Entin, la machine peut recevoir aisément diverses modifica- tions lui permettant 'L'exécution de travaux les plus divers. routes ces particularités seront mises en évidence et l'inven- tion sera mieux comprise au cours de la description suivante et en se référant au dessin annexe qui montre: fig.l, une vue en coupe de la machine, suivant la ligne 1-1 de la figure 3; fig.2, la machine vue de derrière; fig.3, la machine vue en plan: i'ig.4, une coupe suivant la ligne 4-4 de la figure 2; fig.5, une coupe suivant la ligne à-6 de la figure 3;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Planing, grinding and polishing machine
The present invention relates to a straightening, grinding and polishing manine offering possibilities of accuracy and working facilities far superior to all existing machines.
One of the main characteristics of said machine resides in that the disc forming part of the worktable and occupying the interior of the tubular grinding wheel, forms a body with the main part of the table, which eliminates the need for usi - very complex swimming of the separate parts which hitherto held the aforesaid disc in the existing machines.
Another characteristic of the table is that it is angular in shape, that is to say that it is formed by two planes at right angles, which allows to extend, above the main plane work the two windows necessary for the passage of the tubular grinders in the vertical part of the table, if one wants that these exceed by a determined quantity the plane of the work table. This peculiarity allows easy grinding, not only of flat surfaces which come to rest directly on the table but also the grinding of flat surfaces.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
being, set back from those who come to lean on the table.
The table has yet another feature, that it is hinged to the frame and thus allows easy wheel set-up without having to unlock or unblock any part of the machine.
The table is also provided with a very important improvement. Which consists in that it is provided with a part whose plane, parallel to that of the whole of the horizontal part of the table, can be offset by a few milLimeters or hundredths of a millimeter, at will, in order to prevent overhangs of parts resting on the grinding wheel. This offset is obtained by means of a robust and precise screw device.
In addition, the machine is mounted on a foot allowing the worktable to be placed so that the axis of gyration of the. grinding wheel is sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal and more generally in any intermediate position between these two working positions to give the worker great ease of work.
Finally, the machine can easily receive various modifications allowing it to perform a wide variety of jobs. roads these peculiarities will be highlighted and the invention will be better understood in the course of the following description and with reference to the appended drawing which shows: fig.l, a sectional view of the machine, along line 1-1 of Figure 3; fig.2, the machine seen from behind; fig.3, the machine seen in plan: i'ig.4, a section along line 4-4 of figure 2; fig.5, a section along the line to-6 of Figure 3;

The machine consists essentially of a table, the main part 1 of which is articulated in 2 on the frame 3 of the machine

Zf'ig. 19 and 3).
Said frame has on its rear part, a boss capable of rotating in a bearing 5, in the form of a crescent, formed in a foot 6 carrying the whole.
EMI3.4
Bo ulons 7 allow the frame to be attached to the foot 6.
The frame 3 comprises a cylindrical part in which can slide a tubular core 8 in which is fixed the central shaft 9. (this fixing is obtained by means of ball bearings 10 and a ball thrust 11.
EMI3.5
on the shaft 9 is wedged a toothed pulley, normally :. î &.
On the said tree can be fixed by any means the pla? ' 13 bearing the grinding wheel 14. The method of attaching the plate to the shaft 9 shown in the drawing consists of using a tuorse io with a flat at its thinnest end and similar to that commonly used for nelicoldaux idaets.
The core and .Marble central 9 can be raised or lowered at will by means of any suitable device which therefore makes it possible to vary the height position of the wheel by

