<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Fig. 2 est une vue en élévation et coupe par 11-11 de la fig. 1;
Fig. 3 est une vue en plan correspondant à la fig.2; Figs..4 à 7 montrent, en élévation et coupe, diverses variantes ; Figso 8 à 11 montrent en élévation et coupe, et en plan, deux variantes de la disposition suivant la fig. 7 ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
dispositif 3*
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

PATENT OF INVENTION HEATING IMPROVEMENTS, IN PARTICULAR BY USING SMALL CALIBER FUELS.
The invention relates to heating and relates in particular to heating using fuels, such as coals, of small sizes.
The applicant has already proposed a process for the uninterrupted combustion, during prolonged periods, of small-caliber fuels, by blowing, within a bed of this fuel, contained in a trough with an unperforated bottom and supplied with fuel as required. consumption, pressurized air, introduced by nozzles arranged horizontally, or vertically from top to bottom, or obliquely downwards, at some distance from the bottom of the trough.
The applicant has also proposed various arrangements of apparatus for carrying out this process which in principle included a trough with a non-perforated bottom, an insufflation device cooled by circulation, the flow orifices of which open at some distance from the bottom of the tank. 'trough, and a fuel feed device, operating for example by simple gravity, and arranged in particular so that, with respect to the slag which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
can form during combustion, the fuel path and the combustion air flow are preferably in the same direction.
Due to constructive necessities however, until now the reciprocal situations of the insufflation and the fuel bed were not the same, nor even appreciably the marls, in all the parts of the hearth with the consequence of a lack of Uniformity in operation, which could reach a greater or lesser degree, detrimental to high efficiency.
The object of the invention is above all to remedy this drawback; it also aims to simplify the arrangement of the apparatuses, so that their construction as well as their assembly are made easier and consequently more economical than hitherto.
To this end it consists, mainly, in organizing the blowing on the one hand, and on the other hand the fuel supply, so that the reciprocal situation of the blowing and the fuel bed is determined, in particular the same or substantially the same throughout the home.
It also consists in organizing the fuel supply and the insufflation, in particular by coordinating the conformations of the fuel supply and insufflation devices, so as to produce in a substantially uniform manner a fuel layer of determined characteristics. compared to insufflation, in particular equal resistance to the passage of the wind.
It also consists in arranging, in particular the insufflation device and its associated elements or organs, into a unit suitable for being mounted as a whole in the hearth, either as a suspended system, or as a supported system, or as a system with both suspended and supported.
And so that one can fully understand how the above characteristic arrangements can be practically achieved, the invention will be described below in more detail,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
with reference to the drawings, more ... or less schematic, appended, of several preferred embodiments or arrangements of equipment, taking into account that, for certain:
of them, if it has already been proposed to have, opposite the mouth of a combustion air inlet nozzle '' 'a cap or other screen to prevent the penetration of fuel into this opening, in such a case the cap or screen is established only in harmony with the size of the mouthpiece and does not constitute an element of the insufflation nozzle, coordinated for this insufflation with the other elements of this nozzle, in particular the air intake.
In addition, unlike the cap or screen, where combustion can occur and slag can form, the nozzle element is organized so that the fuel travels over its surface.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 shows in elevation, and section through I-I of fig.2, a first embodiment;
Fig. 2 is a view in elevation and in section through 11-11 of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 2; Figs..4 to 7 show, in elevation and section, various variants; Figso 8 to 11 show in elevation and section, and in plan, two variants of the arrangement according to fig. 7;
Figs. 12 and 13 show, in elevation and section, two other variants.
Referring firstly to Figures 1 to 3,1 denotes, illustrated in a conventional manner, a trough the bottom 2 of which is not perforated, which may be independent of the appliance to be heated, such as a boiler, or the like. , or constitute an integral part of this appliance, or of an associated preheating device, and 3 designates an insufflation device, supplied with pressurized air, supplied by a ventilator 4 or another suitable source, an adjustment member such as 5 being provided to control the air supply to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
device 3 *
The insufflation device, which consists of a cooled system, in particular by circulating water, is isolated in the internal space of the trough and in the example, it is established in the form of a kind of bell comprising an inner tube 6,
surrounded by water walls 7, to the upper part of which is connected, by a junction 9, the air supply duct 8.
The insufflation device 3 are also connected to the water inlet and outlet conduits, 10 and 11, the inlet conduit leading to the lowest point and the outlet being connected to the highest point of the chambers 7. .
Provision has been made for a fuel supply, for example by gravity, the device of which comprises a hopper 12, and a descent duct 13 equipped with a shutter, for example rotating, 14, in an arrangement such that the duct 13 delivers fuel. in the trough 1, all around the insufflation device 3.
To this end, in accordance with the example, the ducts 9, 10 and 11, leaving the insufflation device 3, engage in the fuel descent duct 13 and extend therein a sufficient length so that the current descending fuel is reformed and uniform when it reaches the end of the conduit 13 to enter the trough, despite the obstacle formed to its flow through the conduits 9, 10 and 11.
To facilitate this reformation and standardization, these conduits can optionally be given quadrangular, oval or similar sections, and have them in particular in a separate formation as shown,
Alternatively, the water supply and departure ducts could be housed inside the air supply duct, at least in the lower portion of the descent duct 13.
At one or more points sufficiently distant from the lower end of the duct 13 so that beyond the latter the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
downward flow of fuel is in any case reformed and standardized, the conduits 9, 10 and 11 are deflected outwardly from the conduit 13 to meet the connections to which they must be connected, as has been shown schematically.
