<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

One-to-one token dispensing mechanism.
The present invention relates to dispensing devices, intended to be placed in places or premises accessible to the public, and which, by inserting a specific coin, allow the movement of a handle or the like. operating unit which acts on a dispensing mechanism, the user receiving, by this operation, a token of conventional value which entitles him to a specific object (chocolate stick, candy, etc.). These devices are mainly intended to force the sale, and in fact constitute means of sale, the buyers always receiving an object whose market value is substantially equal to the value of the coin introduced, while some of the tokens give right to higher valuables, which constitute bonuses.
From the point of view of regulations on games of chance, these devices are however open to criticism, the buyer never being able to know in advance what he is going to buy. It is quite different when, in accordance with the invention, the token that goes
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
dispensing the device - and this only - is visible from the outside, so that the buyer can, before entering @, take out his coin, see, by the color or the inscriptions of this token, what it will receive.
The interest, from the point of view of sale, is not reduced, because if the buyer knows in advance the value of the token that he will receive, he ignores that of the next token, which he will not know until after have withdrawn the visible token; if this next token is a bounty token, the buyer will obviously be tempted, and will introduce a new coin. If he does not do so, the bonus token, remaining visible, will be quickly withdrawn by another consumer.
The subject of the invention is therefore a one-to-one token dispensing mechanism which, on each delivery maneuver, causes, under a viewfinder, the token to be delivered at the next maneuver, said mechanism being mounted in a prepayment device. More particularly, the invention relates to a simple embodiment of said dispensing mechanism, which will be described below in detail, with reference to the accompanying drawing by way of example and in which: FIG. 1 is a side elevational view of the complete device, the lower part being cut along the axis, fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the apparatus according to II-II of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is an elevational view of the locking mechanism.
The apparatus takes the form of a vertical column 1, for example cylindrical, carried by a wider base 2, The column is closed at the top by a removable cover 3 for the refill in jets; the closure of the cover may include a safety device. Upwards, column 1 has a slot 4 for the introduction of coins, a push button 5 for forcing the coin to pass to a testing mechanism 6 which, if the coin is not
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
incorrect, rejects it towards exit 7, while it passes it to the infeed channel 8 otherwise. The parts or mechanisms 4-5-6-7 and 8 are of any known type and therefore need not be described in more detail.
The coin falling into the channel 8, slides therein and arrives at the locking mechanism housed in the base 2 of the device. This locking mechanism is an integral part of the dispensing mechanism.
The base 2 has the shape of a box, the lid of which, fixed, supports the column 1. This boot, which receives the dispensing mechanism, serves at the same time as a receptacle for the coins, and at least one of its side walls. can be opened to allow the attendant to periodically remove the recipe, Inside column 1, the upper wall of the base carries a vertical tube 9, open at both ends, and in which chips 10 are stacked These tokens each correspond to a determined value indicated for example by the color or in any other way. This upper wall of the base is perforated in line with this tube, and the tokens are supported, under this wall, by a fixed blade 11.
The latter is held in a horizontal slide 12 fixed by its edges under said upper wall, this slide extending beyond the base 2, along a projecting part 13. Between the fixed blade 11 and the upper wall, is arranged a movable blade 14, and between the blade 11 and the bottom of the slide 12 is mounted another movable blade 15; the two movable blades 14 and 15 can be moved together, in the slide, as will be shown.
Behind the fixed plate 11, the two movable blades 14 and 15 are joined together by a tongue 16, of the same thickness as 11, and which, by its meeting with the rear edge of 11, limits the forward movement (outward movement} of blades' 14 and 15. The lower blade 15 carries, internally, an arm or lever 17, of which the screws of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
attachment 18 to the blade 15 pass through a slot 19 made in the bottom of the slide 12. This lever 17 extends through the vertical side wall 20 of the base 2, provided for this purpose with a horizontal slot 21 (fig. 2).
In box 2, it carries a horizontal latch 22 (fig.3) in the notch 23 of which, by its own weight, engages the spout 24 of a locking pawl 25 pivoting at 26. On a vertical face, the latch carries a notch 27 whose width corresponds to the diameter of the coin to be inserted and, opposite this notch, a fixed vertical wall 28 is provided, fixed to the bottom of the base 2.
