Robinet.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Tap.
The present invention relates to a tap made of bronze, copper, and all other suitable materials, which gives the great advantage of being completely safe from the point of view of its closing, while allowing easy handling which can be operated at will in the two directions of rotation of the key or the like operating the valve.
Two new advantages of the valve according to the invention are:
1) in that the valve can rise as soon as the pressure of the fluid increases excessively, and can thus act as a safety valve, which in some cases is of great importance. This is how the valve can also absorb small water hammers and prevent them from bursting if the pipes are frozen.
2) in that the outer body carrying the flow neck pivots on the fixed body and allows the horizontal orientation of the flow all around its axis.
In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of example, a mode
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
execution of the present invention.
The fi.l shows an axial section of a valve according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 gives, in vertical section, a detail of the assembly of the valve stem in the control spider.
Fig. 3 shows, in section, the valve control spider, while
Fig.4 is a vertical section of the valve head.
According to one embodiment shown in the drawing, a fixed body 1 is provided with a seat 2 for the water passage. The body 1 is bent in fig. 1, but it goes without saying that it can be rectilinear or be in any other form depending on its destination.
The body 1 is laterally pierced with several .orifices. allowing the escape of water in the circular chamber 21 of the body:? emerging through the neck 31. according to a special embodiment, an outer body 3, of conical inner shape, comes to rest on the corresponding outer wall of the fixed body 1; the external body 3, which is movable, is held in place by the pressure of a spring 4 which is supported on the other hand on a threaded head 5 which is screwed onto the fixed body 1.
This embodiment allows the flow spout a variable orientation. By the action of the spring 4, the possible wear by friction due to the orientation maneuver of the spout 31 is taken up automatically, by continuous application of the outer body on the inner body 1.
On the body 1 is screwed the valve head 5 which carries, on its upper face, two empties 6, which fit bosses 7 provided on the underside of the spider 8.
Jur the seat installs a valve 9, formed of a leather or rubber disc, axially perforated to allow the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
passage of the threaded end of a rod 10; the valve is held on the rod by resting on the one hand on a projection 101 of the 'rod 10 and on the other hand on a guide 11 which is screwed onto the end of said rod.
The rod 10 axially passes through the head of the valve 5 and the spider 8 with which it can come into contact by a capuohon 12 held by a screw 13 on the other end of the rod 10 duly tapped for this purpose.
To maintain the valve on its seat, a spring 14 is provided which rests on the projection 101, as well as on the head 5 with the interposition of a ring 15 of rubber or the like. material capable of forming a seal, taken between two copper washers 151 and 152, to prevent the fluid from passing through the head.
In order to allow the possible wear of the valve 9 a slight space is provided between the head 5 and the spider 8. To remedy this wear, it is sufficient to reassemble the cap 12 by simply unscrewing the screw 13. To avoid the play between the spider 8 and the head 5, a spring 16 keeps them apart. For ease of understanding the drawing (fig.l), elements 5 and 8 touch each other, and 8 and 12 are shown as being apart, while in reality 8 and 12 will be in constant contact so as not to leave an impression clearance between these components when operating the valve.
At the upper part of the spider 8, a plug 17 is screwed into which can be embedded a capsule 18 of conventional color or bearing an inscription to identify the nature of the fluid delivered by the valve. A rotation of the spider, to the left or to the right, has the effect of making the bosses 7 come out of the recesses 6 and to mount these bosses 7 on the planes 61 in elevation between the recesses.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
6; the head 8 pulling on the cap 12 will in this way mount the rod 10, as well as its valve 9. for closing, it suffices to return the bosses by a new rotation in the recesses, which will allow the valve 9 to s 'apply again, under the effect of the spring 14, on its seat.
A sleeve 10 may be provided, fixing to the spider, and ,, - 'pressing into a circular groove 20 provided in the head 5 so as to hide the existing space between the head 3 and the spider 8.
It goes without saying that the idea behind the present invention can find many other practical embodiments, which can present in the most different aspects according to whether they are to fulfill only: a utilitarian purpose or at the same time serve to. decorative, artistic, and other purposes.
