Verbeterd scheepsluik.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Met het inzicht de kenmerken van de uitvinding beter aan te tonen, zijn hierna, als voorbeeld zonder enig beperkend karakter, enkele voorkeurdragende uitvoeringsvormen van een verbeterd scheepsluik volgens de uitvinding beschreven, met verwijzing naar de bijgaande tekeningen, waarin : figuur 1 zeer schematisch een langsdoorsnede weergeeft van een scheepsluik volgens de uitvinding dat aangebracht is op de dennebomen van een schip ; figuur 2 op grotere schaal het gedeelte weergeeft dat in figuur 1 met F2 is aangeduid ; figuur 3 een doorsnede weergeeft, gelijkaardig aan deze van figuur 1, maar voor een uitvoeringsvariante ; figuur 4 een uitvoeringsvariante weergeeft van figuur 3 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Improved ship hatch.
The present invention relates to an improved ship's hatch, more particularly a ship's hatch, such as is used primarily with inland vessels to close the hold.
It is known to cover the hold of ships with hatches that extend from one pine tree to the opposite pine tree of the hold and several of which are required side by side to cover the entire hold.
These known ship hatches are provided with edges that extend over the pine trees of the hold.
Because a ship undergoes deformations under the influence of weather conditions, under the influence of the cargo, and the like, it is common and even mainly the ship hatches with their free ends to protrude several centimeters beyond the pine trees, thereby allowing the hold can deform freely, in other words that the aforementioned pine trees can bend freely over several centimeters outwards or inwards, without the shutters preventing this, or that the shutters can be damaged.
In order to further allow a ship to be loaded and unloaded as efficiently as possible, the opening to the hold is made as wide as possible, whereby the gangway next to this opening becomes very narrow.
Especially in container ships, where the hold does not have to be closed with a hatch, the gangway becomes
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
limited to the legal minimum, so that the access opening to the hold bites as much as possible.
However, if such a container ship is to carry a different cargo, it may be necessary to seal the hold with hatches, whereby the width of the gangway between the free ends of the aforementioned ship hatches and the outside of the ship becomes smaller than the permitted width when one wishes to keep the access opening to the hold as large as possible.
Due to the deformations of the ship, it is also not possible to manufacture the ship hatches in such a way that their ends abut against the pine trees of the ship, so that the width of the gangway would be maximum, because enormous tensions would arise in the ship hatch if the ship was not loaded and / or the ends of the ship hatches would protrude over the pine trees when the ship is loaded.
The present invention has an improved ship hatch as an object that offers a solution to the aforementioned and other problems.
For this purpose the invention relates to an improved ship's hatch, which consists of at least two parts that are displaceable relative to each other along the longitudinal direction of the ship's hatch, so that the length of the ship's hatch can be adjusted to the distance between the pine trees of a ship.
Preferably, one of the aforementioned parts of such ship hatch is formed by a plate, while another part
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is formed by a slidable portion attached to the aforementioned plate.
Preferably, such a ship's hatch according to the invention is provided with two slidable sections, each of which has an edge folded down, each slidable part being connected to the aforementioned plate by means of guide means, on the one hand, and by means of control means, on the other hand.
In a special embodiment, a ship's hatch according to the invention will be designed such that it rises towards the center and thus has a projection, while the plate is profiled such that drainage gutters are formed at regular distances, the height of which progressively decreases from the projection's projection. hatch to both ends thereof.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, a few preferred embodiments of an improved ship's hatch according to the invention are described below as an example without any limiting character, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows a very schematic longitudinal section represents a ship's hatch according to the invention arranged on the pine trees of a ship; figure 2 represents the part indicated by F2 in figure 1 on a larger scale; figure 3 represents a cross-section, similar to that of figure 1, but for an embodiment variant; figure 4 represents an embodiment variant of figure 3;
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
figure 5 shows a view on a larger scale according to arrow F5 in figure 4i figures 6 and 7 show cross-sections along lines VI-VI and VII-VII respectively, in figure 5i figure 8 shows on a larger scale the part that in figure 6 with F8 is indicated; figure 9 represents a view, similar to that of figure 8, but in a different position; figure 10 represents a view according to arrow F10 in figure 6i figure 11 shows an accumulation of two ship hatches according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows very schematically a ship's hatch 1 according to the invention which is arranged on the pine trees 2-3 of a ship 4, more particularly an inland vessel.
In addition to each pine tree 2-3, a gangway 51 and 6 are traditionally provided, each of which is formed by the deck next to these pine trees 2-3 and which is more particularly delimited by, on the one hand, one of the aforementioned pine trees 2-3 and, on the other hand , the outer wall 7 of the ship 4.
In this embodiment the ship hatch 1 consists of a plate 8 which is provided at one end 9 with a folded edge 10, which is intended to be arranged over the respective pine tree 3, while the other end 11 of the ship hatch 1 is provided with a portion 12 slidable relative to the plate 8.
As shown in detail in Figure 2, the slidable portion 12 in this case is at the bottom of the plate 8
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
attached with the aid of guide means consisting of one or more pins 13 which are each arranged, on the one hand, through a hole 14 in the plate 8 and, on the other hand, through a slot 15 in the slidable part 12.
The slidable portion 12 extends beyond the end 11 of the plate 8 and is provided at the end 16 with a downwardly folded edge 17 which is intended to be arranged over the pine tree 2.
