Procédé de chauffage à l'aide de combustibles de petits calibres, et appareil de combustion pour la mise en #uvre de ce procédé. Dans son brevet nc 167108, l'inventeur a déjà proposé un appareil de chauffage fonc tionnant à l'aide -de combustibl-es@ de très pe tits calibres, cet appareil présentant une auge à fond nan-perforé, destinée à contenir un lit de combustible, alimenté par gravité à l'aide d'un distributeur disposé au-dessus de l'auge, et présentant en outre un dispositif d'insufflation comprenant des passages par lesquels;
Dans le dessin: Fig. 1 montre, en élévation et coupe par I-I de la fig. 2, une première forme d'exé cution de l'appareil que comprend l'inven tion; Fig. 2 est une vue en élévation et. coupe par II--II de la fig. 1;

Heating process using small caliber fuels, and combustion apparatus for carrying out this process. In his patent nc 167108, the inventor has already proposed a heating apparatus operating with the aid of very small caliber fuels, this apparatus having a trough with a nan- perforated, intended to contain a bed of fuel, fed by gravity with the aid of a distributor arranged above the trough, and further having an insufflation device comprising passages through which;
primary combustion air. under pressure, is sent to the bed, in the. direction of the bottom of the trough.
However, due to necessities. constructive, until now the reciprocal situations of the insufflation and the fuel bed were not the same, or even substantially the same, in all. parts of the hearth, with the consequence of a lack of uniformity in the operation, which could reach a more or less marked degree, detrimental to a high efficiency.
The present invention overcomes this drawback. It comprises a heating process using d e small-caliber fuels, by blowing air or pressure into a bed of said fuel contained in a trough with a non-perforated bottom, fed according to consumption and in free communication with a combustion space which increases it,
the blowing air being introduced into the fuel bed at some distance from the bottom of the trough in a direction comprised between a slightly ascending direction and the plunging vertical, characterized in that the fuel is brought over the entire periphery of an insufflation device placed in the internal space of the trough, in the form of a layer having, at least over the major portion of this periphery, a resistance substantially equal to the passage of air , by harmonizing the.
contour of the section of the fuel supply duct to the shape of the blowing device.
The invention also comprises a combustion apparatus for carrying out this method, comprising a trough with a non-perforated bottom, an insufflation device arranged in this trough with its air flow passages oriented in a direction between a slightly ascending direction and the.
vertical plunging, and a fuel supply device opening above the trough, this device being characterized in that the insufflation device is arranged isolated in the trough and has in section a shape similar to that of the fuel supply device, of the conduits for supplying pressurized air to the insufflation device, and for the arrival and departure of a cooling fluid for this device being arranged so that their parts if killed in the auge extend.
vertically in the space delimited by tangent verticals around the perimeter of the insufflation device.
Various preferred embodiments of the apparatus which the invention comprises will be described below. it by way of examples, with reference to the appended drawing, taking into account, for some of the apparatus shown, that if <i have already been proposed to dispose opposite.
the mouth of a combustion air inlet nozzle, a cap or another screen in order to prevent the penetration of fuel into this opening; in such a case, the cap or screen is established only in harmony with the size of the mouthpiece and does not constitute an element of a coordinated sufflation device, with a view to this insufflation, with the other elements, in particular, with the air supply.
Also, unlike the hat or screen, where combustion can occur and clinkers can form, in whatever embodiments one goes. In this case, the insufflation device is organized so that the fuel travels: on its surface.
In the drawing: Fig. 1 shows, in elevation and section through I-I of FIG. 2, a first embodiment of the apparatus which the invention comprises; Fig. 2 is an elevational view and. section through II - II of fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a plan view corresponding to <i la fi-. \ _): Fig. 4 ii 7 show. in elevation and section, four other embodiments of the apparatus comprising the invention; Fi-. 8 and 9 show, in elevation and section, and in plan, another form. execution of the apparatus comprising the invention; Fig. 111 and. 11 show, in elevation and section, and in plan, another embodiment of the apparatus which the invention comprises;
Fig. 12 and 13 show, in elevation and in section, two other embodiments of the apparatus included in the invention.
