<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Figure 1 est une vue en perspective de ce profilé, dans une zone d'angle, et dans le cas où il est monté entre une menuiserie et une vitre ;
Figure 2 est une vue en coupe de ce profilé au repos ;
Figure 3 est une vue en coupe de ce profilé en position montée entre un dormant et un ouvrant ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Sealing profile for joinery and glazing
The present invention relates to a sealing profile for joinery and glazing.
The profile in question, made of a flexible material, such as rubber or a synthetic material, is intended to be fixedly mounted between a carpentry and a glazing, to seal between these two elements, or between the frame of an opening, and the opening intended to close this opening, to seal the closure between these two elements.
A first solution for sealing between elements, in particular when the periphery thereof has a rectangular shape, consists in cutting the sections to length to obtain four sections, each of a length corresponding to the length of a side of the elements to be assembled or between which the sealing must be carried out. This solution is not entirely satisfactory, because there are leaks in the corners, in particular due to the appearance of voids following the withdrawal of the profile, since during the positioning of the profiles the operator always exercises , even unconsciously, an elongation of these.
A second solution consists in using sections of sealing profiles delimiting a frame, and in making the vulcanization in the corners. These are elements requiring a mold adapted to each section of profile for the production of angles, which additionally requires a vulcanization operation, so that the cost of the finished product is very high.
A third solution consists in using a continuous profile, and in making this profile form angles at the angles of the assembly. At the angles, a tension is produced which is detrimental to the aging of the profile, and a blistering effecting the sealing in the angle zone considered.
The object of the invention is to provide a sealing profile for joinery and glazing, that is to say a multifunctional profile, which can be arranged along a course comprising angles, without the formation of angles being reflected. by tensions harmful to the aging of the material, and without the formation of angles resulting in sealing defects.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To this end, the profile which it concerns, of the type comprising a heel which, intended to be fixed in a groove which comprises one of the two elements, is connected by a middle part to a sealing part intended to be applied. with pressure against the other element, this sealing part comprising two sections of surfaces joining on the side opposite to the middle part, one of these two sections of surfaces being intended to bear against the second element to produce the sealing, is characterized in that the first surface section intended to come into abutment against the second element comprises a succession of ribs and longitudinal recesses forming a sort of accordion bellows.
The provision of a bellows in the surface section intended to bear against the second element allows deformation at the corners, without the formation of recesses, since the wall can fold back on itself. It follows that there is no excessive tension of the material at the corners, detrimental to the aging of this material, and that there is no formation of voids constituting sealing defects. On the contrary, the provision of several ribs ensures the presence of several successive sealing barriers.
According to one embodiment of this profile, the surface section intended to seal against the second element has two lips at its two ends as well as intermediate ribs.
One of the two sealing lips, the one located furthest from the heel of the profile, is more particularly operational for sealing between a frame and an opening, while the other lip is more particularly operational for carrying out the sealing between a glazing and a joinery intended to receive this glazing.
Advantageously, this profile has two intermediate ribs disposed between the two end lips.
According to one embodiment, the succession of ribs and recesses forms, seen in cross section, a broken line.
Preferably, the different segments of the broken line form two by two an angle of the order of 90.
According to another embodiment, the succession of ribs and recesses forms a wavy surface.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to promote the deformability of the profile in the corner areas, the second surface section of the sealing part, opposite the bellows-shaped surface section, itself comprises, in its connection area with the middle part, a succession of ribs and longitudinal recesses forming a bellows.
In order to ensure excellent performance for this sealing profile, both for mounting between a carpentry and glazing, and between an opening and a frame, when the profile is at rest, the second surface section of the sealing part is substantially perpendicular to the base of the heel, while the first surface section forms, with the second section, an angle between 300 and 600, and preferably of the order of 450.
The profile according to the invention is advantageously tubular, and, in the bellows-shaped zones, the inner face of the profile has ribs and recesses offset relative to those corresponding to the outer face.
In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting examples, an embodiment of this profile, and two examples of application of it:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of this profile, in a corner area, and in the case where it is mounted between a carpentry and a window;
Figure 2 is a sectional view of this profile at rest;
Figure 3 is a sectional view of this profile in the mounted position between a frame and an opening;
Figure 4 is a sectional view of this profile mounted between the profile of a carpentry and glazing.
The sealing profile shown in the drawing comprises a heel 2 intended to be fixed in a groove 3 which comprises a first element 4 vis-à-vis which the sealing must be carried out. The base 5 of the heel is located inside the groove 3, and parallel to the opening of said groove. The heel 2 is extended by a middle part 6, itself extended by a sealing part 7. The sealing part 7 comprises two sections of surfaces, a first section 8 and a second section 9, which meet at their ends opposite the base of the heel
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
forming a lip 10. The entire sealing profile is constituted by a wall delimiting a central cavity 12.
At rest, and as shown in FIG. 2, the second surface section 9 is substantially perpendicular to the base 5 of the heel, and the lip 10 is located in the extension of this second surface section.
The first surface section 8 forms with the second surface section an angle of approximately 45, and its end situated on the side opposite the lip 10 comprises a sealing lip 13. The angle formed by the first surface section d 8 and the middle part
EMI4.1
0 6 is less than 90.
As shown in the drawing, the first surface section 8 comprises a succession of ribs 14 and recesses 15, forming a broken line, the different segments of which form angles of the order of 900 two by two. It should be noted that '' there is the same structure on the side of the central cavity, and that the recesses and ribs of the central cavity are offset with respect to those corresponding to the outer face, so that a recess formed in the inner wall is in face of a rib on the outer wall.
The second surface section 9 of the sealing part also has ribs 16 and recesses 17, close to its zone of connection with the middle part.
In the case where, as shown in FIG. 3, the first element 4 is constituted by a frame delimiting an opening, the sealing is essentially carried out by the lip 10 against which the opening 18 is intended to come and close off the opening.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 4, the first element is constituted by a carpentry 24 intended for the fixed mounting of a glazing unit 19. In this case, most of the sealing is ensured by
EMI4.2
the lip 13, the ribs 14 and the lip 10, completing the seal, ensuring the formation of several successive barriers.
As is apparent from the above, the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique by providing a sealing profile which can be used continuously by forming angles, while ensuring excellent sealing at these angles, without appreciable increase in the material tension at the level of these, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
can be applied to different sealing solutions, in particular mounting between a joinery and a glazing, or between two joinery elements, such as a frame and an opening.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this profile described above by way of example, on the contrary it embraces all of the variant embodiments. Thus in particular that the number of ribs and recesses forming the bellows could be different, or that the shape of these bellows could be different and for example wavy, without departing from the scope of the invention .
