tank in question is removed and the excess water is sent directly to. suction vessel arranged on the inlet pipe of the cold water pump (this vessel is then fitted with a vent pipe).
According to another arrangement, the excess water is sent directly into one of the suction chambers of the double-acting cold water pump, the other suction chamber then being supplied exclusively with water. cold water from the oid water source,
This latter solution has significant advantages which will appear in the description below.
These arrangements have been shown by way of example in the appended drawing, in which:
Fig. l is an overall diagram of the installation;
Fig 2 is a larger scale cross section of the balanced valve.
Fig. 3 is a cut to. large scale showing a variant of the invention.
Fig. 4 is a diagram of this variant.
Fig. 1 shows an installation similar to that shown in. FIG. 4 of the aforementioned patent N 353816.
Only the left part is modified, and this as follows:
At the bottom of the distribution chamber 81 opens a tube for evacuating the excess water, having at its lower part a small cylinder 4 in which a piston 5, forming a valve, and of weight can move. determined.
On the side of the. cylinder opens a pipe 6 making this cylinder communicate with a suction vessel 70, in communication with the atmosphere by a tube 80 of the appropriate height. The suction vessel 70 is interposed between the pipe 71 coming from the cold water tank (tender) and the suction pipe 31 of the circulation pump 24. @ the upper part of the cylinder 4 @ a pipe 3a opens up.

steadily between the valve 5 and the wall of the cylinder 4; (the impure water coming from the tender rises in fact above the valve due to the static charge, This impure water, reheated when the chamber 81 and the pipe. 3a fill again with steam, leaves a deposit scale which may block the bleed hole 75.
To avoid this drawback, the jacket 77 in which the valve 5 slides has a circular groove 78 in communication with the atmosphere through an orifice 79 of large section. In this way, the water that tends to. rising above the closed regulator valve is discharged directly through port 79.
The valve system and the pipe purge system 3a described above could be replaced by any of the devices described in the above-mentioned N patent.
Figures 3 and 4 show another variant of the device described in patent N 353816. In this construction, the tube 2 (Figure 1) which comes 'from the overflow compartment' 29 of the distribution chamber opens at the base of the cylinder 4 of the balanced valve 5, the upper face of which is subjected to the pressure of the vapor, thanks to the tube 3a, as before. The cylinder 4 carries a pipe 80 opening into an annular groove 81 of the cylinder on the one hand and in the bottom of the cold water pump.
24, on the other hand, a check valve 88 being arranged in this tubing to prevent the flow of water towards the cylinder 4.