compared to the Lable to compensate for the wear of the grinding wheel or
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the importance of the Nasse. In figures 1 and 2 this device is constituted by a toothed pinion 16 controlled by a flywheel 17 and acting on a rack 18 realistically on the core 8.
The grinding wheel 14 is more generally tubular and can be flush with the top of the table 1, or even exceed it, thanks to the special arrangement of said plate * This is made up of two nieces forming three distinct parts 1a; 1b, 1c (fig. 3 and 6).
The central part 1a and 1b, are integral with the main part 1 of the table. a par.rtie of the grinding wheel 14 is housed under the main part so as to allow the vertical wall 1d to retain the part 1a in the center of the grinding wheel (fig.6).
As the latter can be raised or lowered, part 1d of the. table is pierced with two windows delivering it, if necessary, passage to the grinding wheel.
Part 1c is not integral with the main part 1 but can on the contrary move vertically with respect to the latter. It forms a body, for this purpose, with a square part 1f housed in the main part 1 and sliding against the front wall thereof (fig. 5 and 6). The movement of part 1c is obtained by means of a screw 19 engaging a practical threaded hole in part 1f. Two guide pins 20 enter smooth holes in the part 1f, in order to ensure that the latter moves vertically. Finally, to keep part 1c absolutely square and fixed, part 1f is glued against the front wall of part 1 by a pressure screw 21.
When the axis of the grinding wheel is not vertical, the table 1 with its mobile part is held on the frame 3, by means of a Tenon 22 traversed by a screw 23.
We therefore see that the part can, as shown in the. FIG. 6 be offset with respect to the fixed parts 1a and IL) and this to avoid any tilting of the workpiece by means of an appropriate adjustment of this offset reaching in practice a few tenths of a millimeter. It is thus possible to obtain real flat surfaces and real passes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Marble 9 is driven by a rotational movement by means of a belt 24 passing over the. pulley 12 (fig. 1, 2 and 4). To provide passage to said belt, the core 8 is drilled with a window 35 and the frame with a window 26 large enough to allow the belt to pass in the most nautical position of the grinding wheel.
The machine is completed by an aspira.tion @ dust device consisting of a casing in volute 27 integral with @ core 6 and in which rotate blades 28 fixed to the hub of the plate 13. The dust sucked through the hole 13a pierces in said plate are projected out of the housing 7 by a chute 29 (fig.3).
The machine thus designed therefore allows, for more convenient non-execution of certain work to obtain its positioning at 90 retort as shown. Figure 7 or a raised position of the. grinding wheel as in Figure 8 to work on a recessed surface of a part p resting on the. table.
The articulation of the main part 1 on the frame allows the three parts of the table to be lifted simultaneously and thus completely free the grinding wheel and its support in order to change the grinding wheel without difficulty and without having to unlock it. or disturb anything in the arrangement of the machine. it is obvious that the grinding wheel 14 can be fixed on the plate 13 by sealing or by a washer screwed on the plate shown in Figure 1; but it can also be fixed by one of these means on a plate 13 carried directly by a ce.eu tree 9 'like the one shown in figure 9.
This shaft is carried by means of ball bearings 10 'and a stop 11' by a pin 30 screwed onto a core 7 'which itself screws into a bearing surface 31 fixed in the frame 3 of the. machine.
The pulley 12 is carried directly by the hollow shaft 9 '.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The core 7 'can, by means of a flywheel 17-' be moved in the longitudinal ser of the axis of gyration by screwing it or unscrewing it in the bead 31 in order to compensate for the wear of the grinding wheel or to determine the importance of. going to take.
The plate 13 can also be arranged so that the tubular grinding wheel 14 can be tacitly replaced by a solid grinding wheel 14 '(fig.lC). It is possible in this case, after having removed the table 1 from the machine, to replace it with two frames 32 and 33 (fig.ll) coordinated slides. One can thus, thanks to the movements of said frames, finish with a grinding wheel the die cutting tools 34 or carry out all kinds of similar work.
With a 14 '' solid grinding wheel (fig.12) the machine still allows the grinding of edges of any shape, at right angles or, moldings, both for metal parts, as for parts or objects in all materials.
By using a large table 35 (Figures 13 and 14), in the circular or rectangular shape and provided with a central pivot or a rectilinear movement, a semi-automatic or fully automatic machine can be formed for the. grinding of foundry frame frames or similar parts.
Finally, the control of the central shaft 9 or 9 'of the machine can be obtained directly or otherwise by means of an electric motor.
In the case. where the dimensions of the. machine are quite restricted the motor-grinding wheel assembly can be made removable in order to be able to use it for the grinding of difficult parts.
In this case, said assembly is provided with an operating handle 36 (FIG. 15).
