DISPOSITIF TENDEUR POUR COURROIE, EN PARTICULIER POUR LA COMMANDE DES VENTILATEURS DE MOTEURS A COMBUSTION REFROIDIS PAR L'AIR @ Les ventilateurs des moteurs à combustion refroidis par
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 est une coupe axiale d'une réalisation conforme à l'invention ;

BELT TENSIONER DEVICE, IN PARTICULAR FOR THE CONTROL OF FANS OF AIR-COOLED COMBUSTION ENGINES @ The fans of combustion engines cooled by
EMI1.1
The air are generally actuated by wedge or trapezoidal belts which, with relatively small pulley diameters, are able to transmit considerable powers through the wedge action. But with controls of this kind one comes up against the difficulty of lengthening the belt, which is why the belt must be re-tensioned from time to time or replaced after a certain time.
This belt tension is very difficult to achieve - for this purpose it is not possible, with good results, to use ordinary tensioning rollers for wedge-shaped or V-belts. If a roller of this type is placed on the outside of the belt, it causes the latter to twist on the drive pulleys and, therefore also, a faulty transmission of the driving force and finally wear of the belt. belt or its putting out of use due to friction. If the tensioner roller is placed on the inner side of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the belt, the angle of the latter on the driving pulley is considerably reduced and with it, the value of the driving force transmitted by the belt.
These difficulties are remedied in accordance with the present invention by arranging a pulley eccentrically with respect to a shaft connected thereto by toothed wheels or similar members and by allowing it to oscillate concentrically to the axis of this shaft. A particularly advantageous arrangement of the invention consists in mounting the pulley on a movable eccentric and in mounting this eccentric concentrically to the shaft connected to the pulley, the belt tension then being effected by moving the eccentric. . The transmission of the movement of the pulley to the corresponding shaft can be effected by friction or positive engagement, for example by means of toothed wheels.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown schematically by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. In this drawing:
Fig. 1 is an axial section of an embodiment according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a side view corresponding to that of FIG. 1.
A shaft 1 with its toothed wheel 2 rotates in the fixed bearing 3 of a housing. On the bearing 3 is mounted so as to rotate an eccentric 4. On this eccentric is mounted a box 5 carrying the pulley 5a with internal teeth 6 and conical groove.

By means of a lever or handle 10 the eccentric / can be moved, this movement can be effected by hand or by a permanent force. This permanently acting force can be produced by a spring 9 which is connected on the one hand to the lever 10 and on the other hand to a fixed point, for example to the casing of the fan.
By suitably choosing the eccentricity, the amplitude of the displacement can be varied within wide limits,

without resulting in the problems encountered previously,
The invention is obviously not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown and it can be applied in the most diverse embodiments for any kind of transmission devices with belts, cabies, chains or the like. it is also irrelevant whether the device is mounted on the drive shaft, on the driven weapon or on both.
An advantage of the invention also resides in the fact that it makes it possible to achieve an increase or a reduction in the transmission ratio; it should also be taken into account that the pulley can be mounted for example on a pivoting arm on the shaft and be connected to the latter by two straight toothed wheels,
The device shown with internal teeth and eccentric appears, however, to be particularly advantageous because it is hidden and requires little space.