In the embodiment of the apparatus shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, 1 designates, illustrated in a conventional manner, a trough whose bottom? has no perforations, which may be independent of the appliance to be heated, such as a boiler, or the like. or constitute an integral part of this apparatus.
or a front hearth there * soeié, and 3 denotes an insufflation device, supplied with pressurized air, supplied by a fan 4, an adjustment member 5 being. designed to control the air supply to the device 3.
Instead of being supplied by the fan -l, the pressurized air could come from any other suitable source.
The insufflation device, which is constituted by a cooled system, by circulating water, is isolated in the internal space of the trough and it is established in the form of a kind of bell comprising an air chamber. 6, surrounded by walls of water 7, to the upper part of which is connected, by a junction 9, the air supply duct 8. Instead of water, one could use any other fluid. for cooling.
The insufflation device 3 is also connected to the water inlet and outlet pipes, 10 and I1, the inlet pipe leading to the lowest point and the outlet pipe being connected. at the highest point of the chambers 7.
The apparatus comprises a fuel supply device operating by gravity, which comprises a hopper 12 and a descent duct 13 equipped with a shutter 1.4, shown rotating, but which could be: different, the arrangement being such as pipe 13 delivers fuel into trough 1, all around the perimeter of insufflation device 3.
A. To this end, the conduits 9, 10 and 11, both leaving the insufflation device 3, engage. in the fuel downpipe 13 and extend therein a sufficient length so that the downward flow of fuel is reformed and uniform when it reaches the end of the conduit 13 to enter the trough, despite the obstacle formed in its path by conduits 9, 10 and 11.
To facilitate this reformation and uniformization, these conduits could possibly be given quadrangular, oval or similar sections, and in particular be placed in a separate formation, as has been shown.
The water inlet and outlet ducts could be housed inside the air inlet duct, at least in the lower portion of the downcomer 13.
At one or more points sufficiently distant from the lower end of the duct 13, so that beyond the latter the downward flow of fuel is in any case reformed and uniform, the ducts 9, 10 and 11 are diverted towards the outside of the conduit 13 to meet the connections: to which they must be connected, as has been shown matically.
The inflections of the conduits. 9, 10 and 11 are required, in the conduit 1: 3, by the particular type of shutter chosen, but it goes without saying that in an apparatus where the shutter would be established in the form of a mobile cone, the. conduits 9, 10 and 11 could equally well be "extended into the space of the hopper 12, as has been partially shown in broken lines for one of them.
The delivery of fuel over the entire periphery of the insufflation device thus obtained is further coordinated with the distribution of air by the insufflation device according to the desired distribution of the combustion, that is to say that the shape given to the duct 13 is harmonized with that .du positive insufflation device 3, to obtain a determined distribution of the fuel around the periphery of this device, in particular a distribution such that the layer of fuel present, over all the perimeter of the insufflation device,
substantially the same resistance to the passage of air.
This latter result is achieved, in the embodiment shown, by giving the contour of the section of the duct 13 a shape similar to that of the contour in plan of the positive insufflation device 3, as can be seen in FIG. . 3.
Therefore, if the pressurized air is sent by 4, 5, 8 and 9 into the chamber 6, there is obtained, over the entire periphery of the device 3, a substantially equal combustion, without in-zones or In particular places, fuel splashes, torches or losses occur. of combustion air, the clinker, shown in M, in a stage of its development, which the air con turns in its path, forming itself in a substantially uniform manner with, as a result, a interesting increase in the efficiency of the apparatus.
The insufflation -dispositif has, in the apparatus shown, one of its axes more developed, but it goes. Obviously, the axes could just as well be equal, just as the trough 1 could equally well be circular, or affect any other shape. following the apparatus to be heated or other conditions to its satisfaction.
In appliances for very elongated hearths, it may be advantageous, to facilitate the removal of bottom ash, to provide, in certain places or zones, for example the zone furthest from the front of the hearth, for less development on these grounds. ma chefers, a result that can be easily achieved. by providing in these places or zones a more or less marked eScès of the fuel supply, obtained. for example.
by a suitable conformation, in particular a slight increase in local section of the duct 13, or else by a resistance to the flow of air provided in the insufflation device 3. or by equivalent means.
It will be noted that in the apparatus of FIGS. 1 to 3, the insufflation device 3 ct the associated elements are in some aorta suspended, and that it will suffice., For assembly and disassembly, to perform or undo the couplings 15. which is easily executed.
