<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"IMPROVEMENTS IN SLICING VINDE CUTTING MACHINES"
In machines for cutting meat into slices, the removable table carrying the piece of meat to be cut receives its forward movement at each revolution via a screw shaft mounted on two supports integral with the carriage and actuated in limit switch of this carriage by a ratchet and pawl device whose amplitude of movement is adjustable at will according to the thickness of the slices to be cut. This screw shaft engages a half nut integral with the removable table.
It follows that to remove the removable table from its guide in the carriage, it is necessary to release the half-nut of the screw.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This is generally obtained by a mechanism integral with the carriage, said mechanism being necessarily complicated and expensive because it must be able to exert its potion on the nut whatever the position of the table relative to the carriage.
According to the present intention the device for releasing the denial nut is entirely dependent on the removable table and can therefore be of much simpler construction.
By way of illustration, one embodiment of the device in question is shown in the appended drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a schematic view in elevation and partial section of the device in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the table.
Fig. 2 is a detail view showing the mode of engagement of the device in the disengaged position of the nut denial.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the whole table and the carriage of the machine.
Fig. 4 is a plan view from above.
The denial nut 9 engaging with the screw 10 adapted to the carriage 15 forms part of a pivoted lever 16 9a in the support 8 integral with the table. The free end of this lever is biased by a spring 14 which tends to apply the half nut 9 on the screw 10.
The support 8 carries the upright 5 on which moves the slider 4 carrying all the clamping devices of the meat on the removable table 13.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The upright 5 is formed by a tube in which is housed a rod 6, the lower end of which is in contact with the free end of the lever 16, this rod thus being constantly pushed upwards by the action of the spring. 14. This rod has a lug 17 which can move in a slot 18 of the tube 5, said slot being the horn that of a lamp socket. with a lug with a ramp terminated by two notches 19 and 20 located at different levels and on different generatrices of the tube 5.
The action of the spring 14 has the effect of pushing the lug
17 in one or the other of the two notches 19 and 20.
At its upper end, the rod 6 is provided with a handle 7 on which an action of the hand can be exerted.
When the lug 17 is in the notch 20 the half,: ci-or 9 engages the screw 10. To disengage this nut, it suffices to exert pressure by hand with simultaneous rotation on the rod 6, so as to bring the lug 17 into the retaining notch.
19, which has the effect of maintaining said nut 9 in the disengaged position.
The operator then has his hands free to release and remove the table from the trolley since the table is no longer engaged with the screw.
After replacing this table by another carrying a piece of other meat, the re-engagement of the half-nut of the new table with the screw 10 is obtained by releasing the lug 17 from the notch 19 by simply rotating the handle 7 , the action of the spring 14 automatically returning the lug into the notch 20.
