 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Figure 1 est une vue à plat de l'ébauche d'une botte en car- ton à fermeture inviolable conforme à l'invention ;
Figures 2, 3 et 4 montrent en perspeotive trois phases successives de l'opération de fermeture ;
Figure 5 est une vue de détail, à échelle agrandie, en coupe verticale suivant   AA,   de la botte fermée ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  "Tamper-evident closure for folding oarton boots, and similar packages".

   The invention provides for folding cartons, or other materials, and similar packages, commonly used as packaging for various products, such as food products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cleaning products, perfumery, etc. which generally have a parallelepiped shape with a rectangular or square base.

   Its purpose is to achieve an inviolable closure of boots of this kind so as to prevent the removal or even the fraudulent replacement of their content, and this without requiring the use of any material or labor for the affixing of additional means, as is currently the case for boots whose closure is completed by means of metal clips, or even by gluing.

   The object of the invention is, to this end, a tamper-evident closure device characterized in principle, in that one of the folding tabs, or flaps, forming the closure is

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 provided with one (or more) expandable locking member and is combined with an opening provided at the bottom of a fold placed inside the box, said locking member being formed in such a way that it is can reduce the bulk so that it passes through the aforesaid opening and that, once the opening has been passed, the locking member, then located inside the boot, deploys by itself so that it cannot pass through the opening again in the opposite direction.

   According to one embodiment of the invention, one of the flaps of the folding cardboard boot is extended by a tab constituting the expandable locking member and the opposite flap is formed so that it can be folded up by - entirely inside the boot and to have a slit at the bottom of the fold thus formed, the locking tongue being provided with foldable side wings, which are folded down and flattened, preferably in the shape of an 8, to make pass the tongue through the slot, said wings then deploying by themselves, owing to the elasticity of the cardboard, once the opening has been passed.

   The invention will moreover be better understood thanks to the description which follows of the embodiment, the principle of which is stated above and which is sohematically represented, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings, in which ones
Figure 1 is a plan view of the blank of a cardboard boot with tamper-evident closure according to the invention;
Figures 2, 3 and 4 show in perspective three successive phases of the closing operation;
Figure 5 is a detail view, on an enlarged scale, in vertical section along AA, of the closed boot;

Fig. 6 is a top plan view showing a boot, the underside of which is assumed to be closed while the upper faoe is open, the flaps being folded laterally into

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 a horizontal plane; and
Figure 7 is a perspective view of a fully closed boot. 1 In 'these figures, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the longitudinal fold lines, or edge lines, delimiting the lateral faoes, or sides, 5, 6,7 and 8 which are placed in parallel two by two when the boot is formed; 9 is the part that is glued on the side 8 to form the boot; 10, 11, 12 and 13 are the closing tabs or flaps pivoting around the horizontal fold lines 14, 15, 16 and 17 respectively.

   According to the invention, the flap 12 is provided with a locking member constituted by a tongue 18 extending the end part 12a which is foldable around the line 19 and which is inserted inside the boot.

   On the other hand, the opposite flap 10 has an additional length provided with two fold lines 20 and 21, as well as a slot 22 along the fold line 21.

   The tongue 18 constituting the locking member has two wings 18a and 18b which can be folded around lines 23 and 24 respectively. The dimensions of the slot 22, as well as of the locking tongue 18, are such that the latter cannot pass through. through the slit only when the wings 18a and 18b are folded and flattened against the central part 18.

   It will therefore be easy to understand how, in practice, such a device is used, and how oelui-oi ensures the inviolability of the closure, without requiring any additional stapling or gluing,, By first referring. Figure 2, we see that, the boot being supposed to be rolled on its part 9, we first form, with the flap 10, a fold 25 that we have inside the boot by folding, for this purpose, the oarton along lines 14 and 21.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The flaps 11 and 13 are then folded around the fold lines 15 and 17 respectively, then the flap 10 is brought onto the previous ones by pivoting around the line 20 (FIG. 3).

  The wings 18a and 18b of the tongue 18 are then folded back along lines 23 and 24 and they are placed flat against the middle part 18 on either side of this middle part, respectively, so that the locking tab has then substantially the shape of a flattened S.

   We can therefore fold the flap 12 around the line 16 and the part 12a around the line 19 and engage the tongue 18, flattened as indicated in the slot 22 of the fold 25 and, by a pressure exerted on the flap 12, make it pass through the slot 22, the walls of said fold then guiding the tongue and keeping its folded wings tight.

   Once the tongue 18 is inside the boot, its wings 18a and 18b deploy themselves more or less, but still enough to prevent that one can, by lifting the flap 12 , bring out the tongue 18, given that its wings 18a and 18b oppose it passing through the slot 22 again (Fig. 4, 5 and 6),
By examining Figure 7 we realize that the appearance of the boot is not influenced by the presence of additional organs ensuring inviolability,
It is understood that it is possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to imagine numerous variants as well as improvements in details.

   Thus, the shape of the tongue 18 can be modified and affect, for example, that of a harpoon; it can come from manufacture with the flap 12 or be added, be made of the same material, or of a different material, be made of one or more pieces, eto ...

   In another vein, the flap 10 can be folded down, no longer above the flaps 11 and 13, but above

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 under oeux-oi in order to give the boot a greater seal.

   R E 8 U M E
The subject of the invention is a tamper-proof closure for folding boots made of cardboard, or other materials, and similar packages, said closure being characterized, in principle, in that one of the folding flaps, or flaps, forming the closure is provided with 'one (or more) expandable locking member and is combined with an opening provided at the bottom of a fold arranged inside the box, said locking member being constructed in such a way that it can be reduced.