The improved ship's hatch is also provided with control means which, on the one hand, consist of a number of protrusions 19, in which a hole 20 is arranged and which are mounted on the top of the slidable part 12 and, on the other hand, consist of an upright edge 21 forming part of the plate 8, wherein a number of screw thread holes 22 is provided in the raised edge 21, all such that the holes 20 in the protrusions 19 and the screw thread holes 22 in the raised edge 21 are coaxially placed, with a bolt through each protrusion 19 23 is provided which cooperates with a corresponding threaded hole 22.
The bolt 23 is fixed axially displaceably with respect to the protrusion 19, by means of a locking ring 24 which is arranged in a circumferential groove in the bolt 23.
The use of the improved ship hatch 1 according to the invention is very simple and as follows.
After a ship hatch 1 has been placed on the pine trees 2-3 in order to close off the access opening 25 to the hold, the bolts 23 are rotated such that, since they cannot move axially relative to their
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
projection 19, relative displacement is caused between the plate 8 and the slidable portion 12, and this until the folded edge 17 of the slidable portion 12 and the folded edge 10 of the plate 8 rests against the pine tree 2-3, one and others such that the useful width of the gangways 5 and 6 becomes maximum.
If the ship hatch 1 is to be removed, for example for loading or unloading the ship 4, the bolts 23 are screwed from the screw thread holes 22 into the upright edge 21, whereby the folded edge 17 is released from the pine tree 2, whereafter the ship hatch 1 can be removed suitably, for example with the aid of a so-called hatch carriage not shown in the figures.
Although the distance between the pine trees 2 and 3 will change as a result of the loading or unloading of the ship 4, the ship's hatch 1 can nevertheless be arranged on the pine trees 2-3 such that the folded edges 17 and 10 are precisely against these pine trees 2-3 abut.
Figure 3 shows an embodiment variant of an improved ship hatch 1 according to the invention, wherein the plate 8 is provided at its both ends 9 and 11 with a slidable portion 12 with an edge 17 folded downwards.
The plate 8 in this case has a length which extends just before the respective pine trees 2 and 3, while the slidable portions 12 with their folded edges 17 are arranged over the pine trees 2-3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The use of ship hatches according to figure 3 is analogous to their use in the first embodiment, with the difference that in the case of the second embodiment larger differences in distance between the two pine trees 2-3, which are caused by the deformations of the ship 4 , can be collected.
Figures 4 to 11 show a third embodiment of an improved ship hatch according to the invention.
This embodiment variant mainly consists of a plate 26 which rises towards the center and which thus has a cam 27. The plate 26 is profiled in such a way that drainage channels 28 are formed at regular distances, the height of which progressively decreases from the cam 27 of the ship hatch 1 to its two ends 29-30.
Below the plate 26, to each of its ends 29-30, a slidable portion 31-32 is provided which is provided with guide means consisting of a number of teeth 33 which are slidable in U-shaped guides 34, which are at the bottom of the plate 26 confirmed, the two slidable portions 31 and 32 being intended to be mounted on the pine trees 2-3 of the ship 4.
Between two adjacent drainage gutters 28, under the ends 29-30 of the plate 26, a profile 35 is fixed, in which a hole 36 is provided, wherein in certain profiles 35, for example one at each end 29-30, a screw thread hole 37 is provided.
The aforementioned slidable portions 31 and 32 extend beyond the plate 26, the edge 38, respectively
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
39, from the slidable portion 31-32 is folded downwards.
On the upper side 40 of the slidable portions 31-32, control means are provided which consist of a number of protrusions 41, in which holes 42 are provided which are coaxial with the aforementioned threaded holes 37 in the respective profiles 35.
Arranged through each protrusion 41 is a bolt 43 which cooperates with a corresponding threaded hole 37, the bolt 43 being, as in the previous embodiments, mounted axially immovably with respect to the respective protrusion 41 by means of a locking ring 44 engaging a circumferential groove the bolt 43 is fitted.
Opposite to the aforementioned holes 36 in the profiles 35, protrusions 45 are fixed on the slidable portions 31-32, in which a guide rod 46 is arranged which is coaxial with the hole 36 in the profile 35 concerned.
Furthermore, three sealing strips 47 are arranged over the full width of the ship hatch 1 on the underside of the profiles 35, respectively the underside of the plate 26, at the location of the drainage gutters 28, which sealing strips 47 press against the respective sliding part 31-32.
Finally, under each sliding part 31-32 a spacer 48 is provided, which at the same time forms a reinforcement profile, the height of which is at least equal to the height of the folded edges 38-39.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
The operation of the improved ship hatch 1, as shown in Figures 4 to 11, is analogous to the operation, as described above, of the second embodiment of the ship hatch 1 according to the invention.
The protrusions 45 with the guide rods 46 mounted therein together with the teeth 33 contained in the guides 34 ensure that the slidable portions 31-32 bend little or not under the weight of the ship hatch 1.
The purpose of the aforementioned spacers 48 is to keep the hatches 1, when stacked on top of one another, at a sufficient distance from each other, as shown in Figure 11, so that the folded edges 38-39 of the slidable portions 31-32 do not get caught to sit, causing them to become distorted. It is thus also obtained that the ship's hatches can easily be lifted.
It is clear that an improved ship's hatch 1 is obtained by the present invention, wherein the dimensions of the gangways 5 and 6 on either side of the pine trees 2 and 3 of a ship 4 can remain sufficiently wide, in other words fall within the required standards, even if the opening to the hold is made as wide as possible.
The invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described as examples and shown in the figures, but such improved ship's hatch can be realized in all shapes and sizes without departing from the scope of the invention.