In the example, the inflections of the conduits 9, 10 and 11 are required in the conduit 13 by the particular type of closure. rator chosen, but it goes without saying that, the shutter being for example established in the form of a movable cone, the conduits 9, 10 and 11 could as well be extended into the space of the hopper 12, as we have seen. partially shown in broken lines for one of them.
The delivery of fuel over the entire periphery of the blowing device thus obtained is still coordinated with the distribution of the wind by the blowing device according to the desired distribution of the combustion, i.e. the shape given to the duct 13 is harmonized with that of the insufflation device 3, in order to obtain a determined distribution of the fuel around the periphery of this device, in particular a distribution such that the layer of fuel has, over its entire periphery, substantially the same resistance to the passage of the wind.
In the example chosen, the latter result is achieved by giving the contour of the section of duct 13 a shape similar to that of the contour in plan of the insufflation device 3, as can be seen in FIG. 3.
Therefore, if pressurized air is sent through 4, 5, 8 and 9, into the chamber 6, there is obtained, over the entire periphery of the device 3, a substantially equal combustion, without in areas or places particular, there are projections of fuel, torches or losses of combustion air, the clinker, figured in M in a stage of its development, that the air bypasses in its path, forming itself in a way substantially uniform, with, as a result, an interesting increase in the efficiency of the apparatus.
In the example, the device has been represented with
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
one of its axes more developed, but it goes without saying that the axes could as well be equal, just as the trough 1 could as well * be circular, or affect any other shape according to the device to be heated or others conditions to be met.
In very elongated hearths, it may be advantageous, to facilitate the removal of bottom ash, to provide, in certain places or areas, for example the area furthest from the front of the fireplace, a less development of these bottom ash, a result which can be easily achieved by providing in these places or zones a more or less marked excess of the fuel supply, obtained, for example, by a suitable conformation, in particular a slight increase in local section, of the duct 13, or even by a resistance to the flow of air provided in the insufflation device 3, or by equivalent means.
It will be noted that in the example the insufflation device 3 and the associated elements are in a way suspended and that it will suffice, for assembly and disassembly,
to make or break couplings such as 15, which is easily achieved.
The arrangement of FIG. 4 is in principle similar to the previous one, the insufflation device 3 comprising a chamber 6 terminated by a lower air passage slot 16.
According to the arrangement of fig 5, the introduction of pressurized air is obtained by the combination of an ascending duct 17 and a deflector 18, the latter established with water circulation including the duct of feed 19 is preferably disposed axially in conduit 17 and starting conduit 20 is arranged in one of the ways already described with reference to Figures 1 to 3 *. Baffles 181 can be provided in the water chamber of the deflector 18.
A mesh, grid or the like may be provided to prevent foreign bodies from entering the conduit 17, for example during the removal of bottom ash.
The air supplying the duct 17 can, beforehand,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
run one or more chambers'21 adjacent to the bottom 2, or other walls of the trough 1 with a view to its reheating prior to combustion.
In the arrangement of FIG. 6, the deflector 18 is formed by an appropriate conformation of the contiguous turns of the duct 19, extended by the duct 20, the deflector being formed by the internal surface of all the turns of the duct 19, or by a partition attached to the inside these turns, or the equivalent,
In the arrangements according to FIGS. 7 to 11, the air is introduced into a chamber 6 surrounded on all sides, in the internal space of the trough 1, by a water circulation chamber 7.
According to fig. 7, the air from chamber 6 enters the fuel bed through horizontal openings or slots 22, the arrangement of the air inlet and water circulation ducts being otherwise similar to that of one of the previous figures.
In Figures 8 and 9, the nozzles from the chamber 6 are formed by longitudinal slots, horizontal or obliquely directed downward 22, the chamber 7 being extended to the wall 2 of the trough 1. The nozzle is arranged in the trough 1 as shown in fig. 9 and suitable fittings 15 provide removability of the insufflation device.
In figs, 10 and 11, 1 1 arrangement is similar to that of Figures 8 and 9, but the air chamber 6 communicates directly at the lower part with an air box 21 similar to that provided for the freezes 5.
The nozzle has received a conformation reminiscent of an winglet, the air passages 22 being able to be oriented horizontally, or obliquely downwards as shown.
It will be noted that in FIGS. 5 to 7, the insufflation device can equally well be suspended by the duct 20 than supported by the duct 19, or simultaneously by the duct 17 and the duct 19 as in FIG. 7, assembly and disassembly
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
being as easy as before, with provision for judiciously placed couplings. The trough 1, or some of its parts, such as the bottom 2, could moreover be part of the removable assembly, is In fig, 12, the insufflation device 3 of a type similar to that of the figures 1 to 3, but the cooling water supply duct 19 is connected via the lower part of this device.
Finally in fig. 13 is provided, following the line in solid lines, an inlet and an outlet for cooling water, lower and upper respectively, and an air duct 17 combined with a deflector 18, while following the line in broken lines, the The water inlets and outlets are transferred to the upper part, the air being introduced through the lower duct 17 associated with the deflector 18.
In each of the embodiments according to FIGS. 4 to 13, the fuel supply duct 13 is shaped and receives .en .: section a profile in harmony with the blowing device with which it is associated and the distribution of the fuel. to be obtained, as has been explained with reference to Figs, 1 to 3.
It is understood that the characteristics of the various embodiments referred to could be further combined with one another, the typical examples chosen being illustrative but not limiting.
