<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<tb>
<tb> Colophane <SEP> 100 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Soufre <SEP> 20 <SEP> gr.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EXEMPLE 1
On met dans un récipient
EMI3.1
<tb>
<tb> Colophane <SEP> 100 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Soufre <SEP> 20 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Essence <SEP> de <SEP> térébenthine <SEP> 50 <SEP> gr.
<tb>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"PROCESS AND PRODUCT FOR THE TREATMENT OF RUBBER, IN PARTICULAR REGENERATION OF RUBBER WASTE"
The present invention relates to a process and a product for the processing of rubber, the regeneration and the direct use of vulcanized rubber waste and old rubbers.
According to the invention the vulcanized waste rubber and old rubbers are regenerated directly on the roller mixer or in the mixer, i.e. sufficient plasticity and nervousness can be achieved. made with vulcanized rubber to allow printing into sheets or strands by addition, in suitable proportions (5 to 10%) of the product according to the invention.
Molding and vulcanization mixes as well. prepared are carried out under the same conditions as those of /
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
common mixtures based on pure gums (pancakes or smoked leaves) and the mechanical characteristics obtained are at least equal (very often superior) to those of the rubbers from which the waste comes; on the other hand, the resistance to aging is perfect.
These mixtures based on a single waste base are miscible in all proportions with current mixtures based on new gum, which has the advantages of increasing the strength and plasticity of the drawn sheet or of the strand before vulcanization.
The products used for the regeneration described above are sulfur addition compounds of the terpenes C10H16, C15H24, etc. contained in vegetable resins, mainly those of the Terebenthaceae family, the most important constituent of which is pinene C10H16.
Practically and under the best economic conditions, these more or less polymerized sulfur addition products are obtained without any catalysis by the direct action of sulfur on a mixture of rosin and turpentine at a temperature close to 165 C.
The relative proportions of these three bodies having to enter into reaction can be essentially variable according to the quality of the rubber waste to be regenerated and according to the finished product to be obtained but in general the best results are obtained with the following proportions:
EMI2.1

<tb> Rosin <SEP> 100 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Sulfur <SEP> 20 <SEP> gr.

Here is an example of preparation of the regenerating product according to the invention.
EXAMPLE 1
We put in a container
EMI3.1

<tb> Rosin <SEP> 100 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Sulfur <SEP> 20 <SEP> gr.
<tb> Essence <SEP> of <SEP> turpentine <SEP> 50 <SEP> gr.

this vessel being in communication with the atmosphere by a reflux system and heating to 165 until complete reaction, which requires about 15 to 20 minutes. Allowed to cool and the product then takes at room temperature a gelatinous, viscous and adherent consistency.
For use, this product is heated to about 40 to 50 so as to ensure it a fluidity equivalent to that of ordinary mineral oil and it is mixed, in the proportions indicated above, with the rubber to be regenerated, with the crumb state, which is then treated in the usual way (mixer and vulcanization). All other additions common in the rubber industry, such as plasticizers, accelerators, anti-oxygen, etc. can be made at this stage of manufacture. For example, to make ebonite, the desired proportion of sulfur is added.
EXAMPLE 2
100 g of rosin and 20 g of sulfur are reacted in an open container as in Example 1. The product obtained is dissolved in 50 g of turpentine at the boil, and the procedure is then carried out as above.
We could also, in some cases, react the three constituents: sulfur and gasoline

of turpentine during the actual vulcanization operation.
The product according to the invention can also be used in the manufacture of agglomerates, and in particular rubber-based agglomerates.
The invention has been described for explanatory purposes only and it goes without saying that various modifications could be made to it, without deviating from its spirit for this.