This wall 28 is narrower than the notch 27 and, under the lock, it carries a horizontal projection 29; the notch 27, the wall 28 and the projection 29 form a vertical housing, open at the top, in which the coin 30, coming from the channel 8 falls exactly after having passed through a corresponding slot in the upper wall of 2 ( funnel 31 in fig. 3). If, without prior insertion of a coin, one seeks to move the lever in the direction of the arrow in fig. 2, this movement is rapidly prevented by the engagement of the spout 24 and the notch 23. .
If, on the contrary, a coin 30 has been brought into position, the latter, during the slight movement allowed to the latch before the attack of the pawl 25, rolls on the projection 29 and comes by its edge to engage under the beveled edge 32 of a tooth 33 fixed to the latch 25 (Fig. 3 shows the parts at rest, and we see that the latch can perform a slight movement to the left, before being blocked by the corbel) . As a result, the crow rises and allows the lock to continue moving up to the exit limit. The part 50 leaves at a given moment the projection 29 and then falls into the body 2, the corbel 25 falling back on the latch and entering the notch 23 when the latch returns under the action of a strong spring 34 .
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The movable upper blade 14 is pierced with a hole 35, corresponding exactly to the diameter of a chip 10; the thickness of this blade is equal to that of a token. When the locking mechanism is in the rest position shown, the lowest token is therefore lodged in this hole.
35 and rests on the fixed blade 11.
On the other hand, said fixed blade extends outside the circumference delimited by the column.1 on the base 2, and this projecting part of the fixed blade, as well as the projecting part 13 of the. fixed slide 12, is covered with an opaque material (preferably metal) 36, with the exception of a small circle 37, covered with a transparent material (glass) and which covers a hole 38 formed in the protruding part of the fixed plate 11. This hole has the diameter of a token. Under this hole, and in the rest position, the movable blade 15 has an identical hole 39, and, in its projecting part 13, the slide base 12 has the same hole 40.
Suppose a device to be recharged with tokens. The cover 3 is removed and a determined quantity of tokens is stacked in the tube 9, alternating the value of these tokens as desired.
The cover being closed, a coin is introduced and the lever 17 is operated. The lower token, brought as has been said into the hole 35 and resting on the fixed blade
11 is, by this maneuver, brought with the movable blade 14, above the hole 38, the travel allowed the latch 22 being calculated accordingly and being stopped (by the tongue 16 or by any other stop) when the two holes 35 - 38 are exactly superimposed, the axial distances between holes 35-
38 and holes 38 - 40 being exactly equal. The chip therefore falls into the hole 38, and is momentarily supported by the solid part of the blade 15.
When the blades 14 and 15 return to their rest position, the hole 39 being placed under the hole 38, the token-located in / the latter falls into the hole 39
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
where it is supported by the bottom 'of the slide 12. In this position, the chip is visible' through the bezel 37 @ and the apparatus is ready for operation. The first user, seeing the token in the bezel 37, and thus knowing what object he can obtain, since it is this token which will be debited in the first place, introduces his coin and operates the device.
The operations described above are reproduced identically for the lower token of the stack located in the tube, this token finally being placed under the bezel 37; as for the token currently visible at 37, it has been brought by the movable blade 15 above the hole 40, through which it passes to be received on a plate 41. to facilitate the operation of the lever 17, a handle can be provided fixed 42; the two parts 17 and 42 are grasped with the same hand, and 17 is easily brought closer to the fixed part 42.
CLAIMS.
1. Mechanism for dispensing tokens one by one, with automatic engagement or unlocking under the action of a coin, characterized in that the operating lever, the complete movement of which is only permitted with prepayment, moves in rectilinear motion a set of horizontal blades, combined with fixed horizontal blades, in such a way that the lower token of a stack of reserve tokens is brought into the field of a sight from which it is visible from the outside, while the token which was in the field of this viewfinder is expelled from the camera.
