Fig.l est une coupe longitudinale de l'appareil;
Fig.2 est un plan de celui-ci et
Fig.3, une élévation antérieure vue en coupe.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for the manufacture of clothespins.
The present invention relates to a device for manufacturing clothes pegs, in which one of the branches is provided with a convexity on the inside and the other with a concavity. The formation of the slit in the wood of the clamp and the convexity and concavity in its branches is carried out in one turn. For this, the wood clamp is brought into a drum rotating intermittently, during which the wood of the clamp passes next to a cutter disposed eccentrically to the axis of the drum, and which digs the slot in the wood of this clamp forms the convexity of one of its branches and the concavity of the other.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the object of the invention is shown by way of example. To this drawing:
Fig.l is a longitudinal section of the device;
Fig. 2 is a plan of it and
Fig. 3, an anterior elevation seen in section.
The wooden branches a clamps, one of which is provided inside with a convexity b and the other with a concavity c (fig. 3) are introduced into a drum d, in which, eccentrically at the axis e of this drum, two pads f, f 'are arranged to receive the wood clamps, which are led
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
during the rotation of the drum to pass next to a rotary conical cutter ± arranged above the axis of the drum, which cutter has the shape of the slot which must be dug in the wood of the clamp and which is provided with straight or spiral cutting edges, so that, during the passage of the wood of the clamp, it not only forms the slot in it, but at the same time mills the convexity b in one of the branches and the concavity c in the other .
To avoid its vibration during the operation of the cutter, the drum d is supported by a bearing h of suitable construction (fig.l). In the construction shown, a toothed wheel i is fixed to the drum d and meshes with a toothed wheel i 'of the same size (fig. 3), which is provided with teeth only on half of the circumference, so that for each revolution of the toothed wheel i 'the drum only makes half a turn; after which it remains stationary until the teeth of wheel i 'mesh again with ring gear i.
While stopping the drum d, the finished clamp a 'is pushed out of the shoe 1 and a new wood is pushed on the shoe f' in the direction of the arrows in fig.2. The introduction of wood a, which are piled up and led one by one to the drum d (fig.l), is preferably done by the device shown in fig. 2, which can however be replaced by any other suitable device. This device consists of a pusher 1 for the introduction of the wood from the gripper onto one of the pads f, f 'of the drum d and a pusher' j 'for the expulsion of the finished grippers. The two pushers are guided by the rods k, k 'which are under the influence of the springs l, l' under tension. Below the rods k, k ', are fixed racks m, m', with which the toothed wheels n, n 'mesh which are provided with teeth only on half of the circumference.
As soon as the teeth mesh with the racks m, m ', the pushers j, j' are advanced in the direction of the arrows and the springs l, l 'are stretched to bring the rods k, k' back to their initial position. with the pushers j, j 'as soon as the toothed part of the wheels n, n' releases the racks m, m '. Shock
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
return of the rods k, k 'can be damped by damping springs. The rods k, k' are directed by the supports o, o 'while the pushers 1,, Il are directed by the supports e' of the drum shaft.
Clamp timbers can also be driven in a straight line alongside the g cutter, while an eccentric cutter which rotates around an axis works the clamps. The entry and exit of the timber can also be effected in a manner other than that shown and described, for example by means of eccentric or curved discs, which control the entry and exit rods.
Claw wood feeding can also be in the form of long sticks, from which the finished claws are sliced.
