<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
A cet effet, (fig.
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

Improvements to tipping skips for compaction of materials.
The intention is to improve the devices for loading the skips and for packing the materials inside, by means of a panel pushing the material loaded in front of it towards the bottom of the skip. by an elevator bucket. This device is essentially characterized in that the mechanisms for raising the bucket and for operating the settling panel are controlled so that the second movement begins automatically as soon as the first is completed.
A servo-control mechanism, meeting this aim, is characterized essentially in that the jack, controlling the movements of the panel is connected to a link of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
endless chain, winding on a pinion on the axis of which is keyed a second pinion controlling the upward movement of the bucket.
The longitudinal movements of this cylinder consequently determine the rotation of the shaft controlling the raising of the bucket so that the servo-control of the two controls takes place without a particular locking device.
In certain cases, and in particular when it comes to directly discharging large capacity containers, it is preferable that the axis of the chain pinion does not coincide with the pivot axis of the bucket, but on the contrary is very distant, being connected to it by chain, trees, pignong, etc ...
The compaction mechanism can be combined with the loading and raising mechanism of the bucket, in a hinged assembly towards the rear of the body and forming a door so that this door can be raised with the whole mechanism, completely freeing the body. behind the box and allowing easy and quick unloading, regardless of the degree of compaction of the materials?
To facilitate this assembly, the lifting device will preferably be inclined to the vertical, which, at the same time, makes it possible to advance the point of fall of the materials.
To facilitate the filling of the loading bucket itself, the mechanism can be spared miners that this bucket, when descending, is completely released from the rear part of the bucket and comes to rest on the ground.
Finally, in addition to the usual loading bucket, that is to say the bucket subjected to an upward and downward movement in front of the panel, it is possible to provide a separate collecting container, discharging into the lifting bucket @
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
for example by tilting and overturning analogous to that which has just been described, this tilting and overturning mechanism itself being controlled in conjunction with the mechanism for raising the lifting bucket and moving the panel settlement.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example and schematically, some embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of a first embodiment
Fig. 2 shows a detail variant
Fig. 3 shows the arrangement of the loading and settling mechanisms in a single assembly. FIGS. 4 and 5 are detail sections of a variant
Figs 6: and 1 show in perspective various discharge modes in the loading bucket
Figs. 8 and 9 show two variants of the devices allowing the filling of the loading bucket.
Figs. 10 and 11 show in two different positions an automatic door control device.
The bucket shown in fig. 1 includes a box 1 in which to load, the rear panel 2 being provided with the loading opening 3. Panel 4 closes the box and all of panels 2 and 4 constitute the loading door which opens by tilting around the axis 5. The loading bucket 6 is guided laterally by rollers 7 in grooves 8.
At the end of the ascent, this bucket tilts around the axis 5 and pours into a hopper 9 in which a panel 10 can move longitudinally, subjected to the action of jacks II preferably placed laterally on either side of the body 1. Preferably, the axis 5 coincides here with the tilting axis of the panel 3-4 of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
so that when opening, the bucket 6 being raised, the center of gravity of this bucket is very close to this axis of rotation which facilitates the opening of the panel.
According to the invention, the upward movement of the bucket 6 is controlled by a jack, itself controlled by the following mechanism: this or these jacks are connected on one side, or on either side of the body 1, by lever 13, to a link of a chain 14 wound on two pinions 15 and 16; the pinion 15 rotates around the axis 16 and the pinion 16 is keyed on the pivot axis 5. The two axes 17 and 5 are in the same horizontal plane, so that the two strands of the chain describe a parallel stroke - lele to the jack.
On the axis 5 is further keyed a chain sprocket 18 on which is wound an endless chain 19, the two strands of which, after having been returned to the rollers 20 and 21, move parallel to the panels 2 and 4, one of the strands passing through the guide chain 8. The guide rollers 7 of the bucket are also attached to two chain links 19. The ratio of the diameters of the pinions 16 and 18 is determined as a function of the amplitude relative of the longitudinal displacements printed on chains 14 and 19.
