according to Figures 1 and 2.
Figure 4 is the plan view of the oven floor.
As shown in these figures, use is made of a box 1 of elongated shape, made of sheet metal, arranged in the axis of the grid 2 of a hearth 3 of a bakery oven, so
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
that the greater part of the box is located in space 4 of the ashtray, while its upper part is housed in the mass 5 of the fuel on the grate.
This box is connected by a duct 6 to an air blower (not shown). At its upper part, it comprises parallel irons T, 7, which are themselves connected to each other in place by transverse ribs 8, so as to present to the blown air a large cooling surface and to play. the role of consolidation stiffeners. The end plates 8 'are shaped so as to serve as a guide for fitting the assembly into the box 1.
The irons T, 7, are spaced so as to leave between them a slot 9 for the passage of air to a kind of flattened chamber 10 formed by the upper part of the irons 7 and a cover 11, fixed on these irons for example by hard, by means of soles 12. This cover 11 is preferably formed of several metal parts extending from one sole to the other, which favors the expansion movements due to the variations of temperatures.
This chamber 10 thus has blowing openings 13 of flattened shape extending over the entire length of the furnace and opening into the fuel resting on the grid.
The last sole is formed by two longitudinal tabs 12 ', so as to form a blowing opening 13' towards the rear of the box and consolidate the end of the latter.
In order to facilitate the circulation of the air, openings 14 are provided at the top of the transverse ribs 8, under the slit 9 for discharging the blown air, or at other suitable places.
The upper part of the side walls of the cabinet @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
finally has additional blowing openings 15 opening immediately above the grid 2.
The box further comprises a diaphragm 16 extending above the blown air inlet of the duct 6, in order to prevent the accumulation of ash in front of this inlet.
In ordinary furnaces, it suffices to remove a few bars either in the axis of the furnace, or at the desired locations, in order to be able to place immediately without difficulty the blowing box, which then rests by its ends provided for this. effect, on the supports 17 of the bars.
Under these conditions, blown air can penetrate directly into the mass of fuel, a short distance from the grate and along the entire length of the furnace, in order to burn the lower layer of fuel there. fuel generally subject to poor combustion conditions.
The set of irons T, 7, of the ribs 8 and of the cover 11, can be made up of a removable assembly which is placed at the upper part of the box 1 and can be easily removed therefrom. Under these conditions, it is possible to proceed with rapid disassembly for cleaning.
By virtue of this additional blowing device, serious savings are made in the quantity of fuel used for heating the furnace, owing to the better combustion obtained, as well as in the kindling wood. In addition, it is possible to use fuels that are poorer and therefore less expensive.
The advantages resulting from the presence of this blowing box with removable upper wall and resistant to the effects of fire, are obtained both during ignition, which is greatly facilitated, and in the conduct of the fire, which is done. easily.

This box finally overcomes the drawbacks resulting from poor draft of the chimney.
