MEMOIRE DESCRIPTIF à l'appui d'une demande de BREVET D'INTENTION Il PLAQUE DE BOIS RENFORCEE ET CAISSE DEPLIANTE EN BOIS CONFECTIONNEE AVEC CETTE PLAQUE"
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 1 représente, en élévation, une partie d'une caisse étalée à plat;
Fig. 2 est une vue partielle d'une variante, montrant le joint de pliage;
Fig. 3 est une vue en perspective, montrant une caisse sans couvercle;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY in support of an application for a PATENT OF INTENT II REINFORCED WOODEN PLATE AND FOLDING WOODEN CASE MADE WITH THIS PLATE "
The invention relates to a wooden plate. Until now, to obtain reinforced wood plates, layers glued under pressure on one another were used, thus forming the so-called triplex wood, or multiplex.
Such wood slabs have proven to be too thick and too expensive for certain applications. Ordinary thin wooden boards, 3 mm. thick for example, have cons. the disadvantage of being too fragile and, therefore, unusable for the manufacture of boxes and packing cases.
According to the present invention, the drawbacks mentioned above are avoided by the use of a thin wooden plate lined on both sides with a layer of resistant paper, for example
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of simple wrapping paper. Such a wooden plate has the advantage of being able to withstand a large tensile force, without breaking. When the wooden slab is not too thick, it is even possible to bend it into rendering, to make round packing boxes, which are distinguished by their great strength and elasticity, and are also very light.
The invention also relates to a folding wooden box, the elements of which are joined to each other by pivoting, and aims to establish a box in a light and inexpensive material and which is easy to manufacture.
Crates serving, wrapping and set up with thin boards have the disadvantage that their walls are so thin that the lid and / or bottom cannot be nailed down, while crates with metal strips are still too expensive.
This drawback is eliminated according to the invention, by the fact that the pivotal connection of the elements is achieved by a thin flexible strip specially arranged on them, for example a strip of paper or canvas, and that these elements are cut in bevel outward at the location of this connection.
According to the invention, the walls, the cover and the bottom of the box can be formed starting from a single combined plate, itself composed of one or more layers of wood and one or more layers of paper, a portion of the material, of a thickness almost equal to that of the wall, being removed along the lines of separation of the constituent elements of the. checkout.
Thanks to the fact that the edges of the elements are bevelled towards the outside (under 45 for example), they come into contact when the body is erected, in such a way that the insertion of the seal from the outside becomes impossible, while the provision of the band prevents a puncture at the location of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
folding joint.
According to the invention, and in the case where all the elements are established starting from a single plate., One can also leave a thin layer of wood to. the location of the joint.
Instead of wrapping paper, it is also possible to use other paper having the same characteristics with regard to strength and flexibility.
According to the invention, the plate in question is obtained by assembling the wood and the paper with the interposition of a layer; adhesive and applying strong pressure.
As a variant, and if necessary, the wooden plates can be covered with paper on one side only. For waterproofing purposes, the paper may be coated with a layer of paraffin or covered, or impregnated, with another material having the same effect.
Several other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will emerge from the following description and from the accompanying drawing.
The latter represents some exemplary embodiments according to the invention. In this drawing:
Fig. 1 shows, in elevation, part of a box laid out flat;
Fig. 2 is a partial view of a variant, showing the folding joint;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showing a case without a cover;
Fig. 4 is an unfolded box, with a cover, bottom and walls formed in one piece.
The combined plate which may comprise the elements intended to form the walls and, if necessary, the cover and the bottom, of the box, which elements are joined together by a strip 4, preferably of resistant paper or of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
canvas, consists, in the embodiment shown, of a wood plate 1, obtained by sawing or otherwise, to which is glued on both sides a layer 2 of resistant paper, for example wrapping paper The wood can also be covered with paper on one side only, or not at all; it can also consist of several layers of fine wood, for example veneer wood, alternating with layers of paper.
The wood slab can also consist of an uncovered triplex wood slab.
The edge of the elements called to constitute the body are cut at a bevel at an angle of 45 and meet at the fold joint. All the elements can just as easily be cut in a single plate, by practicing along the fold joints of the channels of section in V, so that in addition to the layer of paper 2, one leaves a thin layer of wood 3 (Fig. 2).
The depth of the channels is provided so as to leave an outer layer 2 of paper as well as a thickness of wood which allows folding, while avoiding the risk of breakage during use.
When dressing the elements of the box, the strip of paper 4 is folded in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, or the paper layer 2 and the wood layer 3, in the variant according to FIG. 2, so that a perfectly sealed and robust case is obtained. The bottom, and possibly the cover, can be nailed separately to the body, or else be integral with the walls thereof, the whole being formed starting from a single combined plate, or otherwise.