In the variant of FIG. 2, the pinion 16 is mounted on an axis 22 separate from the axis 5 of the pinion 18. The connection between the two controls is then effected by means of any appropriate mechanism such as an endless chain 23, winding on two pinions 24 and 25, keyed respectively on the axes 22 and 5.

is at the bottom. The return movement of the jacks to the right causes, by means of the levers 13 and the chain 14, the rotation of the axis 5 and the pinion 18, and consequently the movements of the chain 19 in the direction of the arrow. The bucket 6 attached to this chain follows this movement, and begins by rising in the corridor 2-4 to tilt at the end of the stroke around the axis 5 and to discharge into the hopper 9 at the precise moment when the shield 18 having returned himself at the end of the race, cleared this hopper.
The push-back movement of the shield under the action of the jacks 11 determines a reverse movement of the bucket, that is to say the descent of the latter as far as the position shown in ixte lines @.
It will be observed that the jacks 11 can also aotio ner at the end of collection and according to the same principle, the opening and the raising of the rear door.
In the devices which have just been described, the box 2 forming the box unloading door, pivots around the axis 5 of the pinion @ 18. It follows that even when this door is open, part of the this is hidden by the panel 10 and its loading mechanism.
In the vatiante of fig. 3 on the contrary, the whole assembly formed by the door 2 and the hopper 9 in which the packing panel moves, constitutes a single enshile mounted to pivot about an axis 27, provided on the upper part of the body. As a result, when this assembly is opened, the rear of the body is completely clear, which allows easy and rapid unloading, whatever the degree of compaction of the materials.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
On the other hand, all this mechanism being housed in a single assembly can be easily disassembled for repair and replaced by an identical assembly which reduces the risks of immobilization of the vehicles.
It will also be observed that in the device of FIG. 2, the door 2 and the loading mechanism q @ 'it contains are tilted to the vertical, which distributes the loads better and facilitates the tipping of the box, at the same time as the material drop point is found forward in relation to the rear of the body, which favors the distribution of materials at the start of loading.
To facilitate replacement, the connection of the assembly 2-9 relative to the hinge pin 27 is preferably effected by means of a frame 28 integral with this assembly and coming to be removably assembled with the articulated part 29 of the hinge.
Thanks to this arrangement, disassembly can be done without touching the articulation pins, the suppressor joints, or the transmission shafts of the lifting, settling and distribution mechanism.
In some cases, moreover, the removable part of the body with the rear door and the hopper 9 may also include the entire upper part 30 of the body; this part being removed from the vehicle, all that would remain on the truck would be a nice customary type of public works.
Figs. 4 and 5 show various secondary devices for facilitating the functions of the stacking panel for filling the crate. The control jack 11 of the panel 10 can for this purpose, pivot around the axis 31, as shown in phantom lines at 10 ', 10 "the lower panel of the hopper will then tilt (itself around the axis 32 .
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
This tilt adjustment can take place before loading, or even during filling by any appropriate control means.
The hopper bottom 9a can also be foldable separately around the axis 32, and its length can be adjustable, as shown in fig. 5, its end 9b itself being able to be articulated relative to the general plane of the hopper bottom.
Likewise, the ends 10a of the panel 10 can be inclined with respect to the whole of the panel (fig.4) so as to facilitate the discharge of certain materials.
In some cases, the hopper bottom can be completely eliminated, the settling panel only acting when the level of the discharged material has reached the lower edge of this panel; one can also provide a folding panel 33 articulated, either on the bottom of the bucket at 34, or on the door at 35 to allow a more rational distribution.
To facilitate the loading of certain materials with a tendency to overflow, such as straw, it may be advantageous to provide, behind or near the weaving mechanism, retaining members constituted for example by the articulated valves 36 offering themselves to allow- be the passage of the discharge container and closing immediately when this container has moved back, so as to keep the materials in the settling hopper, avoiding clogging of the discharge chamber.