The embodiment of FIG. .l is ana logue to, la. above, the insulating device 3 comprising a final chamber via a lower air passage slot 16.
In the. embodiment of the apparatus shown in FIG. 5, the introduction of pressurized air is obtained by the combination of an ascending duct 1 7 and a deflector 18, the latter comprising a water circulation of which the supply duct 19 is disposed axially. in the duct 17 and the starting duct 20 is arranged in one of the ways already described with reference. in fig. 1 to 3. Baffles 181 are provided in the water chamber of the deflector 18.
A mesh, grid or the like may be provided to prevent foreign bodies from entering the duct 17, for example during the removal of bottom ash.
The air supplying the duct 17 passes through at least one chamber 21 adjacent to the bottom of the trough 1, with a view to its reheating prior to combustion.
It could also go through other rooms which could be provided on other walls; of trough 1.
In the embodiment of FIG. 6, the insufflation device comprises a deflector 18 formed by contiguous turns of the duct 19 for supplying cooling water, extended by the duct 20, the deflector being formed by the internal surface of all of the turns of the conduit, 19. or by a partition attached to the interior of these turns, or the equivalent.
In the embodiment of the apparatus shown in FIG. 7, the air is introduced into a chamber (i surrounded on all sides, in the internal space of the trough 1. by a water circulation chamber 7.
The air from the chamber 6 enters the fuel bed through horizontal openings or slits 22 distributed suitably around the entire periphery of the blowing device, the air inlet ducts and the air circulation ducts. water extending substantially vertically from the insufflation device.
The embodiment of FIGS. 8 and 9 com carries a chamber 6 surrounded by a chamber with water circulation 7. The nozzles by so much of the chamber 6 are formed by longitudinal slots 22 directed obliquely downwards. the chamber 7 being extended to the wall 2 of the trough 1. The nozzle is arranged in the trough 1, as shown in figure 9, and suitable fittings 15 are provided. removability of the insufflation device.
Instead of being directed obliquely downwards, the slots 22 could be horizon 1 alds.
In the apparatus of FIGS. 10 and. 11, the arrangement is similar to that of FIGS. 8 and 9, but the air chamber 6 communicates directly. at the bottom. with an air box 21.
The insufflation device has a conformation resembling that of a sphere, the air passages 22 being oriented obliquely downwards, as. represented; these steps 22 could also be oriented horizontally.
It will be noted that, in the embodiments shown in FIGS. 5 to. 7. the insufflation device can just as easily be suspended by the duct 20 as supported by the duct. 19. or simultaneously by the duct 17 and the duct 19, as in FIG. 7, assembly and disassembly also being easy (read previously, with provision for judiciously placed ac-couplings. The trough 1.
or, some of its parts, such as the bottom 2, could moreover be part of the removable assembly.
In the embodiment of the apparatus shown in FIG. 12, the sufflation device 3 is of a type similar to that of FIG. 1 to 3, but the, cooling water supply duct 19 is connected to the lower part of this device.
Finally, the embodiment of FIG. 13 comprises an inlet and an outlet for cooling water, respectively lower and upper, shown in solid lines, and an air duct 17 combined = with a deflector 18. In a variant of this device, shown by the line in broken lines, the water inlet and outlet are shown in the upper part, the air being introduced through the lower duct 17 associated with the deflector 18.
In each of the forms. of execution following them! fig. 4 to 13, the fuel supply duct 13 is shaped and receives in section a profile in harmony with the insufflation device with which it is associated so that the fuel is supplied around the entire periphery of the device. insufflation, in the form of a layer having at least on the. major portion of this perimeter a resistance substantially equal to the passage of air.
In addition, as can be seen from the various figures, in all these devices the air is introduced into the fuel bed at some distance from the bottom of the trough following a direction between a direction slightly upward. and the plunging vertical.
On the other hand, in all the devices represented, the ducts for supplying pressurized air to the insufflation device, and for the arrival and departure of the cooling fluid. of this device are arranged, as is apparent from! figures, so that their parts if killed in the trough extend vertically in, the space delimited by verticals, tangent, around the perimeter of the insufflating device, for example in a vertical plane of symmetry the insufflation device,
as is the case in particular for the devices of FIGS. 1 to 3, 4, 5 and 6.