Similar devices could moreover be provided at the outlet of this packing hopper.
The actual loading device, that is to say the discharge of materials into the bucket 6 in the lower position, can be arranged in many ways.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
In the device of FIG. 3, there are provided in the box 2, three doors, a rear 37 and two side 38, so as to allow loading from three sides, while ensuring the closure outside periods of settlement. To this end, (fig. 10 and II) these doors are controlled by a funicular device 63 controlled by the bucket 6 itself.
In the device of FIG. 6, on the contrary, the loading bucket is entirely external, so as to allow its access from all sides.
In the case of loading by means of collecting containers, a change door 39 can be provided with orifices 40 intended to adapt to standardized lidded bins, the hopper 41 to which this door 39 can be adapted. being provided with a device allowing the attachment of the boxes, opposite the orifices 40 with which it is fitted, these orifices are preferably closed by valves, the opening operation of which is automatically controlled by a maneuver for hooking up the boxes, the operation of these valves themselves actuating the locking device of the lifting mechanism and of the settling mechanism.
In the mechanism of fig. 8, the loading bucket (which preferably comprises rollers 42 making it possible to bring it autonomously from the collection point to the bucket) is preferably coupled movably by means of pins 43 with a pair lever, movable by pins 43 with a pair of levers 44 pivoting themselves about an axis integral with the body.
It is clearly seen from the drawings that a rotation of this lever by an amplitude [alpha] would bring the bucket 6 above the tamper panel 10. To ensure at the same time the tilting of this bucket, provision will be made on it. these rollers 46 guided in rails 47, holding the bucket in
EMI8.1
A substantially vertical position during its elevation and
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
ensuring its pivoting around its journal 43.
The guide 47 can moreover be interrupted as shown in the drawings, before the end of the tilting, since from this moment, its tilting is ensured by the stop of the edge of the bucket against a fixed journal 48.
This connection mechanism between the tamper panel subjected to the action of a jack 11 and the lever 44, can be provided as in the main patent by a funicular system consisting of a chain 19 fixed on the one hand at 43 on a bucket. 6, and on the other hand at a fixed point 49 and passing over the pinion integral with the panel 10 and over two fixed pinions 51 and 52.
It can be seen immediately from the drawings that the backward movement of panel 10 will determine the rise of the bucket and vice versa.
In the example of FIG. 9, the system further comprises the usual bucket 6, a collection bucket 53 articulated at 54 qurune pair of levers 55 themselves articulated at a fixed point 56 of the body of the bucket.
As can be seen clearly in the drawings, the loading will take place in the bucket 53 which will itself flow into the bucket 6 connected to the cylinder mechanism by the mechanism shown in fig.l. The control of this collection bucket 53 is itself linked to the general control, for example by a funicular mechanism, consisting of a chain 57 fixed on the one hand at 54, on the other hand at a fixed point 58 and passing over two pinions 59 and 60, one of which is integral with the bucket 6 and the other is fixed to the frame. In the rest position, shown in solid lines, the chain will go from the fixed point 42 to the fixed point 38 by supporting the pinion 6D.
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
When on the other hand the bucket 6 goes down, its pinion meeting the chain 57, will determine the rise of the bucket 53 and the pivoting of the lever 55 around its axis, 56 ,, The overturning movement will be ensured by the stop d of the brackets & I against the edge of the opening 3 in the rear panel. 2 of the skip.
It can therefore be clearly seen that, as before, the entire mechanism is controlled from the jack 11. On the other hand, it can be seen that the collection container 53 tries to be provided at a very short distance from the ground, and prevents the roadmenders from raising the load. loads collected by shovel.
In addition, since it is in the low position (position in phantom lines! While the upper bucket 6 is lifting, it also makes it possible to avoid any loss of time during the maneuver of the latter container.
